The only Tales game I’ve ever played is Symphonia. No one nominated Sheena, so I’ll just tell you that she’d have scored very high. As for this waifu? Not quite as high.

This is going to sound really pathetic and nitpicky, but so be it. I hate it when otherwise attractive girls pull back their hair. I much prefer hairstyles with like bangs or otherwise hair hanging out around the forehead to conceal the actual hairline, which I find to be the least attractive part of the face. Ponytails are perfectly fine so long as some hair is left to conceal at least part of the hairline. But showing off the full hairline? I was forced to dock QQ some major points. Add to that her sextuple earrings and silly-ass scarf and she’s just all kinds of no for me.

The funny part is that her Personality is fine. She’s friendly and likes to hug people when she’s happy, what’s wrong with that?

It was hard to actually track down information that would meaningfully affect her PWC because her game is exclusive to Japan, but as far as I can tell, she’s from some weird planet and claims to be an archeologist. Well, I have zero interest in archeology (maybe reading about interesting discoveries every so often), and I’m going to assume that means she’s off on crazy adventures a lot, so having her as an actual partner is going to be difficult. Also, I think her weapon looks silly.

Overall, QQ seems like a really pleasant waifu who could be a lot higher with just a few tweaks to her appearance and a real job.

Kim is an attorney who gets into criminal-related adventures with Saul, a man who is most remembered for his comment about having to work at a fast food restaurant to avoid being captured by the police. Real talk, though: I’ve watched Breaking Bad and not Better Call Saul.

Before I really delve into her Looks, I want to say that it’s incredibly hard to find a good picture of this waifu. I decided that I would only count images that have her in focus and not in profile or in shadows or anything, and the one I used still is dark and has part of her face hidden. This might be the most unphotogenic woman I’ve ever seen. Like this woman is supposed to be mid-30s and the profile pic used makes her look ten years older.

Look at that, this woman does not look 35. Anyway, Kim is acceptable. Bare minimum of okay-looking. Blond hair is a plus, but nothing about her face really comes together, and she’s showing much of her hairline (which I mentioned earlier I don’t like). In other words, she’s average.

Unrelated note: the BCS Wiki is terrible, I had to look up a lot of information on her from TVTropes of all places. Anyway, she’s straight-laced but still excitable, to the point of doing little happy dances and letting her ex-boyfriend give her pedicure. That’s a little cute, I’ll admit.

Kim is a lawyer, which means she has a stable, well-paying job and won’t be traveling a lot on crazy jungle adventures or whatever. These are extremely positive qualities. Why does she have a PWC of only 50, then? Simple: smoking. I can see in that image that she smokes, and I straight-up docked her five points for that. I hate smoking, it might be the worst common vice other than hard drugs. Oh yeah, and she has a nasty habit of committing disbarment-worthy offenses, so her job might not be as steady as I think.

Overall, Kim is not a bad waifu by any means, but she’s pretty ****ing average. And I say that as someone who just looked up the waifu document and realized that there are four people with overall scores of exactly 50 coming up.

Well, in all fairness, he’d make a pretty decent-looking girl. A little generic and his eyebrows are way too small, but he comes off as okay anyway. Still docked him points for being a dude, though.

Personality-wise, Felix likes to talk about himself in the third person, which is possibly the most annoying pronoun-related action a human is capable of. As I said before, he likes to trick people and make them think he’s a woman, then tease them for it.

As for his PWC, he’s the knight of a princess (or a noblewoman, it was kind of hard to get information), so that means a steady job. But I still docked him some points for being a dude and being so devoted to her that he thinks of little else.

Overall, not the waifu for me.

Welcome to the most average waifu on the list. I didn’t do this on purpose, either. You got 50s in everything all on her own. She is the very definition of the Neutral Planet guys from Futurama.

Looks-wise, You is among the most generic anime girls I’ve ever seen. Boring brown hair, short height, and a sailor fuku all combine to make a waifu I’ll forget about after clicking away from the Wiki.

Personality-wise, she’s an energetic, positive girl, which is good, and takes actions without thinking things through first, which is bad. These balance out and make her neither good nor bad.

PWC-wise, she wants to be the captain of a ferry, which I guess is a steady job?, and she’s a talented enough high diver to be on a national team, which sounds impressive but I don’t care about high diving one bit. I guess she can also intuitively know what the weather will be every day, but I live in LA, and everyone here also has that power.

