Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World

The plot has nothing to do with the original ToS, focusing on some edgelord shit where you go to some ruins that are even more ancient than the ones in the first game, and handle a threat that predates anything that came from ToS. The character cameos don't add anything to the experience, it's pure fanservice for fanservice's sake. All but one of the new characters has a new VA, and Lloyd's VA is worse than the original by a country mile.

The only good part of the game is that you can decide that Lloyd fell in love and shacked up with Raine. The plot is trite and edgy, and in any other circumstance it would be a passable side-game or RPG - not great, but passable. The worst part about this game is that it's a needless, shoehorned sequel with a plot and stakes wholly separate from the first game, where the only connections to the first game are pointless filler to sucker people into playing the sequel.

On one hand, game development is easier than ever for anyone to jump into and that's led to a lot of excellent throwback titles like Stardew Valley. These are experiences that are hard to come by as the gaming space keep evolving. I haven't played Descenders, but it looks like Downhill Domination minus the combat aspects - just focusing on racing downhill at incredible speeds.

But the AAA space is lacking, because everything has to be pushing the envelope for realism and immersion. We saw this problem emerge in the 7th gen of consoles with games like GTA4 and 5 - incredible games in their own right, but incredibly resource-intensive. The time frame between game releases is getting further and further away because of this.

Nowadays, you have one open-world game dominating the genre at a time - and that game is Grand Theft Auto. The 7th gen had competitors like Saints Row which kept the selection fresh, as well as a hearty dose of failures. Same with FPS games - the 7th gen had so many third party FPS or third-person shooters to go around. Now you have your big players and that's about it. Modern open world games feel like even crustier Metal Gear Solid 5 clones, like the Ghost Recon games. Far Cry is in the trash. The AAA market is dominated by a handful of big titles by the biggest businesses, and while there are some indie and AA studios filling the gaps along with ports, those big game experiences that came out to compete with your CoDs and GTAs are all but gone now. I don't think there'll ever be another GTA competitor for years, if ever, because the barrier for entry (read: budget) keeps getting higher and higher.

That's not even taking microtransactions into account. Modern games tend to be pretty cohesive experiences on their own, but countless amounts of games sabotage themselves and sell you the cure to their dysfunction. Those games are going to be all but unplayable in another 30 years, and it's not slowing down. This started with the 7th generation, but it's only been getting worse over time.

I appreciate the rise in quality, from indie titles as well as AAA titles, but the road games have been on since the 2010's is not a good one.

Original Wiggles member Greg Page collapsed and went into cardiac arrest at a bushfire relief concert in Sydney on Friday night.

The original Yellow Wiggle was taken to Westmead hospital after falling to the ground as he left the stage at Castle Hill RSL. He is now recovering following surgery for a coronary occlusion.

Paramedics said Page, 48, was alive because of the actions of an off-duty nurse who was attending the concert and jumped on stage to assist, using the RSLs defibrillator and leading resuscitation efforts.

He was out for 20 minutes, the woman, named Grace, told reporters on Saturday. We gave him three shocks [with the defibrillator]. I took charge. I did not mean to, but I did. I walked in and I think I was the only one there who had any training, first aid training. So I just started to do what I do at work.

A paramedic from Ambulance New South Wales who responded to the triple-0 call said Grace saved Pages life.

When I was on stage and Greg was stabilised I asked who the person who used the defibrillator was, and Grace anxiously stepped forward, he said. I told she needed to be congratulated because she had saved the mans life. She did an extraordinary job and it was only through her efforts, and those who also performed CPR, that Greg is alive.

The groups manager, Paul Field, said Page was expected to be in hospital for some time.

He was in such a serious way last night, he told Channel Seven. He needed CPR, we had two of our cast and crew working on him. They used a defibrillator on him three times. He was in a bad way.

The ambulance took him [to Westmead hospital]. I was so relieved that the blood was back in his face, he was talking, he was quite groggy. It was overwhelming relief.

Field said the performer had stopped breathing and had to be revived several times.

Steve, the drummer, and Kim, who works in our office, did CPR, they saved his life, he said. Ive got to tell you, if theres a lesson from that its great to have people learn CPR.

The Wiggles official Twitter account said early on Saturday: As has been reported, our friend Greg Page suffered a cardiac arrest at the end of the bushfire relief performance and was taken to hospital.

He has had a procedure and is now recovering in hospital. We appreciate your kind messages and concern.

The original Wiggles line-up of Page and Anthony Field, Murray Cook and Jeff Fatt were performing the first of two planned fundraisers for the bushfire relief effort.

Page left the childrens band in 2006 due to poor health and returned for a second stint in 2012.

In 2006 he revealed he was suffering from orthostatic intolerance, which caused problems with the function of his heart when standing.

Scary stuff. This is the second time the original line up has got together for a run of 18+ pub shows.

I would say I listen to more male performers, though there have been a few times when most of those guys are outside of my regular rotation and I'm listening to more women.

