What. The. Eff. Best. Office.

Yeah, it's like a tech company thing. I've seen some other offices with bars and beer or kombucha tap in addition to stuff like cold brew.

Still, it definitely makes going into the office feel a bit better.

Also my wife is not affected by caffeine at all and will sometimes drink coffee right before bed and immediately fall asleep.

Meanwhile I have a harder time sleeping if it's been less than like 9 hours since I drank an espresso.

It's so interesting to see people affected by caffeine. Many people around me seem to have a genuine change in attitude and/or behaviour after drinking coffee

Am I cursed for not being able to benefit from this or blessed for not getting the negatives?

Definitely a double-edged sword. It's great for focus and getting through a day with less sleep, but it's very easy to drink too much and feel uncomfortably jittery.

One thing I've noticed is while it makes me more energetic, but it actually feels like a very artificial sort of energy. I've tried running a bit while sleep deprived but after consuming caffeine, and I ended up getting winded very quickly.

LOVE coffee. I'm a two cup-a-day guy.

I have a Nespresso that I use for quick morning-cups, but I also often like to visit different coffee shops around the area to sample their cortados (my favorite drink). I used to be a french-press guy, but once I got the Nespresso I became super lazy for my at-home cups.

I should probably try more cortados. I'm not really sure why I haven't given that I love both cappucinos and espresso.

Im not a hobbyist, but I absolutely love the taste of coffee. Espresso is good, but Ill usually consume normal coffee with a little milk or something to cool it off. Unfortunately, my body just cannot deal with the caffeine correctly. The rush is good, but about four hours later I want to die.

Even decaf has some in there. Whenever Im tired, I have to give myself a pep talk about drinking water and eating correctly instead of reaching for this stimulant.

Yeah, I think I'm pretty sensitive to caffeine too. I'm trying to improve my tolerance a bit by drinking every day instead of every other day like I usually do because I enjoy it

nitro cold brew?
moka pot?

That said, I use a Keurig machine with a reusable kcup. I typically buy 10-12oz bags or if I am feeling adventurous find a store that has a coffee grinder and select from their bins.
Cream and sugar is a must.

As for a small specialty shops, I've come to be a fan of whiff roasters. They have a million different flavors and I have not had a bad one yet.

I only drink it hot or frozen (like at dunkin donuts, the ice cream variant at dairy queen, or just coffee ice cream).

Nitro cold brew is cold brew with nitrogen added. Think Guinness beer, but coffee. Cold brew just means it was made by soaking the beans in water over a longer period of time rather than using hot water.

A moka pot is a metal pot with two chambers for making espresso-like coffee on a stove top. When you heat it, water from the lower chamber evaporates and gets forced through the coffee grounds and recondenses in the upper chamber.

Interesting, so you just pour hot water into that and then pour it out through the spout? I have some decent instant coffee that I took on a hiking trip but never ended up using, but this seems like if would also work nicely.

Have you had Kyoto cold brew (slow drip)? It definitely has a different taste compared to standard cold brew from what I've had

Yeah. You have to seal it up and leave it 5 or so minutes to brew.

Never had that before. What kind of different taste?

Less heavy on the chocolate notes compared to traditional cold brew. Kind of almost feels like a blend of what you get from cold brew and a pour over or French press.

How do people here generally like it? I've gotten progressively more into it over the years, partly thanks to how much focus there's been on craft liquids in the past decade.

I'm generally pretty fond of cold brew/nitro cold brew and espresso. My office has some nitro cold brew on tap which is pretty awesome.

My wife also has a moka pot, which is not quite espresso but still great.

I've also started to enjoy cappuccinos quite a bit now, even though I've mostly taken my coffee black in the past.

Rum is the only one of these that I just cannot enjoy. Obviously flavored rum in some fruity drink will work, but actual good rum with that rum taste just isn't for me. It may or may not have to do with giving myself alcohol poisoning from high ABV rum in high school though *shrugs*

Try an agricole rum if you haven't. Completely different flavor since it's made from sugarcane juice rather than molasses. It's more grassy/herbal.

How is vodka great for cocktails? It's designed to be as neutral as possible, so there's barely any flavor there aside from the taste of ethanol.

It's fine for infusions, but you can infuse any spirit and play off the flavors already present.

When I was like 25 I thought whiskey, scotch particularly, would become my nice drink of choice. But as I've expanded my palette, it's just become way too harsh of a flavor. I'm basically torn between Mezcal and gin, with vodka being a dark horse candidate as it never seems to make me hungover.

I mean, which Scotches have you tried? There's a pretty good variety there and not all of it is harsh.

Also, have you tried adding a splash of water to your Scotch?

Koreans mostly drink Soju, rice wine, or their cheap beer like drinks that technically don't qualify as beer, but there is all kinds of liquor and craft beer, it's just more expensive than in the US typically. Whereas Soju is like $1-2 a bottle, and their "beer" is also, you'll almost always pay more for imported liquor or craft beer than typical in the US. I have seen cheap local craft beer often but not local gin or anything.

Wait, are you in Korea currently? For some reason I thought you had moved back to the US

Mezcal isn't even that expensive?

Depends on the agave used. Tequila uses blue agave which takes 7 years to mature. But mezcal can use any agave, so some use wild varietals that take even longer to mature (like 15 years) and aren't even farmed. A bottle of Vida may only run $30, but nicer mezcals start getting very pricey.

The combination of the growing popularity of mezcal and the fact that agave harvests are unlikely to keep up also mean it will get more expensive.

French EDH is a different format. EDH is fine as long as you play with a group that doesn't fall into the trap of making it an arms race in terms of upgrading decks. My group recently did a $25 deck challenge, and it's been a lot of fun.

Tuck was terrible and shut down decks that relied on their commander. There was no reason to have that in the format.

Not because I was hyped, but because it's SUCH waste of potential to have this concept, the art style, and these mechanics paired with THIS story, dialogue, and characters. Would it have killed them to be even a little unique or weird with these stories? It's like they just pulled out the most boring medieval JRPG tropes and put zero twist on any of them.

1. Does the story get... better? I started with Olberic and finished recruiting Primrose, but neither plot is encouraging me to spend 80 hours on this.

2. How should I go about getting all the characters? Does it make sense to complete a few more chapters for the ones I have first or just power forward and recruit new people? The game seems to leave it pretty open ended.

1. Haha, definitely not.

2. I pretty much just did a loop and grabbed everyone, but it's pretty tedious.

And theres a sidequest where you gotta travel across it without getting hit, FUCK that.

Benches control most enemy respawns (except for minor enemies) so you can kill everything along the way and then it's mostly down to environmental hazards.