Jennifer is the main character in Rule of Rose. An orphan who lost her parents at a young age, she’s got some crazy mental problems as a result. I probably could have told you that without even looking her up on the Wiki, though. Just the game’s art style is enough.

Looks-wise, Jennifer is pretty good. I understand that her awful fashion is a result of the time period she’s from, so I won’t hold it against her, but she’s got a good face and blond hair, which are both positive qualities as far as I’m concerned.

The most important part about Jennifer is her Personality. She’s “kind, good-natured, and caring,” which are good qualities, but she’s not only a complete doormat, she’s gloomy, traumatized, and never speaks up against anything. In fairness this is partly because she’ll be killed if she does, but the end result is that she never speaks out against injustice or wrongdoing. She bears no ill will toward her bullies, and really, too bad. I’ll say what we’re all thinking: there are some people you should bear ill will toward. In middle school there was this kid named Max with severe spinal problems who had to wear a huge back brace everywhere and he was a complete dick, like punching and insulting everyone. You could do nothing about it and he knew it. No one was going to retaliate against someone with a legit disability and he abused that fact to amuse himself by hurting others. Anyway my point is that some people are dicks and you should hate them.

PWC-wise, Jennifer apparently has problems in her backstory when she loves both someone else and a dog, leading to most of her problems. Well, guess what: I have no problem with waifus having dogs.

Overall, she’s a good waifu with some massive personality problems that I am unequipped to help her with. Sorry, Jennifer. At least you can take solace in the knowledge that your name is still a normal name, unlike other girls born in the early 1920s named things like Agnes and Dorothy.

Mayazumi is a master swordswoman who embodies Respect, a part of Bushido. My favorite thing about Bushido is that it’s only a code on how to conduct yourself, so it’s completely acceptable to just murder a peasant to test your sword. I’d buy this game if it included this demure girl murdering a man to test her sword.

Looks-wise, she’s alright. A bit above average. I’m not a fan of twintails, but beyond that, she’s a generic anime chick. Nothing much to say, really.

Personality-wise, Mayazumi is shy, timid, overly self-conscious, and when she does speak, does so in the softest whisper possible, making it hard to understand her. These are all negative qualities. I don’t remember if I mentioned this in a previous write-up, but I’m not a fan of the Yamato Nadeshiko archetype (thank you for teaching me the name, TVTropes) and I never have been. Mayazumi comes off as an especially inflated version of that.

I’m sure she’d make a good partner, though. It’s difficult to imagine her not.

Like Jennifer above her, I think Mayazumi could have been a great waifu but for her personality.

LOL’s first waifu down, Chandra’s got looks and not much else. She’s a Planeswalker, which as far as I can tell is a stand-in for the player.

Obviously Chandra is very hot, and that’s not a pun about fire magic. The flame hair is pretty and unique, assuming it won’t burn my couch or anything.

Her Personality is a little below average, though. Passionate, impulsive, hates authority… I’m sure these are all good qualities in a fight or whatever, but the only fights I ever get into are with the toilet, and the stakes are getting toilet paper unclogged.

PWC-wise, she’s terrible. She travels dimensions and fights thing a lot. Being a dimension adventurer is even worse than being a space adventurer, there’s zero chance of anything long term that way. Also, having flaming hair is going to make it hard to sleep next to her, I like complete darkness when I go to bed.

Overall, Chandra seems like a decent person and is utterly gorgeous, but I can’t see any way to make a relationship work with her.

Lady Maria is a boss in Bloodborne, a hunter who defected from her royal lineage, and a woman who tries to help horribly mutated people… maybe.

Maria has the second highest Looks so far, and I don’t think I need to justify that very much. One thing to note is that I hate Victorian aesthetics (it’s mostly because my distaste for steampunk has bled over), and she still manages to be very high. She manages to look gorgeous and very strong at the same time, and she ticks all of my personal boxes for attractiveness. If this was just about looks, Maria would be in the top ten.

So it’s implied that she has a gentle side in taking care of the mutated people in a particular area in the game, which is good, but Bloodborne’s ambiguity in storytelling means that she might also be responsible for it. And even if she’s not, the methods she uses to cure them are at best ineffective and at worst causing more damage. It’s also possible that she killed herself before you find her and that you’re fighting an undead version of her? Who knows. Either way, I can’t in good conscience give her a good Personality score, I just declared this to be a wash.

