I fucking love that stuff. I don't think it's overtly disliked or forgotten or anything, but I rarely see it mentioned when discussing best candies. I think it clears pretty much anything, though.

Project x Zone comes to mind for an actual, widespread release that I played that was that bad.

The cool crossover stuff lured me in, but the story was nothing, the strategy element was very drawn-out and tedious, and the individual combats were all exactly the same and grew stale extremely fast. I fell asleep playing the game multiple times because it was that boring, and I eventually conceded that I couldn't keep going when I realized I still had several chapters to go and was already despising the game.

There might be some random shovelware game I've played that's worse and that I've forgotten, but in terms of a major release that I bought at full price? PxZ has to at least be near the top. For a game that looks as flashy and cool as that one, it's the video game equivalent of watching paint dry.

I love Matt Mercer so much. It's rad to see him land these super high-profile roles.

The gameplay is pretty whatever. It's not bad, but it's not the draw at all. If you're considering it solely for the battles, I'd look elsewhere for sure.

The story is like 90% really good, but I feel like a lategame twist hurts it a lot. It's still a good time if you like visual novels, but I've found that other VNs stick the landing a lot better than 13S did.

Just to elaborate upon the twist for those who have played it, with a heavy spoiler warning for those who haven't: The simulation twist just didn't land for me and kinda knocked the game down a tiny bit. I saw it coming for a while, but I was hoping that it wouldn't go that way. I feel like that twist has been done a lot, and other stories have done it better, so it just felt like it took away some of the stakes for no real payoff. Removing that twist would have led to me loving the game way more, though I still like it a lot.

At the very least, I think I'd be calmer with regards to calling for help and not immediately buckling.

As far as me handling the snake directly...I sort of doubt it. I've been really scared of snakes for a super long time, and even seeing them in captivity makes me pretty uneasy. I think I'd struggle pretty hard to handle the situation myself unless there was literally no other option.

I did. I rinsed the wound after it happened and then used disinfectant once the snake situation was done just in case.

Just to explain the crying thing for what it's worth, it was a mixture of:
-I'm a very anxious person in general.
-I've very explicitly had a phobia of snakes since I was a kid when a snake chased me when I was out playing.
-With the strange clicking sound I heard and me not getting a good look at the snake, I was pretty convinced that it was a rattlesnake. I now know that it wasn't (it was some black snake), but in my panic, I was pretty sure it was.
-I was worried that the snake could have bitten my cat since she was near it.
-I wasn't sure who to call or what to do in the moment.

Basically, it was just pure, unfiltered panic with a lot of questions rushing through my head, and I just sort of broke down briefly.

It's more of a "This was a really wild thing that happened to me, and I'm trying to take it as a life lesson to do better in a crisis situation" thread than asking for hard advice.

So I had something kind of wild happen to me last night that really showed me how badly I panic when the chips are down.

In the mid-evening, I was just kind of chilling at my computer, when I suddenly started hearing a weird clicking noise. I thought it might be something wrong with my fan, or maybe a bug, but I didn't pay it much mind. However, I then saw my cat absolutely freaking the fuck out near my bookcase and grew suspicious that something was up.

I got up and looked, and to my absolute shock and horror, I find a 4~ foot long snake.

I know that some people really like snakes. I do not. Between just the shock of seeing it and the fact that it was making an unfamiliar clicking noise, I feared the absolute worst that it might be a rattlesnake. I grabbed my phone and my cat (who wasn't having it at all and absolutely shredded my arm as I was grabbing her against her will and carrying her away, but I was not going to take any chances).

So uh, I got to a bathroom, the safest room I could think of for myself and my cat, and just legit broke down. I tried calling my parents first, because I was just flat-out panicked at that point, but I couldn't even speak, I was just trembling and sobbing. After some negotiating and no one being super sure what to do with no pest control place nearby and not being sure if the police would even help with that, we settled on calling up a family friend to help, since he had some experience with that.

It was a long wait, where I largely just avoided the fuck out of the snake, but the family friend came and (unfortunately) killed the snake. I do sincerely feel guilty that it ended like that, as the snake didn't do anything wrong and just happened to somehow get inside, but the family friend kind of made the call and acted.

