All that being said, I am actually enjoying this tempered and calculating Boba. I still think there are motivations there to unpack.

But yeah they should have re-cast on account of age and that Temuera Morrison is a pretty bad actor, especially with him having his helmet off so much.

Alec Guinness was 62 during filming, not that far from the character age. Temuera Morrison is 20 years older than Boba Fett is.

what's wild is that Ming Na Wen is only a couple years younger than Morrison

although Fennec Shand should be around that age too since she was an active bounty hunter around the time of Order 66 (Bad Batch appearance)... if we assume that to be around 20y/o then she'd be at least 50 now

I guess that helps explain her willingness to settle down now with Boba.

I like that this episode confirms there's more to it than just that

That Fennec was initially resistant/skeptical, accepted their one mission to clear the debt and that's it, but decides to stay entirely on her own after hearing Boba's ambitions and relating the experience as hunters sent out to die for idiots

I'm enjoying the show, though I wouldn't say I get excited about it. It's low stakes, well done (for the most part) and covers important (but perhaps not vital) parts of Star Wars - Boba Fett, Jabba, Tatooine, Rancor, etc. I didn't expect this to be much different from what it has been.

I will say that Boba looked awful against the shield guys, who in turn were real idiots for not realizing that Boba had body guards. Or the chase scene. I guess the 'present' time's action hasn't felt great. I think the flashback has been the strongest part for me.

I guess I'd say it's a B- so far, and I'm expecting it to be a B, so, as long as the criminal overlord stuff improves, I'll be happy.

Also I feel dumb but that was Mando's theme at the end of episode 4, right?

I watched another episode of The Mandalorian yesterday. To be honest I was underwhelmed by the first but I got into this one. However this series still reeks of a similar mindset that gave us the sequel trilogy where Disney is just taking some aspect of the franchise that people like and hammering hard on it. In this case, they decided they wanted to make a bounty hunter show. Whoopee.

Am I the only one who feels like out of all of Disney's Star Wars films, The Last Jedi is the one that least deserves to be blamed for derailing the whole thing? At least regarding the sequel trilogy anyway.

i had the opposite reaction to mando. i liked 1 and thought 2 was meh.

the really good stuff doesn't come until later in the show, though.

I think you mean episode 1 of season 2.5 of Mandalorian.

Fun episode, although kinda awkward to just stick in an episode of Mandalorian while Book of Boba itself is still struggling to find its place.

I was thinking about this episode last night and it must have been weird as hell for the people who skipped Mando to watch Boba Fett. Sure this is a continuation of Mando but the Boba Fett stuff has been self contained or explained so you don't REALLY need to watch Mando to know what's going on.

I never thought I'd see Cad fucking Bane on a live action show.

And finally, Grogu HAS to choose to return to Mando, right? I can't imagine they want to run another full season of the Mandalorian without them teamed up.

in mando, i kinda lol'ed at how in episode 5 of season 2, ahsoka is like "oh no i can't train grogu mando he's way too attached to you" and then in the finale, luke is like "hey mando i'm taking grogu from you byeee" >_>

i'm fine with grogu not returning in season 3 but the way he left was kinda sloppy.

I got complaints on the ultimatum attitude but my god this was like an ultimate wet dream fantasy episode of Star Wars for me, nearly in tears

... although awkward case for the s-called "Book of Boba" being a week build-up and then just switching to other Star Wars stuff the rest of the season

I do like how competent Pykes appear to be here though unlike any other appearance despite hearing their name hyped up but always getting clowned. Also holy shit Cad Bane's live action debut is absolute perfection

And at this point I'm all on board with Boba Fett never featuring Boba Fett again! These last two episodes have been so damned good.

Freaking Cad Bane! And they gave him that tremendous sneer which made his mouth look like it was perpetually on the verge of saying 'fuck'. So great.