PWC-wise she is a mess. First she’s possibly undead, second she spends her time around people with crazy mutations that I don’t know if they’re contagious or not, third she spends the rest of her time slumped in a grimy throne in a hellhole, fourth her blood spontaneously combusts. Can you imagine dating a woman whose blood spontaneously combusts? You’ll just be talking about whatever, she accidentally bites the inside of her cheek while eating, and then four seconds later half of the restaurant is destroyed. No thanks.

Overall, Lady Maria would probably have been a lot better of a waifu if she’d taken a different path in life.

I think most people just take the average placement the user's choices got.

So if someone had their characters end up at places 10, 20, 30, 40, and 50. The average of those 5 numbers is 30 which would be that user's "score". Then you just sort those averages from least to greatest (lower score would be better since it's closer to 1)

Unless there's some other way people do this?

You can just do AVERAGEIF(all cells of who nominated them, specific person who nominated, all cells containing placement or containing looks or whatever item you want to get the average of that person's nominations)

So what I did was a sheet with a list of each user and the sheet which had all the ranked people who had already been posted.

=AVERAGEIF('The Ranked List'!$D$2:$D$201, CONCAT("nominated by ", $A2), 'The Ranked List'!G$2:G$201)

And then I just had that in the next cell. So it went through the specific username in cell A2(Who we will say is Koala), then went to all the ones in the list of people who had been posted where it had "nominated by Koala" from column D, and then got the average hotness placement from column G of all those people.

resistance_pro’s first defeated waifu, Megumi Katou is a high schooler who meets a guy who makes a dating sim featuring her. Wow, that’s pretty freaking weird.

Looks-wise, eh, she’s alright. She’s just another generic anime girl. There’s really nothing I can say about this, sorry. What’s interesting is that according to the main character, she’s the most beautiful girl he’d ever seen. If you want to show a girl who’s breathtakingly gorgeous, you need to a better job designing her than this, I’m sorry.

Personality-wise, she’s so normal and plain that the main character doesn’t realize he’s classmates with her, she has zero presence, and is really soft-spoken. Ouch, those are all really bad qualities. The only real trait I could find is that she has strong opinions about friendship and feels slighted when they aren’t followed. Yeesh, 80% of my interactions with my friends involve us throwing insults at each other, so maybe this isn’t going to work out.

PWC-wise, I’m sure she’ll be good. Apparently she has zero knowledge of otaku culture but still tries to engage with the main character, so it sounds like she’s at least always be easy to get along with. But she’s just so boring!

Overall, Megumi’s definitely not the waifu for me.

Poison is a character literally invented because Final Fight had too many “giant hulking guy” bosses and the developers wanted one who specialized in quick attacks, then they decided to make her a crossdressing man because it’s Japan. Then the West was like could you maybe not, so Poison is officially a man in Japan and a post-op transsexual in America, which is somehow more complicated than Vivian in Paper Mario. Also she’s named after a glam metal band. For purposes of this ranking, I’m going to use the American version of Poison instead of the Japanese one.

So Poison is pretty attractive. Not much else to say, really. Like Maria, she’s in the top ten for Looks, placing at number 8. I don’t normally like the slutty girl look, but she pulls it off really well, and the silly little hat adds something to her face that I can’t quite define. She’s not a cop, so I really don’t know what the deal is with those handcuffs.

Her low Personality and PWC scores are related, so I’ll just have one paragraph. She works for a gang that kidnaps a girl, which is a big turn-off, and “anyone who knows the real Poison will tell you she’s anything but ladylike.” In fairness, I’m pretty sure Poison is less evil than her allies and eventually gives it up, but really, if there’s any point in your life when you said “Yes, kidnapping a girl to blackmail her father sounds like a great idea” then no matter how much you regret it now, I probably don’t want anything to do with you.

Sorry, Poison. I can only imagine a relationship with you being… venomous.

Tara Grimface holds the dubious distinction of being the waifu I could find the least information on. “Lost Kingdoms” is the kind of generic name that means I may or may not have even heard of this series before. And what information I could find was tainted. Here’s her description from the LK Wiki:

Looks-wise, she’s very solid. Standard fantasy outfit, nice blond hair that hits all the points I like, just all around good.

Personality-wise, all I could find is that she’s distrustful and reserved. Well, I can imagine that’s true, if she’s part of a Guild of Thieves. What’s even the modern equivalent to a Thieves’ Guild? Is it the mafia?

PWC-wise, like, she’s apparently a thief and an adventurer. These are not great things to be.

Overall, Tara has some serious potential, but she needs to get over a few things first to be a really solid waifu.
