I resent people who bumble their way through obvious lethal.

I'm not surrendering because I can't see their hand. There is a small chance they might not have what they need, or they might misplay and screw it up.


But then they haphazardly play the cards that give them the most obvious lethal in the world and I wonder why on earth they felt the need to waste everyone's time thinking about it.



Most recently I was just playing mage vs a mill rogue.

We are well into the late game and it is the rogue's turn. If he can play 3 coldlight oracles (not difficult in the slightest) then my block will be popped and then I will die at the beginning of my turn. It takes all of zero seconds to figure this out. Just start adding numbers and stop adding the numbers when they become more than my current health.

He plays a coldlight.

He thinks for a moment. (He doesn't emote during this, so I think he was actually just trying to wrap his brain around the situation)

He plays his second coldlight (which is free because Valeera the Hollow shenanigans)

He ponders for another long moment.

He plays shadowstep and replays a coldlight.



This happens all the time. If you have lethal, then play the lethal. This is such a huge pet peeve of mine.

It's worse when they have lethal on board before even spending mana and inexplicably trade minions on the board instead

In fairness, franchise has always had a crazy storyline. I generally take Orlando Magic to the title in 2-3 years!

It's almost like being skill based and having RNG elements have to be mutually exclusive and there can be no overlap whatsover. We should all just play poker instead given the topics way above average win rate in a completely RNG based game, we are clearly wasting our luck on continuously winning in Hearthstone with zero skill

Also why bother asking VeryInsane how to play a deck when skill has no factor on results? Seems like a fruitless exercise and waste of time. Just throw the deck together, throw down whatever cards when you want whenever you want and let RNG decide the game since there's no skill involved.

Yeah we discovered last season that it is the lower pick you give.

Also that Steelers 25th pick is such an anomaly for a 6-10 team lol. Especially when you see that the entire rest of the AFC North is picking in the Top 8.

I beat the deck more often than not and I still fucking hate it. It's almost as easy mode as pirate warrior, but at least Pirates run out of gas after the initial onslaught.

I never had issues against quest rogue as I ran a faster deck than it but I imagine how I feel playing against big priest is how people felt against quest rogue

Sure quest rogue was more reliable but doesn't make it any less annoying to play against when there's nothing you can do against their bullshit when it does fire

That being said, priest is the one class I hate playing against most regardless of the deck or win rate against it. It's not overpowered, I just don't like playing against it

Like actual friends who I actively spend time with or just acquaintances? There's 4 who I consider good friends (i.e. we'd attend each others important events / go drinking with one another / have dinner together / etc). There's like 7-8 who I hang around with at least on a weekly basis.

Acquaintances there's a lot. I'm the corporate trainer so I train all new hires and a lot of them I stay on friendly terms with even after training but outside of work I don't really speak to them much. That's not to say I wouldn't spend time with any of them out of work if the situation arose, there's just only so many hours in the day you have free (same goes for a lot of the white guys I train too)

So what happens if you do not have the picks required for RFA? I assume it just doesn't let you bid for that player rather than doing something else right? I know I don't have a 1st (not that I've ever offered a 1st in RFA) so just pre-empting really

Right, most people are not good at making decks which is why I dislike them having an easy out. They shouldn't be able to compete on a level playing field against people who are skilled at making decks.

I think it's a lot easier to learn how to pilot a deck than it is to learn how to make good decks.

What I will say is that my win average in Arena has significantly decreased since the latest expansion hit. I started playing at Old Gods release and my Arena win rate has only ever increased over time until now at a gradual rate. I'd like to think I didn't suddenly lose my arena skill level overnight so that would support Maria's claim that Arena is less skill based now than before.

The problem I have with netdecking is entirely that people did not think of the deck themselves. If people came up with that deck of their own accord then great. If they are simply copying a netdeck because they know it's what works in the meta then that is what I dislike.

Creating a deck should be part of the competition. If someone is better at making decks that others, that should count for something. Netdecking might increase the skill level of play in matches but it removes the skill of creating a deck entirely.

The reason I want higher variance is because I'm tired of playing against the same things. Even if it takes some of the skill away, I'd prefer to lose to different combos or combos I didn't see coming rather than knowing full well after the draft that I am going to run into the same things I have little/no answer to. Sure there's the illusion of playing around things in Arena right now but a lot of times you know what the opponent has and there's not anything you can do about it.

If I wanted more skill and less variance, I'd play constructed. The reason I barely touch standard is because I hate playing against the same shit over and over. I prefer playing different decks and encountering different decks. It's why I dislike netdecking because so many people are just piloting someone elses deck rather than thinking for themselves and making their own deck.

People are allowed to have different opinions to you. I play a ton of arena too. I don't agree with what you have said but it doesn't mean we're both wrong, it just means we prefer different things.

Honestly after last weeks performance I was extremely worried about the Oklahoma game anyway. I certainly didn't still have us 2 or anywhere near the top 5 after Indiana. Our secondary is awful and has now been torched both weeks. Our wide receivers are terrible and create no separation making us very one dimensional.

Unless we show a drastic turnaround in performance we're going to end up with like 3-4 losses this year. And we can already forget about playoffs because no way are we winning out.

