I have decided to give up on gold mining. I've gained about 12% on AU, which I first bought in November, but at this point I am thinking crypto is going to eat gold's lunch. Might end up having a Netflix/Blockbuster relationship.

reddit's talking about how ETF's that hold gamestop are massively shorted right now, like the hedgefunds covered GME but replaced it with ETF's holding GME in some kind of neutral move

But the prices for the ETF's don't really seem like they'd be effective at that at all to me

woah beyond meat (BYND) in the premarket

Makes me regret not buying more and selling off one of my shares on Friday. I felt it was overvalued then and still feel that way, and so I have a pending order for when it's back down again.

My AMC investments have finally turned slightly profitable but I'm not sure if I should sell this meme stock or keep riding it. I bought it because of the meme, but I do believe AMC will make a comeback someday so I was throwing more money at it to get my average cost down.

I guess it could be possible with extreme leverage? But not sure what it gains them.

Suppose I have $100 to short GME. I could use it to open a short position in GME of $100. I see there is some ETF that holds 100 stocks, including GME. To gain the same short exposure to GME by shorting that ETF, I would need to short $10,000 worth of it. So I borrow $19,800 so that I now have a total of $19,900. I spend $10,000 shorting the ETF and I spend the other $9,900 buying $100 each in the other 99 stocks in the ETF. I now have a net position equivalent to the original $100 short position in GME, by using 199x leverage.

Now let's say GME goes to the moon and reaches $1,000 (20x). The other 99 stocks stay where they are. That ETF will rise about 20% from this. So a 20% loss on $10,000 is.....$2,000, or 20 times my equity. So I still go bankrupt. I still get margin called long before this. Not sure what I've gained here, other than maybe disguising the short position.

So yeah, this feels like grasping at straws.

Yep. And even if they short sold at the peak of $98 when everything went down, the gain when it stabilized back to $80 is pretty low, and I can't imagine GME is gonna drive the ETF any lower.

I'm going to be investing in MILE. This is Metromile, which does car insurance based on actual miles driven. I was a customer a couple years ago, and regularly overpaid for car insurance because I drove a lot more than I projected. If you don't drive much you can save a lot on car insurance with them.

I wish I had found out they went public earlier, but the market cap is still only at 600 million or so, so I think there's a lot of opportunity here.

Oh, back when GME was in the 3-400s. Hmm. Well, with enough leverage a 20% decline in the ETF can make a lot of money.

*Checks market cap of XRT, the ETF that is 180% shorted*

577 million? Okay, that's not big enough. This ETF has lost less than 150 million dollars off the peak. That just isn't big enough to make much of a difference to the shorts who had a short position in excess of 30 billion dollars in GME at the peak.

However, there may have been a fund or a number of funds who realized this was an easy way to make money and shorted XRT at the peak. It would appear that they made 100 million+ for seeing this. But it's not a big enough vehicle to have done much for the shorts in GME as a whole.

Correction (Google did this again) - looks like Metromile's market cap is around 2.5 billion, not 600 million. Google did this with LAZR also - didn't correctly calculate the market cap for a while after the SPAC merger went through resulting in the company appearing to be way cheaper than it was.

I think 2.5 billion is still a great bargain though, so I'm still buying.

Blur, what stock might get me 20% gains in any given day soon?

DNN is the most duh play ever here. Go go uranium stocks! It likes to move 20% AH for no discernible reason. I should probably start selling those runs and buying back in, but it would ruin my nice average.

Also FPVD, which is the first penny stock I've EVER considered going long on, is riskier but very interesting. Had a 60% day yesterday and was one of the reasons for my 14k day yesterday. I secured some profits but am holding more. So here's a brief summary:

They did a reverse merger with this company called SRAX recently who founded an app service called BIGToken. It's a data service that allows the users to sell their OWN data. I could see that becoming a movement after all the various social media backlash and the Robinhood backlash, since they do the same thing. No real company on the market like that and their app already has 15+ million downloads. SRAX now owns 95% of the FPVD shares. E: That said, the 8-K came out today and there are 150+ BILLION shares, but yeah SRAX owns almost all of them. If I did the math correct, there are 7 billion outstanding that are what investors would be trading. That's...still too much and a far cry from the 850 million listed on Ameritrade.

But for the good stuff: Howard Lindzon, founder of Stocktwits is an investor, and Cathie Wood (!!) is a friend of the CEO. (If Wood were to talk about this company in the future, well this stock could be a millionaire maker.) I wouldn't think of it as anything more than a lottery ticket, but I pent hours this weekend looking into it, and I've never seen a clearer bull thesis in a penny stock before that actually makes sense.

Nothing is impossible - ENZC had 5000% gains over 4 months and small caps in general seem to all be flying. I think WSB just brought a bunch of new retail who don't really care about fundamentals or market cap and just buy anything cheap. Might as well take advantage of their stupidity while it lasts, and this company seems worthwhile to boot. We'll see how I play it. If I can secure like 10k profits on it, I'm totally cool going long with that 10k.

Chart also looks bullish if you were to get in today. After a rough red day today, I predict it turns around tomorrow or at least on Monday next week if it doesn't by then.

For more DD, check this and all the sources listed. Lots of interesting stuff here.

1188 Shares
40 4/16 $2.5 Calls
60 7/16 $2.5 Calls

Expecting I may actually sell the 4/16s and use the proceeds to exercise the 7/16s when July comes around. But definitely don't think it's too late to get in. You want in before next ER (Mar 4) I think. But I think getting in before EOW would actually be best as I wouldn't be surprised to see the price fly on Monday when the 2/19 calls time out.