Right now I'm invested in David Bowie, The Weakerthans and King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard on the guy's side, and Rachael Yamagata, Maria Mena and Sara Bareilles on the girl's side. So it's all pretty even-keel right now.

Sometimes, the other argument is just petty trolling that's barely a level above your post, but it was your response in this circumstance that just made me wonder why people stoop to these stupid, petty forum squabbles. He's talked about the circumstances surrounding his departure from high school before, basically being screwed around in his senior year because he moved to a new location and getting put into the worst schooling zone possible. Dude just got his GED, sold some animations to MTV and managed to eke out a living with his cartoons.

I don't like modern Game Grumps either. I don't mind their live action channel, but I'll admit that the flagship show hasn't attracted my interest in a while. Saying that, I think Arin is a pretty savvy guy for all the stuff he's done behind the scenes.

He employs other YouTubers to let them do their own thing, and the Game Grumps brand develops video games too. A few years ago when every YouTuber and their dog was going on tour, Arin had a bad experience with a touring company who didn't understand what the Game Grumps were doing - so he started his own touring company for other YouTubers, where their particular niche would be understood.

He's keeping dozens of people employed, in an office in San Fransisco that probably costs a mint to rent - especially with how nice it looks. Ross, SuperMega, the Dream Daddy devs, dozens of assistants and camera hands, Suzy - Arin's built a small empire keeping himself and other YouTubers afloat. The Game Grumps show isn't as good as it used to be, but Arin has consistently shown himself to be a good businessman and I genuinely believe he works hard to keep everything in balance.

I mean, Cr1tikal is getting enough attention to stream consistently, has his podcast to keep busy with and he has a girlfriend who seems to like him for who he is. I don't like a lot of his current content, but I'm happy that he's doing well for himself. Like someone else said earlier, during the "prime" of his content he was apparently depressed as shit. He seems to be out of that hole now.

I love South Park. I loved Stick of Truth, it's a great game. The worlds that they make in these new South Park games is great fun.

But you should absolutely get Yakuza 0. Fractured But Whole sucks compared to Stick of Truth, and Yakuza is its own brand of crazy buttfuckery. Even the worst mainline Yakuza game is a stellar beat em up with excellent oddball humor. Yakuza 0 is frequently cited as being one of the best Yakuza games.

I had trouble stomaching Saints Row The Third when I first started playing it, but I eventually got the platinum trophy for it. I grew to love the game's setpieces, mechanics and characterisation. But Saints Row IV has always been a turd to me.

Like, they just double down on the goofy, irreverent humor again and again, until it's not funny any more. Oh look, a Dubstep gun. Oh look, you're making fun of Mass Effect. Oh look, the game's skybox looks like shit because it's an alien simulation. The aliens look shitty, Zinyak is a piece of shit antagonist and every mission leans so hard into the conceit that it's hard to enjoy it. It's the third game ramped up to 11, and frankly I hate it.

The worst part is when the Earth is destroyed. All the other characters from Saints Row are just dead now. But it's okay, because we have the simulations to play the part! And at least there's the Steelport simulation to play around in! Eat shit.

I hate the simulation. I hate the red fucking towers you have to remove from Zinyak's control, and I hate the butt ugly martians you have to kill. I hate how the game jumps the shark so hard it feels like it can just make fun of the shark-jumping, because that's all Saints Row is now - a bunch of superpowers, aliens and Dubstep. It's almost cynical how much they ramp every single aspect up in this game.

And the worst part is that I want to have a good time, since the gameplay is based on The Third's gameplay and I really like that game. But there's something so unbearable and ugly about this game that I can't get past. Dedicating so much energy to disliking a game like this is ridiculous, but it genuinely puts a pit in my stomach having to deal with the shitshow that this game is. I get that it's popular and people like it, but I can't bring myself to like it.

I felt similarly about Borderlands 2 for a while, but that's because the starting area in the snow sucks and I could only ever play it at my friend's place. I didn't start liking that game until I got my own copy and got to take on the game at my own pace. I can't say the same for Saints Row IV. I've owned it for years now, I've tried to play it multiple times - to the point that I've gotten the superpowers and the spaceship and saved a bunch of my crew - and I can't fucking stomach the humor or the villains. Saints Row can be stupid at times, but this is beyond stupid. It's forced, lame bullshit.

He's been grinding Kingdom Hearts to make Ultima Weapon, so yesterday when I was blasted on celebratory drinks I downloaded Life Is Strange on his Xbone and started playing it.

Dude's a big fan of like Riverdale and 13 Reasons Why, and it's been giving him similar vibes. It's a good game for the situation, since there's a lot of spoken dialogue that he can listen to while he's playing KH.

I finished Episode 3 tonight. Had to finish up Episode 2 as well - Kate died in this playthrough, which isn't how I was hoping things would go. I'm about to hit my favorite part of the game, I was grinning ear to ear when episode 3 ended. My friend guessed how it ended, but still. Really looking forward to playing Episode 4 again, especially the first part of it.