Can't even make the excuse of lots of freshmen because Oklahoma had lots of new starters too.

There's no reason they couldn't offer both standard and wild arena

I'd rather we had the increase in draft variance. You know there are certain overpowered cards that are pretty common than you're very likely to run into and if you don't have them then you're fucked.

I'd rather not run into things like Bonemare every single game and increasing the draft pool size would help with that.

the fact that it is not being immediately removed is still an insult to the human race, though. this post more or less confirms that they know it must be removed. they have known for over a month that EVERYONE hates it. and yet despite the fact that the game is being patched soon they STILL won't fix it until the next patch after that.

I would rejoin this game just so I could quit again over how stupid this is.

I'm currently on my third laptop right now (bought near the end of 2015). My first 2 laptops both lasted for about 4 years.

I'm on my 3rd laptop since 2005 but that number is skewed slightly because I replaced my laptop within the last year.

Laptop 1 2005 > 2010 (~$550)
Laptop 2 2010 > 2016 (~$700 but a manufacturer refurb. New like $950)
Laptop 3 Nov 2016 ($900 but a manufacturer refurb. New like $1300)

And I should say that they didn't break, they are both still fully functional to the point where I can go boot them up and play games with them. Never had to replace a part on any of them either (I upgraded the RAM in Laptop 2 but that's it)

I actually felt bad buying my new laptop in 2016 because of how well the previous laptop still works (Plays FFXIV just fine), I just saw a good deal on a new one so bought it. I should probably use Laptop 2 for streaming stuff to my TV or a server or something because it's still a pretty decent laptop given it's age.

Just lost an Arena game entirely due to the game processing a click wrong.

Paladin at 10 HP with the 4/4 lifesteal on the board. I know he has redemption up so he's getting 12 HP back for me killing it with what I have on the board but I'm not leaving it up because I don't want him to Spikeride it. Except when it comes back via redemption, the game processes my killing blow as hitting the minion next to it. . This is immediately followed by opponent using Blessing of Kings next turn and then Spikeridged the turn after. On a lifesteal minion that shouldn't even be on the board.

Ugh, get into a top deck war against a Paladin in Arena. He's at 10 health, I'm at 30 health + 9 armor.

He gets Lich King off Stonehill Defender and I draw the only 2 low mana cards I have left in my deck next 2 turns.

Guess karma for me winning my last 2 games off Lich King (which I have in my deck, not off generation)

Just played against an absolutely disgusting Druid deck in Arena. Not even at high win total either (was at 4-2)

Turn 9 - Spreading Plague + Strongshell Scavenger
Turn 10 - Ultimate Infestation (with 1 card in hand)
Turn 11 - Tortollan Forager + Bonemare
Turn 12 - Spreading Plague + Cryptlord
Turn 13 - Starfall + Strongshell Scavenger and I just conceded at this point

That is very possible that I threw some sort of wild card into a deck when doing some of those. I'm not up to Lich King yet but yeah very possible

Also jesus christ, someone just handed me an Arena game by dropping a 9 Mana Zombeast (Kodo + Stegasaur) straight into Mirror Entity. Had plenty of stuff in his hand and wasn't under enough pressure to force him to drop it right then.

Everywhere here is charging between $20-25. It's such a fucking ripoff.

I wish places handled it like most other PPVs where you get charged extra if your bar tab is below X amount. Because I always comfortably cover that amount but no way on earth am I paying $20-25 just to get into a bar.

Yeah was pretty much as you said FD. Too light on early game so ran into issues where I had awesome stuff in hand and could seize control of the board but had already been whittled down too much.

Ended up going 4-3. Most games I did get Curator and/or Sindragosa out but a couple of them it didn't matter because I had no taunts to block them from going face.

Bone Drake also gave me Onyxia twice. Sindragosa gave me Deathwing at one point but I never threw it down as I had board advantage. Trying to think what I got off Sindragosa. Leeroy Jenkins (never played it), Onyxia, Herald Volazj, Deathwing, Yshaarj, Benedictus. Also burned one from my hand being too full and me not thinking to check it. It rarely gave me bad legendaries really, tempted to craft it for my mage deck

Only a 66 tier score but this deck should at least get me a decent amount of wins I hope

Those mistakes happened at 2-0 to put me at 2-1. Now up to 5-1. So it may or may not have put me on an easier Arena route (obviously still better if the mistake didn't happen)

I think the current run is down to opponent draws/deck quality rather than my own skill/deck though. I've had a handful of 2-4 win runs recently where I ran into multiple significantly better decks than I have with this one so far. Which is good because this deck isn't that great, just okayish (64.1 rating on Heartharena but curves out well)

Need to slow my play down. Just caught myself making 2 misplays in the same match immediately after I made them

* Running the a 2/3 into a 1 attack minion instead of my 2/2 minion which left them both 2/2 and killable next turn instead of only 1 killable next turn

* Playing minions out of order. Dropped a Night Howler before Grimestreet Outfitter meaning I kept Outfitted in hand instead of dropping that turn

Both simple mistakes that likely cost me the game (in Arena if not obvious) from playing too fast. I rarely even see rope which is the likely problem
