Jesus fucking christ, Priest is like the most frustrating class to play against sometimes.

In Arena:

Thoughtsteal > Gets a molten reflection
Buffs up a taunt with Tentacle for Arms (4/10)
Molten reflection on the now huge taunt
Free from Amber > Ysera (behind two big taunts)
Curious Glimmeroot (which offers him Molten Reflection which of course he fucking knows started in my deck)
Molten Reflection on Ysera

I'm pretty sure this was on all curve too or close to it. I managed to clear both the taunts just before he used Molten on Ysera

Also as an FYI, it's generally better to have the good player in hand rather than draft picks. KCF tends to tells us that we overvalue draft picks. As a reference here's the ratings of my draft picks at time of picking them (I tend to pick somewhere near the middle of the round but I've traded a lot of picks too)

1st - 80, 82, 80, 80
2nd - 80, 78, 79, 79
3rd - 75, 78, 77, 75
4th - 77, 75
5th - 76

And most of my 6th and 7th I cut before writing down what their rating was (usually low 70's, my sole 5th being a 76 is higher than the norm)

Obviously those players improve over time but certainly don't expect 1st and 2nd to become guaranteed starters. Players need playtime to improve and they also need to be semi-successful (or be part of a successful unit). So it's very possible to draft high picks who don't see much improvement

KCF might be able to show you some trades that have taken place in recent years to give you a good idea of player value. Some positions are also scarce for higher rated players too (CB's spring to mind, I think MLB's too, OLB's to an extent and I think a lot of the good Guards and Centers are old)

Oh and HB's are worth virtually nothing, even highly rated ones, because they are so readily available and tend to develop pretty easily.

Never played Warrior before but up to 5 wins in Arena so far. Ended up drafting a lot of neutral cards as wasn't ever certain on what Warrior cards were good. Think only War cards I drafted were Fiery Win Axe, Arcanite Reaper, Protect the King and Execute as I knew they were good

If it were 5 mana, I'd agree with you, but 6 makes it a hard card to justify for that statline against other decks in the meta. It's an interesting tech choice, but I wouldn't expect to see it on ladder.

I half expect someone to come up with a deck that uses it as a self-thinner for their own deck. Kinda like the Hemet decks.

Also if we're still talking about the legendary thing... I got legendaries in the first 10 packs of every set that I opened. I even bought Old God sets and got a legendary in my 4th pack. My roommate also got a legendary in the first 10 packs of every set. He got 2 legendaries in his 3rd pack of Old Gods.

All I can tell you is that I absolutely did not get one in 13 Gadgetzan packs. And I know full well it was 13 because I paid for them all with money rather than gold.

The Rogue card kinda strikes me as a win more card unless you absolutely just need to survive that 1 more turn. 9 mana to do nothing to the current board is a lot.

This is one of the best board projects I've ever been involved with (tied with Maria's ITD). I highly recommend it to anyone who is remotely interested. You can be as hands on or off as you want. Some people set their roster and then forget it. Others are highly active with changes, trades, requesting stats from KCF. Some people even haggle over like 10k on contracts for 7th round picks! Both approaches are fine.

There are also wild swings in fortune. I'm pretty sure the Jets went from a Superbowl one season to worst record (or close to it) the next season. We also had the AFC North look like the strongest division 2 seasons ago and then literally have a 6-10 division winner the year after. So even taking on a bad team, you have a chance to reverse their fortune pretty quickly.

KCF puts an insane amount of work into this project and you will not be disappointed. We also have fun in the live chat and topics. I really regreg not getting involved in the project earlier (This will be my 4th season but I almost joined 2 seasons earlier).

Waiting in the off-season for B8 NFL is as painstaking as the real off-season. I already want it to be september!

I'm still bitter I bought 13 Gadgetzan packs last night and got no legendary! Did get legendaries from classics and Ungoro albeit terrible ones (Cenarius and PLD quest)

Pity timer didn't work for me on Gadgetzan

Took me 9 Ungoro, 5 classic but after 11 Gadgetzan still no legendary

I don't understand why people don't wear them. I don't even notice mine after it's on, it's not even remotely inconvenient so I don't get why you wouldn't wear it

I like that card. It has always bothered me that hearthstone doesn't have cards that either remove from your opponents hand or deck. There's so much removal for played cards but not for cards your opponent is holding

Ah so of course after saying that I get bitchslapped into a 2-3 Rogue run next Arena run.

But it's ok, it rewarded my badness with a Golden Kalimos. Primal Lord from the pack. That's my first golden legendary

Man, arena skill level is really terrible right now. So far today:

Mage - 12-2
Rogue - 6-3
Paladin - 5-3

The Paladin deck in particular has no fucking business getting 5 wins. When I drafted it I genuinely thought I might get zero wins with it. It is possibly the worst deck I have ever drafted. Absolutely no early game whatsoever and all mid-late game were bad cards.

The experience when you are on the receiving end of a discover is much worse than how good it is to be on the side of discovering it.

It's basically how you feel when priest thoughtstole a card from you and kills you with it somehow, only you can't play around "Oh this guy got a random card from somewhere, do I play around Tirion or the 3/3 everything guy?" "Wait this guy discovered something from priest, warlock ,or mage? Fuck which aoe do i think he has?"

It's especially bad in Arena. Just had someone on mage with an empty hand top deck the 2/2 minion that lets you discover from 3 classes. Discovered Greater Word Pain to kill my Deathwing that would have given me lethal next turn.

I still won anyway but that sort of stuff shouldn't happen.

