One of my biggest issues in zombie movies/media in general is that either the humans win and escape/cure everything against all odds, or they end up getting shot or one last zombie jumps out at them or something. I like the few where the zombies definitively win and take over.

The same goes for most horror movies overall, really. The heroes either win, or kind of ambiguously lose with a teaser thing at the end via a last minute jump scare or something. I think it's fun to see the bad guys definitively win once in a while, be it zombies or vampires or anything else. Depressing endings are fun.

In a dramatic twist, TC is the source of the yellow jackets. At a young age, they witnessed a man in a yellow jacket murdering a close friend of theirs in cold blood. While they repressed the memory for many years, it's now manifesting through sleepwalking and capturing yellow jackets to release into the bed.

Make sure to get two shots of Novocaine if you're not sure. I've tried it with one in the two times I've had to have root canals done and it just doesn't work for me. I can still feel everything and it's absolutely miserable.

There's the tiny awful drill that you can feel going into the tooth, then the big giant one that feels like your tooth will literally crack open because it feels like it's way too big for it. It's not so bad after those two but those are excruciating.

I don't handle pain well and I actually cried after having one done. It was absolutely horrible and I can vividly remember the pain. Actually, I still routinely have nightmares about having it done and wake up in a cold sweat with my tooth throbbing simply from having nightmares over those bloody drills, even though it's been years since I've had it done.

Just...make sure you have enough Novocaine. One shot works for some but won't numb others. You want to be certain that you're fully numb.

Gay characters in anime tend to be terrible from what I've seen tbh. They're either girlier than the actual females, or total horndogs, or both, but they rarely have any real depth.

I don't watch the most anime ever, but it is a bit disappointing that the gay characters I've seen in anime are such negative stereotypes.

Is that anime in the OP really any better?

Let's look at the facts:

-Annie raised MORE money than Joan even after Joan was handed the win.
-Annie had a better track record as a Project Manager.
-Annie BEAT Joan head-to-head as a PM.
-Annie was praised by everyone involved as the best gameplayer of the season.

And yet Joan won?

Annie Duke was absolutely robbed. I expect a national outrage over this injustice any day now, and I expect an taped apology from Trump for making this mistake.

TopicJust got a 3DS and FE: Echoes: Shadow of Valentia. Which FE game next?
dotsdfe
09/03/17 4:09:30 PM
#14
From best to worst of the others:

Conquest is great. Story is lacking, but the gameplay is arguably the very best of the 3DS FEs. Interesting and varied maps and refined mechanics make this a fun and challenging game. I also liked the Nohr cast more than the Hoshido cast or the Awakening cast.

Revelation has a weak first half but a great second half. Story is flawed but more interesting than the other Fates games. It gets pretty overcrowded, but if you want to REALLY mess with characters, pairings, and class customization, this is the most open and accessible FE for customizing everything and is very fun on that level.

Birthright is pretty flat. So-so characters and decent mechanics but a really forgettable story and straightforward maps. Very skippable unless you're a diehard FE fan and are committed to beating everything.

Awakening is pretty bad and has fallen to one of my least favorite FEs over time. The characters are pretty forgettable aside from like, the really important ones and a few decent ones (Gaius, Maribelle, and Henry), the maps are all open fields with no real variety, and the mechanics are very busted and not in a fun way. It was okay at the time but aged awfully, avoid it.

I feel like 2 in particular gets too much hate. The arm's rampage was great and the robots were top tier R&M, with the rest being decent.

1, 3, 5, and 6 have all been classic R&M for sure though, IMO. Not honestly sure why this season is getting so much hate really.

I'd just start with 3 or 4. The stories are pretty much all standalone anyway aside from references and some silly YT theories that they're all connected (that have mostly been debunked by now anyway).

It's worth noting that 3 and 4 are functionally the same game in different locations and with a few mechanical changes. It's super super easy to burn out with that in mind; I beat FC3 a few years ago and played FC4 as of like a week ago (and beat it last night) and still got a bit burnt out since it was so same-y. I knew what I was getting into when I started it, but it's just something that's worth noting.

You may consider just doing FC3 + Blood Dragon and waiting a while for 4, or just doing 4 and going back to 3 if you really like it.

Just my opinion as a casual fan of the series at least.

I should add a note to this that I've only played FC3, Blood Dragon, FC4, and FC4's DLCs which I'm playing now via the complete edition on PS4.