Honestly, I feel pretty shitty about how I handled the whole thing. Between how I broke down, the conclusions I jumped to, and just being paralyzed by fear, I was pretty much useless for that entire thing.

Other lesson of the day: living on the ground floor of a place that's in the woods in southern Missouri really, really sucks. The cost of living is quite cheap, but full ass snakes inside is just a bit more than I'm capable of handling.

From what I understand, the company hired a VA replacement for the deceased VA to finish lines and then, with the deceased VA's family's permission, used AI to artificially make the voice sound closer to the original VA.

I'm the first to criticize AI, and this story sounded awful when I heard it, but it's not quite as bad as it sounds.

I've had a nightmare of a time finding work, and I hate it.

I struggled finding anything out of college, so I turned to freelance writing and online tutoring with a contract based company.

That setup isn't really ideal for me any more, so I'm looking at moving into traditional work again, but employers won't give freelance or contract work a second glance. Even if it's not traditional, I'd think that my experience counts for something, but...nope. It's been a sea of quick rejections, getting ghosted entirely, and the occasional outright scam. I'm not even aiming particularly high, just at jobs that aren't retail/fast food/manual labor and ideally use my degree in some capacity. I'm lucky to get a single phone interview every few weeks, and those never go anywhere.

It's immensely frustrating and totally demoralizing. I feel super stuck, and I hate it.

The House in Fata Morgana is very likely my favorite game ever. It's superb.

There's a serious lack of Paranormasight recommendations in here. That game is very recent, but it flew pretty far under the radar. Super fun mystery VN with some Zero Escape vibes. It's a bit short, but it's a really fun ride and it's quite cheap.

Ace Attorney is always good for the two people in the world who haven't played that, too.

That movie in general is so much better than it had any right to be. It feels like a terrible, direct-to-DVD B-movie, but it's surprisingly good.

I mean, fair, but I see a lot of online applications that don't even ask for a traditional resume, and instead ask for a longer form to be filled out which includes that. It might not be prevalent enough to be considered in this data, though.

It's absolutely a common question on online applications. A lot of them have a "Prefer not to say" option, though.

It's not uncommon for applications to specifically ask you for your gender/pronouns these days. It seems really fucked up to disregard an applicant for answering that accurately.

It's just on the writers to do that stuff. And to their credit, they kind of did it in Shadows of Valentia. That game accounts for a surprising amount of random scenarios.

Paranormasight: The Seven Mysteries of Honjo is a great one that hasn't been mentioned here. It has more of a paranormal spin than traditional serial killer stories, but it scratches the same itch for sure. It's a fantastic, albeit short, VN with some really clever puzzles and a super compelling mystery.

Ace Attorney has been mentioned several times, but I'd have to advocate for it as well.

I'll also mention The House in Fata Morgana. It's a bit different, and isn't focused on serial killings, but it still has an extremely strong central mystery to it. It's also the best VN I've ever played. If you like mystery games in general without a murder component being necessary, I'd have to recommend that one.

My grandpa technically beat it.

Though it was still functionally fatal for him, ultimately. He had a significant decline in health after the cancer + chemo, and he spent the next few years falling a lot, having progressively worse mental problems, growing weaker, and so on, until he passed away last month.

After beating P5 twice (Vanilla & Royal) and watching a friend stream it, I can pretty firmly say that the entire group dynamic just becomes less interesting as soon as Makoto joins, and the plot as a whole becomes less interesting with her introduction.

The first few arcs had the cast trying to piece plans together using their individual talents and strengths, while their shortcomings came up in ways that felt organic. Then Makoto joins and just sort of hijacks the plot for the rest of the game. Ann & Yusuke in particular really suffer for it and basically never matter again after she joins.

Basically, the point where Makoto joins is the first point where the game just loses me a bit. It doesn't drop off that much, but it is a decline.

(For what it's worth, the Ryuji/Morgana fight is the other big quality drop of the game, and that one is much steeper)

Even ignoring everything else about this (the hypocrisy of conservatives calling schools too political/based in indoctrination, etc), there's absolutely no way that this stuff should be anywhere near a school.

