Full disclosure: I watched some Inuyasha when it was on Adult Swim. I do not remember this character at all. I remember the schoolgirl, Inuyasha himself, the little fox guy, and the monk with a black hole in his hand, but not Sango. And I think I’d remember a girl with a boomerang the size of a person.

Looks-wise, Sango benefits from the generic anime cuteness effect. Not much to say, really. There are a million Sangos.

Personality-wise, it’s more complex. I’ve gone on record saying that I don’t like Yamato Nadesico characters and that I find them to be boring, but Sango manages to be an exception. Compassionate, kind, responsible, brave, etc, but the key here is that she follows tradition, and it just so happens that her family tradition is demon slaying. I appreciate that, that’s pretty neat, and it makes up for the negative qualities of the archetype. In fact, she actually loses on points because the Wiki takes a special moment to say “she had feminine emotions and weaknesses.” Come on, guy who wrote this. I’m not even a progressive type of person and that line is painful to read.

PWC-wise, well, she’s a demon-hunting adventurer. Nothing really to say about that. I don’t fight demons so I won’t be able to keep up with her, and I have no skills that would be of aid to a demon hunter. It doesn’t sound like this would work out easily.

Overall… I could imagine a relationship with her working, but it would be an uphill battle.

Looks-wise, Ochaco pulls off the general anime cuteness pretty well. I hesitate to count school uniforms as fashion, but whether or not I do has little effect here. The hairstyle is the most interesting aspect here for sure, with that bob and weird little locks around her face. Makes her look a little ditzy, which some girls can pull off.

Personality-wise, she’s always outgoing and friendly, is easily excited and loses composure when confronted by luxury, and wants to be a hero because the money means she’ll be able to provide for her parents. That’s pretty nice. During stressful situations, she can also take on a crazier, scarier demeanor.

Her weakest aspect may be the PWC. I assume that if she’s my waifu, I’ll fall into the same category as her parents in regards to her wanting to make money to provide for us, but she constantly throws herself into crazy situations and would probably not appreciate my sense of humor, which is 99% laughing at ironic stupidity.

Overall, Ochaco is a definite possibility as a waifu. I see no major detriments to her whatsoever, but that comes at the cost of having no major attributes, either.

Scherazard is a main character and party member in Trails in the Sky, and follows a vaguely gypsy motif with tarot cards and so on. Is gypsy an offensive word now? I’m not up to date on my racial slur news. I’ll be honest, though, she does not score as high as another JRPG girl with a whip would have.

Looks-wise, yeah, she’s pretty damn hot. Good hair style, ridiculous JRPG costume, green eyes… I’m not really into the little gem on her forehead, but I can look past it.

Personality-wise, she’s okay. She’s kind and caring and more knowledgeable than her friends, but she has her vices and drinks a lot. She “practically forces others at whip-point to join in.”

PWC-wise, I can see a lot of positive qualities here, but the drinking is going to be a problem. I don’t drink, so her constant drinking will be a wedge between us.

Overall, Scherazard is probably not going to work out as a waifu for me in particular, but I can easily see her being an excellent waifu for someone else.

kateee's last waifu survives this far based on looks alone. Alice is a member of the Department of Defense, which in this universe apparently dresses its antiterrorism agents in the silliest way possible. She also may or may not be an Egyptian mummy of the same name and looks. Gotta be honest, if she actually isn’t All-ice, then that seems like a needlessly confusing red herring.

Alice’s looks are by far her strongest attribute, but what I really want to focus on is that she has the single most impractical choice of clothing ever. Ever. Tell me I’m wrong. In a million years I would not conceive of something as silly as that boob ring. Look at that, her breasts are clearly a little squeezed in there, which means that as soon as she moves her left arm, they’re going to relax and nothing will be hidden. This is why no culture ever has used this. And it’s a shame, too, because the rest of her clothing is actually really interesting and lends a lot of personality to her design, but it’s impossible not to focus on the boob ring. Oh wait, the Wiki says the DoD encourages its agents to dress in weird ways to throw off suspicion, sure, okay. Nevermind, folks, this is completely justified and I’m in the wrong.