I kinda wonder how much better I may have been if I had gotten a decent QB. I tried getting Aaron Rodgers a few years back and I tried getting Drew Brees too. I'd guess that would have potentially changed 2 of my draft picks too (I took a QB in the 1st and 2nd in the last 2 years). Doubt it's enough to make a significant change though given how awful we were this year. Probably enough to break into playoffs previous years.

The problem is that she needs too many discards to be remotely playable. Not like she's going to be coming out on curve (at least not big) and she's going to be a prime candidate for immediate removal regardless of size. Maybe if she started out at 3/5 or cost 4 mana she might be playable? I mean Darkshire Councilman does the opposite of her for a similar buff, is cheaper and puts bodies on the board.

Unless they're going to add a way for Warlock to mass discard early and replace those cards with new cards. Giving you the ability to make her big very quickly and early

Playoffs were awesome. We got to see the Patriots eliminated by a 6 win team and in humiliating fashion!

I think most fans would be ok with that tbh. I'd take making the playoffs every year with the slim chance of getting a deep run. It's pretty much the best you can hope for with the current teams around.

Yeah, the Hawks are not a very good comparison. In the last 10 years:

Hawks - 10 playoff appearances, 8 years above 0.500, 1 conf finals
Pistons - 3 playoff appearances, 2 years above 0.500, 1 conf finals
Magic - 5 playoff appearances, 5 years above 0.500, 1 conf final, 1 NBA finals
Pelicans - 3 playoff appearances, 3 years above 0.500
Bucks - 3 playoff appearances, 3 years above 0.500 (well one is a 0.500 year)
Hornets - 3 playoff appearances, 3 years above 0.500

Timberwolves haven't made the playoffs since 03/04 and haven't had a 0.500 plus year since 04/05 but I guess at least they look interesting now? The Kings are in a similar position (05/06 their last playoff appearance and above 0.500 year)

I guess the Trail Blazers are sort of a good comparison. They have more playoff appearances (7) and more above 0.500 years (8) than the Pistons but they rarely make it past the 1st round (2 times), are fucked salary wise and are likely on the decline because of it (plus people around them getting better). Kinda just good enough to scrape in and not getting good draft picks but too many steps away to make any sort of significant jump. If anything they have just overachieved enough to shoot themselves in the foot.

For what its worth, Steelers lost their best 2 players on defense for the season in Wk16. So there's every possibility that Ravens second string still win anyway

Looking at it, best case for 4 wins is #2 pick. Worst case for 5 wins is #6 pick. We don't know who is on the board so hard to say either way

Actually has bigger implications for Steelers/Browns pick I think. Playoff bound they pick 21-32 right? Non playoff bound they could pick as high as #7 (6 wins is that 7-11 cluster right now)

I'd also sit my starters in same position as him now. Better draft picks and playing time for kids. However, KCF has said before that doing so isn't prudent. Probably because playing in losing efforts can cause ratings drops for other players and I'm not sure how much difference playing in 1 game makes on rises for next year. But then again losing or winning that game could have like a 5+ place swing on draft day

It is a questionable thing since it's kind of inseparable this season, the difference between sitting starters for purpose of getting reps to younger guys and sitting starters to chase #1 pick, since there's so many teams vying for it that even one more loss could make all the difference.

Just to outline the exact scenario from 2 years ago where nobody batted an eye

#1 seeded 12-3 Ravens lost to 8-7 Browns after starting second string team (and announcing it). Browns and Steelers both finished 9-7, Browns won tiebreaker. Ravens then beat the Browns 27-6 in playoffs when using real team (Ravens made the Superbowl that year fwiw)

Iirc Ravens were on a 10 or 11 game winstreak prior to sitting their starters or it had just ended. They definitely had a lengthy streak going

I don't care whether he sits his starters or not. I made the comment half tongue in cheek because 2 seasons ago the Browns beat the Ravens Wk17 after the Ravens sat their starters which cost the Steelers a playoff spot. And now the situation is the same in reverse

I will say that wiki announced he was sitting his starters prior to that game and nobody batted an eyelid. Only comment on it was post game by KCF saying it likely cost me a playoff spot

Also, I absolutely would put kids in for reps as soon as I was out of playoff contention. You get your kids reps and you likely boost your draft stock. I would have still done that even though I don't own my 1st.

If Wiki tries to sit starters and KCF rules he has to play first string to avoid any sort of issues, I would 100% be ok with that. Just wish the same fuss was made when this came up 2 seasons ago

Yeah, I would have bet a small fortune on it if it was still available by the time I got home. I'd say 40.5 wins is the ceiling rather than middle. I can see an argument for making a small to decent improvement but 29 > 41 is huge.

Things we have going for us:

1. Rest of East has largely regressed
2. No major losses (Jodie Meeks is the only player we lost)
3. No major changes in roster. which hadn't been true last few years. Also second year under Vogel for entire line-up except Rookies and Ross so might be better suited to his system (Ross acquired at trade deadline so still benefits)
4. Looked a hell of a lot better post all-star break last year. Also suffered a lot of 4th quarter collapses which may have been mental or may have been deliberate tanking
5. Contract year for quite a few key players (Qualifying offers for Gordon, Payton. Team option for Hezonja). Some key players also hitting that 4th year as a pro where taking a step forward isn't uncommon
6. New management so might be better organised behind closed doors, more eagerness to play well (plus Hennigan likely had little respect)
7. G-league team relocated to Lakeland (45 mins away) rather than Eerie so fringe players can more easily get minutes

But I mean that's also a lot of grasping and might be grounds for like a 5-7 game win jump with the same players. Not a 12 game jump.
