I freaked out about taxes. i had a few years where I made such little money that I didn't need to file, according to the irs website. It was hard times, health was poor, job market was crap, etc. i've got a job now so Im better. I got some bad tax advice a few years back. I recieved a statement from my job before they started giving out w-2's every year (foreign company) and my tax lady told me not to file taxes that year since there was little money, and it wasnt a w-2. What the heck. I was naive and listened. So Im getting ready to move overseas for work again, taking care of taxes. I remember my 2015 taxes that i never worried about, and suddenly anxiety sets in. I didnt file that year. I decide, out of good faith, to file it late. Then i remember "remember thta yea i was incredibly poor and didnt file? I did a commission for someone (book illustrations) and earned a measely 1000$. Apparently that is taxable, even though it has no trace. Out of curiosity and fear, I look it up and find a ton of weird articles saying things that are taxbale. Gift cards Odd jobs (mowing lawns, kid stuff) Doing things like online reviews, swagbux etc Like, how crazy is this. Now I know why people get so upset and go crazy over this stuff. The IRS really does tax everything. I have always had a guilty conscience, maybe anks to uncomfortable childhood stuff, and I kno it is insane to file small things like that so many years ago. I know I should enjoy my life (and I actually do, which I why I choose to), but anxiety sneaks up and makes me feel like I am bad at the language (even though I am better than average, at least, than most foreigners, and am constantly learning). I am good at my job, and I have a small support system from the local church, which really surprised me withh how normal and supportive they were. Anyway,anyone else feel the same? I usually dont open up about this, but I am sick of feeling tis way. I have started exercise, sleeping better, tyring to be positive, being social, and it does help.
