What I posted came from the news on Sunday.

He also argued [unsuccessfully] that he would need to receive his clearance. Which is why he wanted a longer continuance.

Smith pointed out he hadnt filed for one in the over three weeks since hed been told to do so. He also said that this hesring was regarding administrative matters and a clearance wasnt necessary for it.

Very embarassing for the lawyer.

Yeah Nauta is letting Trump use him. Dude is going to end up in prison.

real talk, could something get passed before his (potential) presidential win to make it so he cannot pardon himself? or would that also be something that theoretically he could do a way with if he wins? i thought presidential power wasnt supposed to be all-encompassing?

Hundreds of people have received prison sentences for January 6th so far and they're still arresting people left and right every week. (Even if many of them are getting lighter sentences than they should be getting)

People with decades-long careers are throwing their livelihoods and freedom away for Trump. Maybe law school cost about tree fitty decades ago compared to what it costs now, but still...

My understanding is that it wouldnt be a legal pardon that would survive appeal.

But our legal system is kind of broken at the moment so I wouldnt want to test that.

Trust in Smiths plan. He has a whole other set of indictments ready to go; he can prosecute wherever Trump took one of those boxes of documents. And he took them on the plane withhim evrywhere.

His excuse will be the same as it was when he lost in 2020, which was the same excuse he used when he lost the 2016 popular vote, which was the same excuse he used when he trailed early in the 2016 Republican primary, which was the same excuse he used when The Apprentice didn't win an Emmy in 2011.

Oh, I should clarify. I meant his excuse for wanting to delay the trial.

And if he loses in 2024, he'll probably announce that he's running in 2028 and request that the trial be delayed until after that too.
