I stopped drinking soda around 10 years ago, but I still "taste" it once in a while because I make soda and need to make sure it isn't horrible before I give it to people. That is the un-carbonated stuff though. I mostly didn't stop for any health reason, I just didn't feel like needing to fart 20 times a day because I drank a can of pepsi.

I'll still have the occasional sparkling/seltzer water though, mostly just when I am on a plane or at a Italian cafe.

With the exception of 2 apps (one which came in a humble bundle and one which I knew the creator for and wanted to support him) all of the apps I have ever downloaded are free to play. And in the 8 years or so I have had a smart phone, I have only payed for one IAP (again, because I knew the creator).

Umm, yea? Why is that LOL worthy?

If the only food in your fridge is whale blubber and the closest store is 200 miles away, doesn't matter how sick of it you are, you are going to be eating whale blubber.

ROOOOFL, because people won't go 5 more blocks down the road for something that isn't blubber in your crazy scenario.

Again, why is that so weird? People are creatures of habit and convenience, it is very well proven that even if there is a better option 5 minutes out of their way they will almost always go for the one that more convenient. It is why fast food is as convenient and plentiful as it is. Someone leaves work and says "man, when I get home I have to cook up that food. I am so tired...Oh look, Subway! I'll just grab something there!"

The only reason Subway is as popular as it is is saturation. There is pretty much a Subway every 1-2 miles in my area. I always know that no matter where I am or what podunk town I am stuck in, I am always within walking distance of a Subway. In that way, it is like McDonalds or Starbucks. Not good by any stretch, but just so many of them that you are going to be forced to eat it eventually.

I don't remember video game prices during the 90's as I was too young to know about the economy or the prices of our SNES, Genesis, and 5th gen games, but I think game prices were pretty unstable like they would either be decently priced or overly expensive, but I could be wrong (I need to research this thoroughly).

It actually depended on the game back then, because most of the "hardware" was on the game cartridge itself, hence they could get pretty expensive. Something that was relatively simple could cost $40 - $50 (or $20 for "Player's Choice" versions) while something that required an FX chip (I.E. Starfox) or expanded memory (I.E. pretty much any JRPG) could be upwards of $80. And I agree that games back then needed to cost that much because cartridges were expensive. Nowadays though, not so much because physical media is cheep, and digital is even cheaper.

I would say it is a mid-range hobby. On the one end you have stuff like Warhammer where you can spend hundreds of dollars a year on figures, terrain, paint, supplies, etc. On the other hand, a pen and paper RPG costs less then $100 for the book, paper, pencil, and dice and that is a one-time purchase.

Gaming is somewhere in the middle as long as you aren't buying way more games then you are actually playing.

80's Punisher is pretty much the only reason anyone even remotely gives a single solitary shit about the Punisher as a character at all.

70's Punisher was literally just an underdeveloped Spider-Man antagonist (if not outright villain) who occasionally guested in Daredevil to rain on his parade as well.

If anything, the popularity of Punisher in the 70's is what led to the oversaturation of him in the 80's and the complete abortion that was Punisher in the 90's. He didn't even start showing up in Captain America and Daredevil until the early 80's. Then Marvel decided to just go nuts and put him everywhere.

And post 80's Punisher has mostly been a succession of batshit insane and outright stupid storylines that almost no one likes, like the time when he died and became an angel to fight demons, or the time when he died and became Frankenstein, or the time where he became a black man to hide from people. Oh, or the time he became Ghost Rider.

And I agree, hence why Punisher 2004 was such a disappointment. The MK Punisher (and eventually transitioning into MAX Punisher) was awesome and completely avoided what you described above in favor of a more gritty down to earth Punisher. What they didn't need to do was turn Punisher into a freaking love story.

There's a reason why the Punisher movie basically became the go-to shorthand argument for "Marvel can't make good films" for about 15 years straight (even more so than the terrible Captain America film). It basically took the success of Blade, X-Men, AND Spider-Man before Marvel started to shake off the stink.

And that is the problem: People think of it only as a Marvel movie. Think of it like just a typical 80's action film and it is pretty fun, not that far removed from something like Cobra, Commando, or Predator.

I've been a comic fan for like 33 years, and I've literally never met a single person who liked that film unironically.

Well, I guess we technically haven't met, but I like it and know a few people who do. I will say it is mostly people who don't like the Punisher comics anyways though.

89 Punisher didn't even have the skull shirt. The Thomas Jane one was far from perfect but it was way better than Dolph's movie

That is like saying First Blood, Cobra, or Blade Runner are horrible movies because they don't follow the source material. It was the 80's, pretty much every movie took liberties with the source material. Plus 80's Punisher sucked in the comics so it is a good thing they don't follow the source material.

The 89 Punisher took shitty source material and turned it into a cheesy 80's action movie (I.E. good), the 2004 movie took good source material (MK Punisher) and turned it into a disappointing mid-00's action romance film.

I do think that 3 is probably a better game, but 2 is just nostalgic for me. It is the one I played the most, it is easily my favorite Mega Man game, and it is just the most fun to play. 3 honestly felt like Capcom throwing shit at the wall hoping something would stick (and only the slide and Protoman did). And if we are being honest 4-6 are all basically the same game. Not bad, just pretty much interchangeable. I am glad they removed the charge shot in 9 and 10 though, it always felt out of place in Megaman games, because those where more about hitting the sweet spot with your shots vs. overpowering your enemies. At least in X it made sense due to the faster pace (risk vs. reward).

It also didn't help that the game was short as hell, you can beat it in like 6 hours if you rush through it and less then 30 if you try to 100% it.

Super Metroid - The scripted sequences. They aren't nearly as bad as it was in later games, but they are still annoying none the less. First game to introduce it and they just got worse from there.

Normality - The sewer level. At this point I have played the game so much that I can pretty much breeze through it, but it is still the most annoying part of the game. I guess you can include the original British voice acting as well, since that is the version you get on GoG. The US voices are just sooo much better because Cory Fucking Feldman.

Silent Hill 1, 2, 3 - Navigating the town. All of the buildings are fine, but anytime you have to go through the town it is annoying because you have to keep constantly checking the map to try to figure out where you need to go. If there is one thing that 4 did right, it was doing away with the town sequences.

Not that I think IKEA furniture is really nice quality or anything, but do people really think it's "cheap"? Cause it's still pretty damn expensive if you ask me. Maybe that's just all furniture, but fuck that noise. I have some stuff from IKEA but the rest is from the thrift store, talk about huge savings.

I should clarify, like yeah I have seen and know there is way more expensive furniture, but people act like IKEA is like the bottom tier of new furniture pricing, which is distressing if true since it's still like 20 to 50x more expensive than the thrift store

It's not fair to compare thrift store prices since almost everything at a thrift store is used. So you're comparing used prices to new prices, and that's not fair. When comparing strictly new prices, IKEA is definitely among the cheapest out there.

It makes sense too because IKEA uses particle boards instead of real wood, and the construction just isn't as good. Real wood and quality construction is going to cost more no matter what.

Most of my furniture is hard wood, so I probably wouldn't shop at IKEA even if it was close by. Even though you are paying more up front, the quality and how long it lasts more then makes up for it. If you buy something hardwood, you know it is going to last for as long as you are willing to keep it (hell, it will probably last long enough to pass it down to your kids if you want). It might get some scratches and scuffs, but you never have to worry about it falling apart.

Those are the ones I remember off the top of my head, there are probably a lot more if I thought about it.

That mother sentenced her kid to a childhood of ass beatings at school because she is a dumb bitch. Someone from her family needs to smack some sense into her.
