Halloween Kills is the only Halloween movie I've seen start-to-finish (I've watched bits of the original), and rarely has one installment so completely deterred me from an entire franchise. I really, really hated it.

I also watched The Invisible Man a few days ago and really enjoyed that one!

I honestly didn't feel like it's a "hit or miss" kind of movie at all.

Even if a viewer doesn't enjoy how the overall narrative opens itself to interpretation... I still absolutely loved the way this movie built tension. Every scene added layer upon layer to the discomfort, and - hats off to the director - it NEVER lost that tension with a flurry of cheap boo scares. It just kept building and building. The effects were great - from the use of lighting and shadows, to the way the "architecture" was presented (trying to avoid spoilers here). The acting was understated and meaningful, especially from the protagonist.

For a film that completely ignored the use of jump scares and gore, I felt it nailed all of the traditional horror elements.

Even if I watch a horror film a day between now and Halloween (I won't), I doubt that Night House will be topped. Loved it.

You guys helped me realize I've seen quite a few 2021 horror flicks already (despite not yet doing any "Halloween season" viewing).

Quiet Place II
Don't Breathe 2
Malignant
Fear Street (x3)
Candyman

The only one I genuinely liked was Fear Street '78. I'll take this topic's general recommendation and check out Night House next - hopefully things will start picking up!

I'm in the red on nearly every speculative stock I've ever bought (I jumped in on both AMC and NOK at the worst possible times and am still holding those), my one foray into cannabis stock has been a year-long exercise of nothing, and I held Lucken Coffee too long and am now barely even on that one.

Overall, I'm still way up because of longterm investments in steady companies, but man, if I had done something like take all my speculative investments and throw it in... any reputable security (even something as unsexy as Walmart), I'd be rolling in it.

But I guess I'm greedy, and without a spouse and kid to support, it's easy to be undisciplined.

Speaking of, how many of the regulars here have kids to support? I think neon and Chris?

I've held ITHUF and Lucken Coffee for about a year. Yeah I feel like a putz sometimes, but I really don't want the emotional rollercoaster of gambling with these stocks every day.

But if you're optimistic toward the longterm growth of Bitcoin, why not directly buy coin itself? I might be missing the forest for the trees, but what actual value does a coin miner provide? Will they be lending coin the same way a bank lends cash? Will they like... pay their shareholders Bitcoin dividends? I don't get it.

Seriously Riot Blockchain is the first and only time I've seen a childhood friend ascend so high up the corporate ladder, and I have no idea how he did it apart from being a rich guy from a rich family. He's a pretty smart dude, but he was also a pro poker player until like three years ago. Now he's the CEO of a NASDAQ listed corporation. I'm uhh... not sure if I'd trust their strategic vision, whatever it is.

So yeah, holiday 2022 is a best case scenario for BotW2. Aonuma said they were hoping to deliver new INFO this year. Covid probably delayed all of Nintendo's major game development by a solid year. =/

Also disappointed in the SS showcase, as they didn't mention any additions/tweaks to the game aside from the control scheme (which is less a feature than it is a necessity). SS is a game which could use a lot of modernization and pacing improvements, so it'll suck if we get the exact same game with an HD paint job.

Funny, I just bought this

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B017613C3C/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I'll be using it this weekend to help grill a fat tomahawk steak for vday, which will also be the first time I've ever tried grilling a hunk of meat that big. I'm a novice at best, but if this thermometer is accurate, I should be able to prep a decent steak since the risk of overcooking is 90% of the battle.

Just wanna say that I've been grappling with a constant feeling of financial failure for quite a while (I've only been working part-time the last couple years while I figure out what I want to do with the remainder of my work life), but I took a step back, did a quick recalculation of my financial position, and realized I have a net worth of around 175k.

And about half of it is in my condo's equity. Buying a home as early as I was financially able to may have been the best decision I've ever made.

Current - Online through a dating app but I wasn't necessarily looking, just stumbled into it. I had been separated from with my ex-wife for like 7 months (there was zero no hope of reconciliation). I hopped on Tinder for literally 1 weekend when I felt shitty. Ended up talking to one person but decided Tinder wasn't for me almost immediately so just sent her my number, told her I was deleting the app but didn't actually expect her to contact me. Took a few months for us to get together given my situation but we kept talking throughout it. It's a little over 4 years later now and we are getting married in April (delayed from December due to COVID). It's the best, healthiest relationship I've ever had.
Wow, reading this made me really happy.

Is there a major American sport where the team can have as much of an impact on an individual's legacy as football?

Switch Brady and Rogers and I think it's Rogers with 7 rings and Brady with 1. And the statistical argument would be completely closed.

Someone should run this in a simulator.
Baseball seems even more team-dependent (has Mike Trout even been to the playoffs?), but then again, no one seems to care about winning when discussing great baseball players, so you may be right.
