Instead of fighting for higher tips, people should be fighting for higher wages and not letting the managers convince the world that the job is great because of tips.

Also, tips are taxable so it sucks even more.

I suffered from major depression for years. I struggled a lot, but finally decided I wanted to do better. I made a lot of changes. I still get depressed and have anxiety over things, but it happens less, and my general happy days are more thna my depressed ones.

For me, I felt better when i started doing what i felt was right, working a lot more, trying to exercise, and eating a little better. Trying new things, learning a new language. It was a huge change and (i live in japan, so a lot of these new things come with the territory), it really made me forget about the bad stuff. Being busy is a really good feeling, sometimes.

Do they really hate it when foreigners bring up anime? I definitely won't do so in the interview, but when I mentioned how popular it is to one of my Japanese friends living in Germany, they were positively surprised.

They love when you bring up anime and Japanese culture. This is some dumb meme people like to push where Japanese people don't actually like anime and think people who do are weird. I am easily the least Otaku person in my entire lab and I really like anime and games. Everyone I ever talk to about anime or games reacts positively and some get super excited and passionate. Japanese people for the most part want their culture to be appropriated (not that they know what cultural appropriation is, but if it is explained to them they will likely think it is a positive thing).

Seriously though I ride an anime train to a bus stop to take an anime bus to work. Almost every store sells manga. Oranges have anime girls on them at the grocery store. Anime (really manga culture) is everywhere and nothing like American culture and cartoons. If someone tells you anime isn't that big in Japan they don't live here and are lying (it literally dwarfs all other movie genres in sales).

Ive seen the opposite where they realize someone likes anime a lot, and it may be an indicator that they are trying to come to Japan based on some weird hobby or fetish. Just dont be weird about it. I honestly wouldnt even bring it up unless someone else does. I dont live in Tokyo though, everything in Tokyo is kind of different.

As for Hamamatsu, it has some cool stuff. Not like Tokyo, but i love it here.

Anyway, Japan is kind of easy to live in with no Japanese experience. Do yourself a favor and study your basics though, it is polite and respectful to know a little, and they appreciate trying.

Don't be a weeb.

Make sure your company offers insurance. If not, run for the hills.

Summer is brutal, dress appropriately.

Capsule hotels are cheap and convinient. Dont do air bnb or hostels.

Don't assume girls will be all over you.

Dont listen to any "weird facts about japan", most of them are veyr isolated incidents, or just plain overexaggerations. Everything outside of Tokyo and Okinawa, Osaka, or Kyoto are incredibly normal, and even those non-tokyo cities are pretty normal too.

Visit me in Hamamatsu.

Is this movie really underappreciated? Maybe in real life, but it doesn't seem like it online? I guess maybe in the sense that it's not praised with other classic Disney movies of the time like The Lion King or Aladdin.

Actually watched this one again about a year ago, still love it. It definitely checks all the boxes for me, and I loved Goof Troop (criminally short run) as a kid as well.

Iirc, Goof Troop got more episodes than a typical cartoon during it's run, and it got a lot of reruns too.

Yeah. I mean, it exists, but a lot of places dont accept it. It isnt the norm.most things are by cash.

For example, you order on amazon and you pay the mailman on arrival, or ask for it to be delivered to a konbini, and you pay there.

You also pay your bills at a konbini.

Im one of the few PC gamers here. Most admit it is the future, but still play most stuff on phones or console.

We can ise Stema here, but out library is missing some games. We also have to pay at places like 7-11 because credit/debit isnt really big here yet (our banks are really behind the times).

Anyway, Ive been wanting FF15 for a long time, and when it finally came to PC, it was 8000 (roughly 80 dollars).

Now it is 4000 on the steam sale, which is still a huge ripoff.

It was a bad show.

The people complaining about the new one are either

- too young to remember it and are bandwagoning what youtubers say
- actually liked the 2011 version
- nostalgia

The funny thing is, the old version is exactly what people complain that this new version is. The old one was a lazy, ugly 24 minute toy commercial that the creators didnt care too much about because it was just to sell toys. Exactly like this new one is. Same with nearly every other franchise from the 80's. Original Thundercats was a pretty dumb show.

High School, freshmen year. Was going to class. Tons of rumors going around, nobody was taking it seriously.

Then we got to class, and we heard more details. One of my classmates went home early. I remember we didnt do anything. I think maybe the radio was left on and we just kind of listened.

One of my teachers went on a long speech about why this was important. I dont remember what he said but ir emember the moment.

Going home, everyone was kind of mocking the terrorists, pretty confident they would be taken out.

Got home, went online to see everyone worried.

Mom got home, she seemed paranoid.

It was a really dark and surreal day. I still look back on it and remember the weather, the feelings, the people, the conversations..

Then the next few days was everyone in war frenzy or totally against it.
