Confirm. If you haven't saved up enough for retirement despite going through an unprecedented boom with cheap housing and cheap education and with social security well then too bad. That's on you. Let the next generation get their chance.

You just don't understand how hard it is for them, how do you expect them to be able to retire on a combined income of a meager $350,000 when they need to buy inground swimming pools, luxury SUVs, and 80" 4K TVs? Their next door neighbors just redid their kitchen so now they have to keep up, that's another $15,000 expense right there.

My mother complains how she can't retire, last year they spent $5K on window treatmeants, I don't even know what that means

They shouldnt need to be there. That wasnt a thing before obama was in office. Now peoples retirement funds dwindled so far because they were forced to buy medical insurance that nobody could afford. Now we have people well past retirement age working at grocery stores and restaurants.

Yeah, life was just better before obama.

I see people do this all the time and it makes me angry beyond measure. Using excel as a calculator is basic as all hell and people refuse to make their lives easier.

I have fucking macros that do what takes someone half a day to do in like 10 seconds. People need to start learning to use at least some basic excel functions.

That's great but what do you honestly expect a person to do if that's the situation they're in?

The worst part is Excel automatically spits out the sum, average, and count of all highlighted cells in the bottom right corner. All his coworker would need to do is select the damn cells.

I fucking love Excel, I tinker around in it for most of my working day, I like figuring out new ways to organize my budget/investment data.

It's not that simple. But then, I can guess from your attitude that you have never gone hungry or been cold. Daddy's money goes a long way towards teaching these kinds of attitudes. Not everyone has that. And don't say, "they should have worked harder", because that doesn't matter either. CEO's sit on their asses and play golf while people that make 1/50th of the money do the actual labor. I'm not saying that they don't deserve to be paid, but when you make that kind of money, it's easy to forget what it's like to live paycheck to paycheck.

Not so long ago I temped at a government agency in the admin department in between jobs. They gave me a data entry project they were sure would take me a week as they had to do it yearly and that's how long it took their senior admin assistants.

Took me 1 hour to figure out the appropriate excel function to do it, which automatically sorted all of their thousands of records into the format they needed. They said I should contract as a consultant for them after that.

I'd never fucking dream of working there because it's just full of dinosaurs who are going to be there until they die, but it was interesting to see how far behind they were in basic data entry.

Lmao any schmuck with a GED could get a dumbass job that could provide for a family of four back in the day, all they had to do was throw a little bit of money in a 401k and pay their mortgage and not carry a credit card balance and they could have ended up as millionaires by now.

This hinges on nothing going wrong, ever. That's not real life. We don't all have Daddy's money and connections to fall back on.