I'm not surprised that one of these fungi inspired The Last of Us. It's seriously creepy.

I wouldn't mind a very slight aging, but I wholeheartedly disagree with the idea of aging the entire cast by 15+ years. At that point, it's an entirely different show and you'd likely lose a lot of things that made the original so good right out of the gate.

I'd be much more interested in seeing Hank navigate the modern world than I would be in a basically entirely new setup centered around adult Bobby.

Where did you get to in particular, and what didn't you like about it?

I think that the overall story is fantastic and I was hooked for most of the game, but depending on how far in, and if you're just not enjoying the game in general, it might not be for you. It's a pure VN all around, and that doesn't really change, so if you're just not enjoying playing it, that's probably not going to suddenly turn around. But if you're waiting for plot payoff later, it definitely pays off hard.

The revival was better than a lot of people give it credit for. Yeah it had some really bad episodes, but let's be honest, so did the original run.

I recently rewatched some of the newer episodes and was surprised by just how forgettable many of them were. There were some gems buried in there for sure, but a lot of them were forgettable to bad.

I don't think the revival was flat-out awful, but it definitely has a significantly higher percentage of weak episodes than the original run did.

Biden announced that he's pursuing other measures, but I'm not really optimistic overall.

I've had a crush on this man for years. He's my favorite VA by far and just a super cool dude all around. Love him.

I feel like this is falling into the same trap as some of the bad CC-era episodes: just flatly parodying current events, but with futuristic stuff/aliens involved. No real insight or interesting spin on it, just "This is a thing that's big in the news or pop culture right now!" episodes that age super poorly.

The original series episodes are significantly more rewatchable partially because they're much more timeless. Sure, there were a lot of references to current big celebrities at the time and things like that, but they felt much less in-your-face for the most part.

Given that the SCOTUS is functionally just right wing corporate donors legislating whatever they want, there's not much of a shot that this ends well at all.

From what I understand, the oxygen is estimated to run out some time between now and the next hour. The extremely miniscule shot of any kind of rescue seems all but gone now.

To add a bit more fuel to the fire, there's been a lot of evidence that Persona 3 Reload is coming to Switch as well, but that it hasn't been announced just yet. If so, I'd assume that it's being saved for a Direct some time soon.

This is very cursed.

She was fantastic in Scream 2. She's up there for one of my favorite killers in the series, mostly due to Laurie's acting.

I only do because it was a season finale and back then they used to do promos in character so having Hank actually think the fox network kill him off was hilarious to me. actually thinking back on it, the only consequence of that whole debacle was some bit character dying and for an episode hank was scared of propane and in another one he thought he was sexually attracted to Nancy but turned out it's propane that gets him off. Interesting how his japanese brother never appeared again nor did his younger brother and mother in law after his father's death. Kinda like Luanne's mother was a one off after Peggy beat her ass and Bill's ex wife was a one off after, well shit I actually don't remember who ran her off or if she just ditched Bill again, I do remember Bill got to have a threesome once and left both those girls like a chad then got with some fat lady for a bit, don't know what happened to her.

Man, much like the simpsons my formative years were full of futurama, king of the hill and some other shit that's a jumbled mess of memories in my head.

Some of these have a bit more to them than you'd think.

The Megalo-mart explosion kicks off a longer arc for Luanne with her hair gradually regrowing and her eventually seeing Buckley's angel and going to college. Sadly that storyline goes literally nowhere as she just sort of hangs around in college doing nothing for most of the rest of the series before arbitrarily dropping out and doing hairstyling again after all.

Hank's half-brother cameos again later in the series.

Didi appears briefly after Cotton's death. She mentions dating a professional wrestler, but GH does vanish from the series entirely.

Bill's ex basically just used him when she saw that he was successful and dating a governor. She still refuses to tell him where she lives and is just generally awful until Bill stands up for himself and moons her. She then leaves for good.

Bill successfully dates Kahn's mom, Laoma, and the two stay together at the end of the episode. Laoma is mentioned later on and Bill says that they're doing well. However, he's single later and she isn't mentioned later in the series, so they apparently broke up at some point offscreen.
