I honestly want to know the backstory to this. I totally agree the healthcare systems is horrendous, but usually its horrendous for the middle of the road until you hit your deductible. Unless his life savings was under $15,000, I am mildly skeptical this might be internet hyperbole. Lifetime caps dont exist any more, but maybe this story was from when they did?

Im curious if that poster opted for experimental techniques not covered by insurance, and if thats the case what it would have looked like, if at all, in socialist health care states.

there was far more to the criticism than whether or not the president tweets authentically. and again, I don't even know if their criticism is based in fact, no idea how much Biden has publicly subjected himself to interviews, unscripted environments compared to previous presidents, but the fact that the president isn't tweeting about perfect phone calls is not the only thing being brought up.

I didn't defend anything, I said it is pointless to post the talking point and then argue against something it isn't even claiming instead of actually addressing the argument. (by, you know, debunking the things they are actually criticizing him for, rather than making up things they aren't saying) If anything, I was attacking something, not defending anything.

You can probably count the amount of times Trump did a challenging interview in his entire 4-year term on one hand. I cam think if two off the top of my head. I don't remember Obama's media profile but I'd be a little surprised if the amount of hard interviews he did was in the double digits. Though part of that is that Obama was just a good speaker. People say for example the Daily Show interview was good but the main thing I remember from that was how nervous Jon Stewart was to be interviewing him.

I'd like to point out that in the first year of Trump's presidency (when he WASN'T dealing with multiple immediate crises left over from the previous administration), Trump had exactly one press conference himself.

So either A, the interpretation seen in this topic is accurate, and Cornyn is complaining that Biden isn't acting as openly (on Twitter) as Trump, or B, Cornyn is being a hypocrite and trying to paint Biden as some anomaly, while whitewashing Trump's lack of conventional media presence. Or both.

that's not what i said? it's not so much "you say the status quo sucks, and therefore you liked trump" as it is "you're a republican and you're specifically complaining about biden doing something that's the complete opposite of what trump did (writing conventional tweets) and therefore you liked trump." sure, it's still an assumption but i wouldn't say it's an insane assumption to make.

i hate biden so i would never attack someone for simply saying the status quo sucks or accuse them of liking trump.

To follow up on this, they showed off the body cam footage this morning and apparently a female cop screamed Taser multiple times, pulled the gun on him and shot him once, then immediately said "Oh my god I shot him."

So it seems like a legitimate case of her not wanting to shoot him and went to use the taser, but then she just... Fucking shot him instead in the heat of the moment. Which, frankly, is atrocious as well in its own way and Jesus they need to train these people better because this shouldn't happen.

Nobody was in actual danger. I can't fathom not taking the moment to make sure "Yes, I'm holding my taser and not my lethal murder weapon."

NCAA says it will pull events from states with anti-trans bills. I'm a bit pleasantly surprised by that. I know the ACC (one of the major NCAA divisions) did the same with North Carolina a few years back but I didn't know if the NCAA at large would act.

Also, the Minnesota MLB, NBA, and NHL teams have all postponed their games tonight because of the police shooting there.
