Yea I can see that, theres just too many blocks to progress and even if you wanted to drop $5 on the game the prices are too high and nothing is worth that money anyway.

To me clash of clans is still the top f2p game in terms of how it allows f2p people to progress while still encouraging ppl to waste money on the game. But with SF I feel like I keep getting to points where I want to try and grind something but I need 5 avengers characters first or some nonsense like that

Game is fun to play on the toilet when I take my morning dump but it feels like such a grind to get any characters at all. I get that this is the point of the game but youd think theyd at least have more accessible heroes, and everyone I play against has the same luke cage / Spider-Man / wolverine / crossbones / elektra team

...when you're at some kind of social event talking to a person, and they mention some kind of funny youtube video, and then they pull out their phone and load up the video and show it to you to watch, and it's like a 3 minute video that they arent cutting out early, and you have to sit there and watch the entire video, and in order to be polite you pretend like it's amusing you, and usually the video is the lamest shit ever because the kind of person that shows you things on their phone at a social gather has a terrible sense of humor, and this whole time you're watching a 3 minute video on someone's phone you're isolating yourself from the rest of the people at the party

i think a lot of ppl who identify as Christians are more "culturally" religious than anything.

like they have a belief in God and a small religious foundation, but it's not a day to day thing for them, it's more of a heritage thing, another identifying aspect like ethnicity or skin color or w/e.

many wont admit to this because it's not a good look to say "yeah i'm christian but i really half ass it" and it's still taboo in a lot of the US to even doubt your religious upbringing.

Jesus didn't believe in violence and he also spent his life helping the poor. He said himself it's basically impossible for a rich man to get in to heaven, yet you people worship the rich. You claim to care deeply about babies, but once they're out of the womb you don't give two shits about what happens to them.

meet some people who are truly devoutly religious and you'll see a real difference IMO

heres how it works when you graduate:

a small portion of the students are hyper-motivated and naturally predisposed to working professionally. they probably had like 3 internships, are presidents of a club, etc. these guys get the six figure entry level salaries with Google, Apple, MS, etc

the rest of you have to work hard to bridge that gap. that means pursuing certifications, self-teaching new skills, networking with everyone you know, practicing interview skills, getting out of your comfort zone and going to industry meetup type events, having people critique your resume, etc.you may also have to consider doing contract work, taking a "lesser" job that will get you to the type of job you want in the future, contacting recruiters, etc.

basically you have to hustle, that's the nature of working for most people in 2018

The bold seems about right. I know people who got 6 figure jobs and people with great internships who have told me they can't believe how easy it is to be successful and I'm just like...

lol

I think you have to be a special type of go-getter person to actually make 100k at your first job.

or just lucky, know the right people, etc.

one thing you'll learn as you gain professional experience is that the working world is that it's really not based on merit & ability like you're led to believe in college.

there's that old adage that success is when opportunity meets preparation, and i think that is very true.

ask yourself if you are doing everything that you can to get a job. are you hunting for work like it's a full time job? are you revising your resume? are you tailoring it for each role? are you researching companies in your area? are you connecting with people to see if anyone can help out? etc

idk about where you are but right now the job market is pretty hot so now is the time to put in 100% effort and roll the dice

It's a cultural thing. People have gone to countries where women don't wear shirts ever and told them that in first world countries men like breasts and they laugh and get confused as to why men act like babies

it's because women in countries where it's normal to have your boobs exposed dont have some sweet titties like american women

seriously, it's nbd down there because all the women have these saggy old knockers that go down to their waist

i would say self-awareness is what really defines the human consciousness and what makes it supreme over animals or machines or w/e

the ability to understand our emotions/experiences/life/death/whatever beyond what is happening in the present is the big one in my opinion, it's a pretty incredible concept when you think about it. if you think of a human being without this essential sense of self-awareness they're either very young children or complete insane psychopaths

the idea that you can now make a career out of streaming is super poisonous to gaming, it will lead to its downfall imo

But can you though? The scene is getting more and more crowded and competitive by the day; does some random really have much of a chance to get a substantial enough following to make a career out of it?

yea it's pretty damn hard now, but that's not the point im making.

the point is that now there is a dream in place for potentially every kid that they can make a career out of streaming or get famous for it, or at the very least make money (for a kid that has $0 income, making money out of gaming has always been very lucrative).

so what will, and probably already is happening is that now many people are going to play games not because they like them but because it's their dream to be famous and adored and make money and get shit for free, and whenever you add a profit incentive into an activity that never had one it doesnt really bode well.

reminds me of youtube, for example, where it started out as people having fun and making funny videos because it was enjoyable, and now that you can make a living from it, the site is all people baiting views, trying to game the system, etc.

this is an old man rant but i kind of see gaming going in this direction in the future, where increasingly more and more games will be designed as to provide as content for histrionic kids to broadcast themselves moreso than games designed just to be fun, if that makes any sense

sopranos is probably the best tv show ever made imo, enjoy

season 1 is a little bit slow but eventually you'll warm up and know the characters, the subplots etc. as someone else said, the episode "college" is where the show really grows into itself.

its hard to put into words how good james gandolfini's acting job is as tony soprano, and the writing is equally as good. he's a VERY complex character.

Thanks for all the info. I have a 2014 Macbook Pro but I've started to really disdain the Apple ecosystem. That's another reason I'm considering it.

I looked it up - apparently SP5 has 50% better battery life than SP4, so that's something.

You'll hate the keyboard. I'm telling you now, as someone who had a pro, and now uses a surface book, get the surface book.

i dont think the pro's keyboard is that bad. the keys have good travel and the type cover is definitely a good quality keyboard, but there is kind of a "hollow" feeling to the key presses because the keyboard is raised and since the screen is so small on the pro, the keyboard is a bit smaller as well. you should go to a best buy or something and try it out if you're considering the laptop.

my wife has the surface laptop, however, and i think that has one of the best keyboards i've ever used. we found one with identical specs to yours in a black friday sale for like $900

more details

Pros
- Really good build quality
- Very fast
- Super light and compact, great for travelling or throwing in a small bag
- Type cover keyboard is surprisingly good, touchpad is good too, and obviously they're replaceable
- Surface Pen works really well for quick note taking or showing someone a picture
- Very good screen quality, I don't think you'll find a better screen in that price range
- I love the magnetic charger, it's like the one on old macbooks

Cons
- Battery life sucks on my 4 and I hear it's not better on the 5. I get like 3 of usage on average
- The surface is usable on your lap but it sucks, it's only really good on a table
- Screen size is small, as is the keyboard, so it's not really ideal for intense work that involves a lot of keyboard input and multitasking
- I use the touch screen a lot but the Surface as a tablet is kind of weak due to Windows 10 Tablet Mode not being that great
- Only one USB port

Verdict: I really like mine as a travel laptop, something I can do light work on in a portable sense. However as a main computer it's kind of lacking due to the small size and the fact that it's only really comfortable to use in certain conditions (regular table). If you need a main PC for everything in your life I'd get something else, if you want a light and well-made PC mostly for being on the go then the Surface is a good call