I haven't actually played FC1 or 2, but I've heard that they're fairly dated and have decently large flaws. It's a bit unfair of me to recommend against a game that I haven't touched, but the advice I got was to skip 1 and 2 in favor of 3 first, and I know that even just playing through 3 + 4 and their DLCs can get fairly repetitive. Just worth noting that I'm not explicitly recommending against FC2 as much as echoing advice I've gotten and adding that repetition can be a big concern if it's similar enough to FC3/4.

I'm not even positive. Somewhere between gross and just disinterested I guess. Maybe more towards disinterested.

Before I knew I was gay, I thought I was straight for quite a while since I literally did not know that guys could like other guys, and would at least try masturbating to women. It would take a long ass time and quite a bit of work, and I found it really dull while wondering why people actually liked that. So in that regard I'd say that girls are more just "not interesting" to me than actively gross or anything.

In my case the family in question, this all happened about when I was 16 when I was starting to drift away from the church. I totally hated gay people when I was like 14 or 15, because that is what everyone did in rural Christian America.

Watching all that unfold as I was already disillusioned by the church though was a major part of me changing to being pro-gay rights. It all felt so avoidable. If Dan had just felt like he could be safe and not hated for being himself, he would have never married Lynn. Lynn may have been able to find love and been a happy person. Instead it was someone living a lie, they were clearly miserable the entire time they were married and it just broke so many lives just because people love to hate others.

Anyway, sorry you had to go through what you did. How do you look back on that stuff now? I think about the kids I made fun of when I was younger sometimes, calling a kid the f-word was super common and with some kids we actually thought were gay it got even crueler.

He's at least bisexual, but I think it's probably just gay.

He regrettably married a girl when he was 19. He regularly cheats on her with men.

This is one of the things that gets me about the anti-gay Christians I grew up with. One of my church friends growing up, his dad was gay but married to a woman. All us kids told my friend his dad was gay because he was like stereotypically gay with a lisp and limp wristed and everything. He cheated on his wife all the time but she was unaware until she got an STD and then he finally admitted he was gay. Tore apart the family, the woman is basically helpless now unable to do anything (not medical, just sort of broken as a person now) and their son is having all sorts of issues, people started sending the man threats and bad letters and he killed himself like 5 years later.

Growing up as a gay person in a heavily Christian environment can really really fuck you up. I know from experience.

I was bullied for years over being gay when I literally had no idea what "gay" was (I was very sheltered as a kid) just because I was different. I've also grown up around family members talking about how disgusting gay people are which persists to this day. When I eventually figured out that I was gay and the bullies had been right about me and that my family hated me without realizing it, I felt worthless and attempted suicide. I only avoided therapy by heavily lying for hours about various things but tbh in retrospect I should have gone through therapy because I still have severe emotional issues and am regularly anxious and depressed.

I also knew a dude in high school who was like, the most stereotypical gay kid in the world, but also heavily heavily religious. To this day I'm 90% sure he's gay, but he married a woman anyway. He routinely posts about how shitty his marriage is on Facebook through vague posts asking for prayers on his marital issues but never elaborates. I mean, I can't confirm that he's gay or anything, but I talked to him quite a bit and I'm preeeeeeetty confident and I'm almost positive that that's why his marriage is almost constantly in turmoil.

It's a genuinely awful thing to be gay and grow up in a really religious environment. It leads to a lot of denial, self-loathing, or both. I hear stories like the ones posted in this topic quite a bit and I know from experience that it can fuck you up pretty badly.

I think people are just expecting too much from it. It really doesn't seem any worse than the previous seasons to me, I think expectations were just a bit too high.

For what it's worth, the same thing happened between S1 and S2. I saw a lot of hate for every episode in S2 as they aired, but then people loved it in retrospect.

I think that the season has been fine though. The Vindicators episode was probably my least favorite of the season thus far because I felt like the last half was a bit too straightforward (It was really obvious that we'd lose one in each room after the first so that dragged on for me), but even then, it had some funny jokes and I enjoyed it overall.

Yes, he condemned hate -- in general terms. He condemned the violence "on both sides." He said repeatedly, through clenched teeth, and never particularly enthusiastically, "I disavow the KKK."

BELIEVE ME. The KKK got the message. The message they heard was, "We've got our guy in the White House now, and if he can't come out and telegraph his support for us, and he has to rap us lightly across the knuckles every now and then, then that's okay! We understand, and we read his wink-wink nudge-nudge loud and clear."