Personality-wise, though, yeesh. Reading about her is just reading a long list of betrayals and hypocrisies. She does at least feel remorse for them and can be made to admit that she was in the wrong, but like, she still did them. The most redeeming thing I could find about her is that disapproves of killing a comatose child. Well, I’m glad we’re at least on the same page here.

As for her PWC… she’s at least got a good, steady job, and I infer from her actions that she’s unlikely to betray people she genuinely cares about. Still, I’m docking her some points.

Overall, I don’t know that I would really recommend Alice as a waifu. Even if I did, I’ll be honest, I would not be comfortable with my girlfriend running around everywhere dressed like that.

Ema Skye is a forensics scientist in Los Angeles, and I don’t actually know if it’s really LA or a fake LA that’s really Tokyo, because I’ve never played this series.

Looks-wise, she’s very solid. I’d say she’s about as good as you can be while being generically anime cute. Good eyes, good hair, good face, no problems whatsoever. I like her a lot here.

Personality-wise, she’s moody, dislikes talking to people, and eats too much. I’ll be honest, that’s kind of a description of myself.

PWC-wise, she’s got a really steady job and she’s a scientist, and she already lives in LA! Everything here is working out well.

Overall, I’m not too into her. With just a slightly better personality she could really rocket up in the ranks, but c’est la vie.

Cheria Barnes is a character whose Wiki page’s first sentence describes her as a “female heroine.” That’s probably all I need to know about the quality of this Wiki.

Maybe I’ll get arguments from people, but I don’t think she’s particularly attractive. She’s weirdly thin and lanky, her clothing is bright and gaudy, and her hair mounds on either side of her head just look ugly. This is a rare failure for generic anime cuteness.

Cheria’s personality is pretty okay. Positive, cheerful, wants to be useful, and she does her best to help people even to her own detriment. Fair enough.

Her PWC is her strongest attribute. She’s got a job (admittedly not a good one), she doesn’t have interests or a personality that clash with mine, and just overall it seems really easy to make something work here.

Overall, I can imagine something working with Cheria.

All good things come to an end. That has nothing to do with this ranking, I just like the phrase. She’s designed to be “the female version of Nathan Drake,” because no game is complete without some Rule 63, I guess.

Looks-wise, she’s pretty good. I should say that her pictures vary wildly in hotness, the one used for her Wiki is atrocious, but the hottest one is pretty good. She’s still not like master class hotness or anything, but just so that you have a reference, she’s only one point lower in Looks than the number 1 waifu on this list.

Personality-wise, she’s charming, intelligent, tenacious, and doesn’t get panicked easily. She’s got a wry sense of humor, which is also a plus. Everything about her works excellently, I see no difficulties here.

Elena’s PWC is where she falls apart. Like most lady adventurers, I’m just not likely to be able to keep up with her. I have a pretty normal life in a big city and she goes on weird archeology adventures for weeks at a time. I mean, maybe I could go on one or two with her just as a thing, but I have no experience being shot at in crazy third world countries while scrambling around with ancient artifacts or whatever happens in Uncharted. To be honest, I only know the series as the one where each game has a vehicle chase sequence.

Overall… I definitely see dating Elena, but as a waifu, I just don’t have the skills to keep up with her. That’s my fault, though, not hers, and for someone who’s also an adventurer, she’d be nearly perfect.

As I write this, my parents’ dog is hovering around me hoping I’ll feed her some more spicy tuna rolls. It’s a huge mistake to feed her anything. As for Maya Fey, I guess she’s a spirit medium I guess. You know, that most respected of professions.

Looks-wise, Maya is pretty good. I can’t really give her much more than that. She’s just pretty good. I’m not super into her hairstyle, but it serves. I’m not super into her face, but it serves. Nothing is bad, but nothing is spectacular.

Personality-wise, Maya is “childlike and spunky, touches strange objects without restraint,” and has her sanity questioned constantly. But she does have at least a little wisdom to her, so she’s not all bad. I’m willing to give her a few points in this regard, but not many. I’m sure she’s a perfectly pleasant person, but she sounds very ditzy, and as a guy from the place Valley Girls are named for, I know ditzes on sight.

PWC-wise, though, Maya seems very workable. She’s got a good job (assuming psychic powers are real in this universe), she’s not some kind of crazy adventurer, and she doesn’t seem unreasonable. I can very easily see this working out.

Overall, Maya is a solid waifu.
