Yeah, my friend who works on BCS called me not long after it happed. I know a few people that saw it, apparently chest compressions were a used, and a defibrillator was either used, or primed to be used. Definitely a scary thing, but Sony's response to the Crew was good, which is basically in a holding pattern atm.

Topicpirates 3 makes no sense
CyborgSage00x0

It's clearly an example of not having a full story for a trilogy in mind, so when the original Pirates became a massive hit, sequels were necessary, so they had to keep it alive.

I'd say it's less that the plot doesn't makes sense, in more that it gets bogged down by giant set pieces (that they clearly envisioned first, and then based the story around after), and too many new characters and premises to keep track of. The giant whirlpool at the end of 3 comes to mind: they used that shit in the trailers a ton, and was clearly meant to be the big finale set piece. But it's only there because Calysto gets set freed and she....makes it, because she's actually a sea diety, or something. So, this is supposed to be scary and terrible, but both fleets gleefully sail into it anyways. "Fuck it, it looks cool!" is basically what's going on there.

Ditto with Jack being kidnapped by natives on the one island in 2, or them being in China to meet Chow Yun Fat, etc. All of these makes for spectacle pieces, but absolutely did not need to exist. The plot, what with Davy Jone's curse, his heart being in the Dead Man's Chest, the East Indie Trading company blackmailing Davy to rule the ocean and exterminate pirates for corporate wealth all pretty much works, it just gets bogged down with giant set pieces and confusing time wasting moments, and cranking up the zaniness of Depp's character to where he's less menacing, and more gimmick. Compare this to the tightness and succinctness of the 1st movie, where the plot glides from point A to B in a nice, linear fashion, each scene building off the next.

Which is a shame, because they managed to turn old nautical lore into some neat ideas, like Davy, an actual Dead Man's Chest, the kraken, etc.

ParanoidObsessive posted...
The implication seems more to be that she's pretending to have something for Jack, so she can manipulate him into doing what she wants. And then later she feels guilty about it not because it conflicts with how she feels about Will, but because she's afraid Will will be mad at her for being that callous (which is essentially exactly what happens).

If anything, I'd argue that Elizabeth's entire narrative line in the second and third movie is that she's slowly turning into a pirate, with all that entails.
Indeed. Which, I also thought didn't make sense anyways (Will being mad), since Will basically went full-on pirate since at least the end of the 1st movie, and makes it pretty clear he thinks Jack is expendable in 2 & 3. So him being mad at Elizabeth joining the pirate party, and her being concerned he wouldn't like it is kinda at odds with, like, everything they do.

Viewtiful Joe, Eternal Darkness, Advance Wars.

Advance Wars seems likely, now that I.S. is remaking 1 & 2 on the Switch. About damn time.

ED came damn close to getting a sequel, and Nintendo keeps refreshing the rights to it, so perhaps someday.

VJ...I have no idea what Capcom is doing with him. They keep him semi-relevant by putting him in MvC3 and whatnot, but they probably missed their window for relevancy with VJ3. I keep thinking he'd be a great Smash Bros. character, which would segway nicely into VJ3/ VJ 1 & 2 collection, but alas.

any behind the scene gossips to share?
That's a pretty wide subject. Here are some random ones:
-no entity on Earth comes even close to Covid testing/restrictions than the current film biz, aside from maybe the White House, and that isn't hyperbole. I have friends and family in the military, hospitals, labs, etc., and we beat them all. I have to Covid test at least once a week, every week, and wear a mask 12+ hours a day. Some Crew get tested 3 times a week. Others and Cast? 5. They may change these rules soon, but in 2 weeks my state will be fully open, and yet I still will have to treat Covid while at work as if it's April of last year.

-Hilary Swank was probably the most annoying actor to work with for me. Sure caused a lot of problems for just 3 days of filming, and has the most insane diet/eating regiment I've ever seen. I think she can only eat certain fruits and vegetables, and that's it.

-The Masters of the Universe film might shoot here

-There's a huge affirmative action, for lack of better word, push in the film biz right now, especially for women, in elevated positions (director, EP, etc.). Which is causing quite a few headaches. "Have any clue what you're doing? No? Well, do you have a vagina, or check a quota box we are trying to fill? Great, you're hired!"

Is that a problem with granite itself? Or something else?
Technically, any soil/ground manipulation can release radon, but granite in particular has higher amounts of radon trapped inside (packrat seems more knowledgeable on it, so he can elaborate). Even granite countertops emit very low amounts of radon emissions. Radon is the 2nd highest cause of lung cancer in America, (far) after smoking.

Like I said though, detecting it and resolving it is relatively inexpensive and easy, and areas with high granite ground bases already have buildings constructed with radon exhaust in mind.

I've been looking to buy a house since January, and actually looked at an open house that disclosed the radon level was higher than acceptable, so work would need to be done on ventitlation thereof.

If either of you live in NM, then quite possibly. There are 10+ projects actively happening/about to happen all at once, so it's crazy busy here, and we are basically out of Crew to fill all the projects. By my count:
-Better Call Saul S.6
-End of the Road (Netflix feature)
-Outer Range S.1 (Huge Amazon TV show)
-Stranger Things S.4 (Big unit, in pre-production currently)
-MacGruber S.1 (based off of the SNL skit/movie, in pre-production)

-Roswell S.4 (almost in pre-production)
-Trigger Warning (Netflix feature, almost in pre-production)
-"Sandy Cheeks" (SpongeBob live-action, almost in pre-production)
-Big Sky S.2 (basically in pre-production today)
-Dark Winds (TV I think, George R.R. Martin involved, I think it'll start up in a month or 2)
-The Cleaning Lady (pilot was finished in Feb., getting picked up, starts pre-production in like a month-ish)

Are all happening right now. I definitely feel like I'm forgetting a few, too. So at this point, shows are definitely willing to take a chance on people who don't suck and have a pulse.

