Depends on the outlet you follow. Most news is typical stuff, internaitonal Trump or NK stuff, dog stories, cat stories, cute stuff. There was one about some guy stealing thousands of apples from an orchard, but i found that on social media. News is boring here.

For hiragana and katakana it is easy. You arent learning vocab mind you, just reading the sounds and stuff. It is easier than you could imagine.

hows it in japan, or i should say, their big cities. like tokyo, osaka, kyoto.. ?

You should be fine in the big cities. Even smaller cities have English street signs, most of the time.

Do yourself a favor though and at least learn hiragana and katakana. Only takes about a week and you'll be able to at least read most things with it as a tourist. Trust me, it is really easy.

I use the trains when I need to. I dont live in Tokyo, so they arent crowded usually.

- My favorite things are how the people geniunely think about eachother. They will go out of their way to help someone, and ask for nothing in return. They really care about their communities, and the people in them.

I also really like a lot of the music out here. Japan has been having a great streak of amazing music the last 3 or so years.

- Least favorite thing is the conformity and lack of common sense. I mentioned it before, but people just don't think about their own wellbeing. Nobody stands up for themselves, nobody tries to fix things. Change is bad. It takes forever for change to happen. They also tend to not wash their hands and dont look in front of them at grocery stores, it is hard to describe but sometimes people just stand there and will get in everyone's way.

- i had a guy ask me if i wanted "Japanese sxu" once (said it exactly like that). Haha yeah right man, Im not gross.

- food is great. Most stuff is fresh and the auality is much higher than western food.

- the conformity is interesting. It works for Japan in a way, gut you also get this feeling of sadness from everyone. Everyone seems to need a aue to do anything. Nobody uses logic or common sense, it feels. Students won't answer most of the time unless you specifically ask them too. It feels really sad. Racism... well, my town is famous for having many South Americans, so my town is cool.

What is the worst thing to happen at your school while you were working there?

Do you watch any anime?

One time when I worked at a public school, everything shut down. Teachers gathered around a camera and started acting weird. Nobody would tell me what happened though. I never understood what it was, probably just some kid ditching school. I also saw some bullying. Two kids started fighting one dya because the other boy wasnt listening in class. He tried to jump kick the kid and wiffed, slamming into the ground. It was kind of funny in retrospect.

I atually dont watch anime. Anime isnt what foreigners think it is, and is mostly for children out here. Nobody ever talks about it openly, if they do.

That Metal Slug jeep does sound surprising. lol

- i go to the drink vending machines a lot. They have good coffee and other stuff in them, if you need it. There are mostly just drink machines thouh, occasionally ice cream.

- i moved here for various reasons. Mostly because I wanted to try it, but i eventually stayed because i saw how horrible the school systems are for kids (they are good schools, but it becomes very stressful and unhealthy because of insane workload and bullying). I wanted to stick around and help the kids have some fun classes, which isnt much, but I care about my students a lot.

There actually isnt even a pizza hut in my town (i live in hamamatsu). We do have two Dominos though.

Dominos is based on the old gross American recipe, I feel. Pizza Hut tastes exactly the same.

I never understood the abundance of American fast food chains in other countries. Is it just for tourists and people living/working overseas or do they actually have their own following with the locals? I find it almost hard to believe, but after that KFC article I guess anything is possible lol.

There are a LOT of Mcdonalds. Trian stations often have one, two, or even three right across from eachother. We also have Starbucks, the mentioned pizza chains, KFC, Lotteria, Dunkin Donuts (mister donut here), Baskin Robins, and some random others. Tokyo has a Taco Bell, a Wendys, and a Carls Jr, but they are just a single store.

Natives really like Mcdonalds. They even have some special items like Teriyaki, Omelette, and other different burgers. I actually think Mcdonalds is better in Japan, it isnt as Greasy and they still have a "dollar" menu.
