I'm not really a big gun person, but I feel the need even more lately to have a house/vehicle carry, there's been increased shootings in my immediate... Well, neighnorhood, lol.

Any other suggestions for a simple but reliable daily?

Nope, Glock is pretty much the pinnacle of this. Easy to use, easy to maintain (but since it's a Glock even if you neglect it it will still function perfectly), every time you pull the trigger you can be confident it will fire. And since you're getting a 9mm it isn't that expensive to practice with.

Please do not listen to Tropicalwood, Hi-Points are not nearly as reliable as a Glock 19, they are not popular because they are prone to failing, jamming, or having some BS issue, that is not the kind of gun a rookie needs and a Glock 19 is a proven and tested weapon that rarely has jamming or stove pipe issues.

I am no huge fan of Glock but for a new shooter there is no reason NOT to consider a weapon that is reliable, comfortable in your hand, accurate, and highly customizable and has a ton of after market accessories.

BEFORE YOU BUY take a firearms safety course and get some training from a range instructor, do not be the idiot who just buys it, and thinks "job's done I'm ready for anything".

Ehhh, H&K's customer service hates you so getting replacement parts is a hassle. Now if he wants something really spicy he could get FNX45T and carry some underwood 45 super.

Blat blat blat. Guns are fun to shoot tbh. The only gun I have is a shotgun for home defense but a few of my buddies are huge gun nuts so I get to shoot cool shit when I hang out with them.

Springfield XD is just as reliable.

FYI, don't put certain non-Glock weaponlights on. It'll cause jamming unless you swap out your mag springs.

if you dont have too much gun expereince and just want something that will work and you can depend on it then yeah the glock 19 is probably the one to get. now if you actually plan to carry it through-out the day then you might want something thats a little more concealable. a glock 43 or an M&P shield might be a better option.

i would recommend getting out and trying them though. the best gun is going to be the one that you shoot the best.

Hi points are not unreliable. They are a good gun if that's all you can afford. But they are heavy and bulky. Glock 19 is superior.

if it's a stand your ground state, make sure to have concealed weapon permit. that alone will save self from being incriminated in an unfortunate circumstance.

i'm in favor for self defense especially inside the home.

Seems like Glock it is. I've shot before, and know general safety, but will absolutely be taking classes and going shooting a few times to brush up before I even make a purchase. Hopefully this doesn't somehow feed into a new hobby, I spend enough money as is.
And getting CHL obv

if you want a nice inbetween you can also think about a glock 26 which is smaller for concealed carry, but also uses the same magazines as the 17 or 19 so you can carry with the 10rounds while out and about and then put in the longer 17 or even 33 round magazines for home defense.

The gun hobby is a lot of fun but it is not a poor person's hobby, once you get drawn into it though expect to get a new addiction, but unlike drugs, alcohol, or smoking it's actually worth the money.

Been a gun "collector"/shooter/hobbyist since 2002.

If your looking for a concealable gun the Glock 19 or 26 are your best choices for 9MM, but try out both and see which one fits you best.

Chances are you'll never have to use a gun in a life or death situation, so you might as well get a desert eagle. Ammo is expensive and its too big to conceal or open carry, but at the range, when everyone is shooting 9mm or .22 or .38, you'll be going BOOM, BOOM, BOOM and everyone will stop shooting and look in your direction and envy you so hard. Feels good.

@bknight

Yes and you'll also develop wrist problems because of the recoil and how it's way to expensive to shoot along with the pain after popping off a few rounds.

The desert eagle is an over priced toy that is not as fun to shoot like everyone believes it is.

Heh my local range is having a "Glock day." Good time to renew my membership since they usually have a sale on that and other stuff.

I forgot to switch accounts, yet at the same time perhaps not since this is a gun topic after all.
