The show had like 8 seasons and 4 movies - that's more than enough to just let the show stay dead. The series had like 6 endings and somehow they've all been quite good, so why risk ruining it and needing more?

And why is there a covid episode, when they've literally already done an episode about a pandemic spreading through the population and causing trouble?

can't wait. the comedy central eps get too much hate. there are only 3 or 4 that are true stinkers.

That trailer was awful but I doubt it represents the actual show's quality. Just another corporate streaming trailer created by people who don't understand the show's comedy.

This show just won't stay dead, haven't they bastardized the characters enough? most of them are completely unrecognizable from what they once were.

fourth run/third return, though it also has (at least) two extra episodes that were written as potential series finales.

Hell yeah love this show so much. Even the later seasons had some classics in with a few stinkers. Though Bender admitting he deserves some comeuppance is not normal.

I'm assuming this revival will be the final go round this time. If it gets cancelled again, I doubt we'll see the show be revived once again x number of years down the road. The reason being most of the VA cast is getting up there in age. Unless the next company that picks it up is willing to recast actors.

I'll have to watch the trailer later when I get some free time.

Still had a stronger quality then the likes of Simpsoms and Family guy so we will see if it can keep it up.

Everything else is getting revived, King of the Hill is also getting one soon.

I assumed the Comedy Central episodes would be the last. Whatever service has Futurama seems to get a real good repeat viewership with the show. I know I rewatch it often. Doesnt mean new episodes are as cost effective though.

I watched the movies, but otherwise dropped Futurama the first few episodes after it came back, just wasn't as funny or entertaining. But I weirdly want to check this out.

how far did you get? because the 5th-7th episodes of the CC run are all excellent. maybe give that season another chance?

Awesome. Futurama is one of my favorites, so I'm looking forward to this. I thought the last run was still hilarious. The eyephone episode, especially, was gold.

Futurama has always been heavily influenced by pop culture jokes.

I feel like this is falling into the same trap as some of the bad CC-era episodes: just flatly parodying current events, but with futuristic stuff/aliens involved. No real insight or interesting spin on it, just "This is a thing that's big in the news or pop culture right now!" episodes that age super poorly.

The original series episodes are significantly more rewatchable partially because they're much more timeless. Sure, there were a lot of references to current big celebrities at the time and things like that, but they felt much less in-your-face for the most part.

Because now they know that they wrote it wrong. If they wrote it the right way, Nixon would have been trying to convince everybody on Earth that the common cold is a Democrat hoax, and absolutely nobody would take basic safety precautions seriously or stay at home, because they've got libs to own and haircuts to get.

Also there would be conspiracy theories that the vaccine Farnsworth creates is full of 50G microchips and the population would instead eat buggalo paste.

The revival had some of the best episodes of the show. I have confidence.

Ehhhhhhhhh...

I recently rewatched some of the newer episodes and was surprised by just how forgettable many of them were. There were some gems buried in there for sure, but a lot of them were forgettable to bad.

I don't think the revival was flat-out awful, but it definitely has a significantly higher percentage of weak episodes than the original run did.