Pretty much. It's common when building on granite type rocks, found near most mountains. It's very easily dealt with, though, homes just have tubes/pipes that divert radon from your ground level to outside. It's quite common to do a radon test with a home inspection, they are like $50. And even then, the particle count would have to be very, very high, over a long time of exposure before elevated cancer risks become truly worrying.

Dunno, since my job can be quite hard to describe outside of the film world in general, and plenty of Crew members don't have a totally concise idea of what I do. I suppose the most silly is "When is X going to release?" X being the film/TV show/etc. in questions. No one who makes these shows, even the Producers, can guarantee exact release dates. I've worked on shows that didn't come out until like 3+ years later.

Who is the meanest actor or actress to work around?
I've heard of rumors of bad ones to work for, but I tend not to take them with a grain of salt, since rumors in the film world can be rampant, and colored on a per-case basis. How much I can come into a contact with a Cast can vary a lot, too, so a lot of the times I have to rely on what other Crew members tell me. I'm actually struggling to think of any that were "mean" - Hilary Swank wasn't mean, per se, but she was very difficult for other reasons. Beth Chapman, Dog the Bounty Hunter's wife easily takes the cake, but that depends on if you qualify her as an "actress", and that being a turbo-bitch is basically her gimmick.

'm going to need some citations there, because an oversized sword should be terrible at something like that. Great swords typically required full body rotation, which typically doesn't work well in combat formations (unlike the spear which was basically designed for that).
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zweih%C3%A4nder
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Landsknecht
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Doppels%C3%B6ldner

I have a few books on weapons and warfare, as well as a weapons master friend, but wiki is easier. Basically, the Zweihander itself functions like a polearm and sword cross: long enough to catch and intercept spears and keep them at bay (especially with a cross in the blade), but short enough to offer some defense for those that close the distance. As well as the ability to be swung, which you can't do with a spear.

To wit, warfare with them isn't well understood, and their use was quite isolated. But the generally idea is that the flat of the blades could shove aside a spear/cut the spearhead off, allowing to create a gap in a spear formation and close the ranks. It's basically an anti-spear weapon.
Zeus posted...
However, if it was an effective tactic, it would have been in widespread use. And, realistically speaking, you're not going to be "lopping off heads" with it.
Lopping the heads off of spears, that is.

And not true. There's loads of example of weapons that were effective, but isolated, due to a number of reasons through history. Hell, the katana is considered the perfect sword for virtually all situations, and Europeans didn't both to make their own even after learning about them. The use of the Zweihander largely died off with the rise of gunpowder, which killed off spear formations and most all other type of melee weapon usage aside from calvary.

That was the point: the humungous weight, length, and broad blade allowed them to shove aside spears, and lop off the heads. Those doing so had to be in the front of the formation, so they were paid twice as much (Doppelsoldner).

No it isn't. Police have a lot of latitude is how they are allowed to operate. Qualified immunity only comes into play when they clearly have broken the law or overstepped their bounds. Police not being responsible for damages or injuries caused by raiding a home in a no-knock, for example, is because of qualified immunity. But, if the police *correctly* raid the *correct* house, they wouldn't be liable for damages, anyways, because they did their jobs *correctly*

Qualified immunity is what allows the police to essentially operate like Judge Dredd, and was made up specifically to allow police to get away with racist shit in the Civil Rights unrest of the late 60's. There wasn't rampant suing or inability of the police to function before that.

I thought congress were the ones that decided who we are at war with? If Biden can just stop the conflict in the Middle East without doing more damage, then yes I think he should do that
Technically correct. The Last time the US formally declared war was for WWII. But obviously, a formal declaration isn't nor hasn't been needed in decades, by any country, to do stuff like the Iraq/Afgan invasions. Congress *DID* authorize the initial bombing campaign against Iraq, but it still wasn't a formal war declaration.

Obviously, this itself is problematic for a variety of reasons, but the US would still have troops stationed in the ME, meaning attacks by random militants (which occurred and inspired the US counter-attack) are something that would happen anyways. And it should be noted, the "war" against Iraq was completed and troops withdrawn 10 years ago, in 2011. Iraq also voted in 2020 for all foreign troops to leave the country. It shall be seen under Biden how that goes down.

As for Afghanistan, technically the "war" is still ongoing, but it should be noted that Afghanistan has been a NATO affair the entire time, not just a US one. And for the record, the recent agreement with the Taliban is supposed to drawn down US troop numbers there, so long as the Taliban agree to the terms.

Cool. Zero of that has to do with your tangent on the recent airstrikes in Syria, and why they are inherently bad. And virtually everything of what you posted needs heavy citations (but don't bother at this point, none of that is relevant).

Again, stick to the kiddy pool, you're just flailing and screaming without presenting a coherent thought or argument. This is either bad faith shitposting or a legit mental hinderance. Try and do better.

As for pearl-clutching over civilian casualties, you'll be happy to know that Biden is directly involved in target picking depending on the possibilities of civilian deaths, and called off the 2nd round of strikes due to too many women and children present. Which shouldn't be surprising: Biden is a *devout* Catholic, so the sanctity of life is something he actually acts on.
