I long to return and build in Minecraft, but I've been away for so long I fear it'd be a lot to catch up on.

And while I did a lot of the fun Hunger Games and Zombies servers etc. back in the day, I feel like I just want to build these days.

Especially seemingly having both Demise and Ganondorf, when SS all but explicitly said that they're the same entity. Personally, I'm inclined to just go with "they make up whatever timeline they need to shore up the story they want to tell." The official position was that there was no timeline outside of the direct sequels, right up until they decided they could make money knitting one together to sell Hyrule Historia, so I don't think there's actually any plan to establish and maintain a consistent canon.
IIRC, they said there IS an official canon timeline in file folders, but it's a secret, and did likely come about from fans speculating of a timeline. The breakdown generally makes sense, but I guess it'll depend on the explanation of how Ganondorf is alive again.

Everyone beat me to it, but yeah, storywise you can literally beat the temples in just a few hours from turning the game on, and/or fight Ganon immediately. The story objectives are never a mystery. Everything else, though? Well, that's par for the course of an open world "go explore and have your own fun", which fit in with the theme of a ruined, nature-took-over Hyrule. I myself would like more Zelda-like dungeons and a larger story arc this time around, but BotW was easy to follow.

I haven't met a single person not excited about Tears, let alone bitching about it/calling it DLC. Which is especially odd, considering all of the plot and a huge chunk of the game mechanics and everything is still a mystery, one which I assume a final direct will shine more light on.

Then again, I don't visit the wretched hive that are the system and game boards.

It definitely wasn't, because it really wasn't a well main game. The fun of the bosses and general Dark Souls-gameplay masked how it's 2022 and we still have a AAA without a mini-map (or readable map at all), functioning targeting controls (which I thought stopped being a problem to make after LoZ: OoT showed the world how it was done), stun-locking to death as the main vehicle the game gets called "hard", and etc. upon etc. It's just a really poorly made game.

I just started Xeno 3, and I haven't played Kirby. Jugglinh Xeno, FE: Engage, and MP: Remastered on the Switch alone at current, but ER definitely wasn't GoTY for 2022.

It's a bit misleading, in this case. Technically not incorrect, but it's Day 3 into what will be leading to it's 7th full year, but one wouldn't nomrally describe it that way without an inherently negative slant.

I could totally see this actually. The Switch really is in its twilight years. It's entering its 7th year, the hardware is really starting to show its age, I can totally see a successor being officially announced this year. Now if it would launch this year or next year who knows.
"MP Remastered looks so goegeous, but the Switch is also showing it's age." Wut?

Considering there hasn't even been news of a Switch successor in development (although given the time it takes to develop new consoles, it certainly is), I could see maybe *news* of a successor in the works, maybe even details, around E3 this year. But even that may not happen. I made a topic a couple of weeks back here about how the Switch is (now) 6 years old, which is typically the end of any console's life cycle, but a ton of stuff is being developed for it still. It's close to becoming the best selling console of all time, so Nintendo probably felt self on letting it live longer. Tears of the Kingdom coming out with no new console announcement seems to support that.

It also just hit Year 6, so it's not going into it's 7th year. It came out March 2017.

Hence, at least in theory, democracy does have some natural defence mechanisms against a tyrannical majority - not great ones, but they exist.
The issue with American-style democracy is, of course, it supports the Tyranny of the Minority. This was intentional, so that change would be slow and deliberate, and force the majority to hear the voice of the minority. Not a bad idea in a fantasy world where every citizen is a philosopher-king, but pretty horrible in real-world practice. Now, the minority can paralyze the entire government into a standstill, just because (and often do).

If you're going to have a tyranny either way, at least the majority makes sense. The current system of letting the minority obstruct everything is wholesale bad.

https://tinyurl.com/525yy6pd

In September of last year, after years of careful planning and development, NASA crashed a spacecraft smack into a rock drifting through the Solar System, just minding its own business.
It wasn't for the sheer hatred of space rocks, or the joy of collisions; the motive behind this exercise was to test our ability to knock an asteroid off-course, in the interest of Earth's safety. And now we know we're onto something. The measurements have come in, and the rock's course changed by significantly more than expected.

A series of five papers describing this course deflection, and the mechanisms behind it, have been published in Nature.
Right now, the planet beneath our feet appears to be sailing serenely through empty space. But there happen to be a lot of big space rocks out there, and if one were to hit us, we'd be in for a rough time. Just ask the dinosaurs.
One way we might deflect any large asteroids coming our way is by smashing into approaching rocks with a speeding spacecraft. The transfer of momentum from the spacecraft to the asteroid could alter its trajectory through space just enough to steer it away from its destiny with Earth's surface.

SCIENCE!

