The concept art isn't quite as bad, but still.

XB2's visuals and especially character designs I think are just pretty awful all around (and I know they got some hentai artist to do the Blades, but even the humans all look pretty lame, especially the main dude who is like a shitty Dark Cloud 2 reject) , which is a big reason I just never wanna touch that thing. Even if the story is actually good, with the characters looking like they do I can't get invested.

i played xenoblade 2 in japanese

and for what it is worth, that bunny girl thing is an actual in-game model, but it's totally optional if you ever use her and you also may never encounter her. you might also have issues with pyra and some later party member designs, tho.

but the game itself is so damn good

She's one of the 30-something optional Blade characters that due to RNG shenanigans, the player may not ever actually encounter. But yes she's real and ridiculous. She even has a southern drawl accent.

2 has a great dub. It also has some obvious duff reads left early in the game that are all most people who just tried it briefly hear. But on the while the English voice acting is very strong and shouldnt be written off for that reason.

Also the hentai artist only did some blades! There were a load of guest artists. Nomura did some major ones for instance.

I tried playing XBC2. Couldn't do it. Part of it is me not caring about RPGs anymore, and most of it is the terrible, terrible voice acting. Tried using the Japanese dub, but none of the overworld and in-battle incidental dialogue is subtitled, only the cutscenes.

They are but at the distant ends of the tree, Scottish is Gaelic and Welsh is Brittonic, they are very different despite a shared origin. Its like comparing Portuguese to Romanian. By contrast Scottish and Irish are very similar.