Most people do exclude the GBA because they are different consoles/hardware. They include the Gameboy color because, for all intents and purposes, the Gameboy color is just a regular Gameboy with the Super Gameboy enhancements built in. Sure, there are exclusive games for it, but the only difference is the games make use of the color pallet.
True, I figured this is what you meant.
wolfy42 posted...
I'm curious, can people list 10 switch exclusive games (I'll allow games out for the Wii U as well, even though I have one) that they feel are worth getting a switch for, and if so, what is the top 10 on their list?
Off the top of my head, and I'll exclusives BotW and other non-pure exclusives:
-Super Mario Odyssey
-Fire Emblem: Engage
-Fire Emblem: Three Houses
-Bayonetta 3
-Splatoon 3
-Xenoblade 2 & 3
-Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
-Mario & Rabbids 1 & 2
-Metroid Dread
-Luigi's Mansion 3

I left out some obvious ones, like Mario Party, Animal Crossing, etc., for variety sake, but I could easily list 20 myself. There's also stuff like Tetris 99 and Pac-Man 99, which you need a switch for. There's honestly a lot of variety throughout, with exclusive FPS being the big noticable thing lacking (well, "exclusive" FPS games don't really exist anymore).

You mentioned JRPGs, and those are a little lacking, too, but JRPGs have also been dying a slow death for a while now. As stated by others, the Xenoblades should easily scratch that itch, and Fire Emblem games technically count, but they aren't "pure" JRPGs you're likely thinking of. There's also the Octopath Traveler games, Triangle Strategy, and Rune Factory. While ports, ToS Remastered just came out, and they are doing the same for the 2 GCN Baten Kaitos games, fantastic JRPGs that were easy to miss back in the day.

This is a really bad move for Netflix. Audience dissatisfaction with them is at an all-time high, mostly from their habit of canceling shows and rotating out a lot of their library. Giving viewers a reason to drop them, when competition abounds all over, seems ridiculously short-sighted.

And it's something that absolutely must not be encouraged. It's easy to think it's just $3...until it becomes successful, and everyone else copies it. This is definitely a litmus test for streaming at large. Everyone cut the cable, but streaming has just been slowly morphing into that, and worse.

That said, if you have a Firestick and live near the primary account holder, brining it to their house and logging on every 31 days negates this.

It doesn't feel that way. Because of how it snow balls I remember always feeling like I'd have a good game and the other team surrendered at the 15 minute mark resulting in really unsatisfying victories. While my bad games were bad, I'd have a feeder or I'd have the ass clown who keeps crossing the river when you say "I can't see anyone on the other team don't cross the river" and it's obvious we are losing but everyone refuses to surrender and the enemy team is milking it for all it's worth and you're stuck for 30+ minutes in hell before they finally get around to finishing it. I would rage so hard at it.

Maybe my win rate was close to 50/50. I don't remember, but it wasn't evenly distributed. Typically it was 5 or so losses in a row then maybe I get kicked down into a lower bracket and I win a few super easy games before going back into a higher bracket and losing multiple matches in a row there was no chance my team was going to win before I had the opportunity to win again.

The game was really stressful, and it was super toxic. I was super toxic when I played it. I played mobas for like... 10 years. I can't imagine wanting to go back and play it again.
Yep, basically. Towards the end, I just played whatever I would want strictly top (usually Illaoi for the lolz), dominate lane, lane push hard (eventually the entire team is ganking me top), and essentially ignoring what else the rest of the team was doing. Considering whether winning or losing in that game is largely arbitrary outside of professional play, I figured that I might as well get to have fun, rather than worrying about the myth of carrying the team. And the end result W/L was essentially the same (hell, I'm pretty sure it improved, seeing as so many resources would have to be sent top).

If Hollywood wasn't so obsessed with cannibalizing and corpse-fucking every successful franchise of the past, I'd say they'd almost be better off letting the brand name die entirely and just tell similar stories with different characters (I may be one of like 3 people on Earth who would have been absolutely fine if they'd eventually segued to Mutt being the new lead, but I mean more along the lines of how Tomb Raider and Uncharted are basically channeling the spirit of Indy without having to explicitly BE Indy).
This. Hell, we already have proof it works, with stuff like The Mummy and National Treasure being popular, very much in the same genre-type, without straight-up aping IJ entirely (and Tomb Raider and Uncharted and other films, to a lesser extent). We already have proof that we can maker good Indian Jones-esque movies.

But yeah, I'm sure I'll end up seeing this, but I have no desire too. The character of Indiana Jones is young and strong. 80-year old Harrison Ford has roles in many movies (see the upcoming Yellowstone), but old Indy ain't it. Never mind whatever story mess they come up with. It *not* being Lucas makes me have zero hope, since every franchise Disney tries to take over ends horribly.
