I was just thinking about how I'm not really allergic to any foods. I just got satay chicken from a Chinese place for lunch and forgot to ask if anyone in the office was allergic to peanuts - which led to allergies. I have some sensitivity to cats, though I'll gladly brave some itching for a chance to pet a cat, and my parents have food allergies (my mum basically spins a roulette wheel every time she eats prawns, 99% of the time is fine but there have been three prawns that have made her face swell up and restrict her breathing, and my dad is deadly allergic to the fuzz on the outside of a kiwi fruit). But for the most part, I don't have food allergies.

But every now and again I'll grab myself a grapefruit - it's very bitter, but it's delicious and juicy and it feels cleansing. The only caveat is that my mouth starts to tingle and it feels like my lips swell up. Not by a lot, if I was in serious pain or having trouble breathing I would be a lot more worried. But it's just a bit of a swollen feeling and some tingling.

One reason I haven't put 2 and 2 together is because grapefruit is a citrus fruit. I love oranges, but if I eat one that's too acidic or if my mouth is dry when I eat one or two of them, the corners of my mouth burn with citric acid. No issue with lemon or lime, I'll eat that shit in wedges if I can, but there's a similar burning sensation if I get too much acid on a cracked lip or at the corner of my mouth. Grapefruit has some chemical shit that messes with medications, and I feel like they're just bursting with citric acid compared to the rest, so I figured that this tingling and swelling feeling stems from an abundance of that or something. But now I'm not sure.

When you eat a grapefruit, do you get a tingly feeling in your lips, and/or a slight swelling sensation? Or is it just me?

What happens there?
Bart fumbles a game-winning catch in the little league finals, and the entire town starts harassing him.

There have been plots where the whole town turns against Bart, even as far back as season one. What makes this one stick out is that everyone in Springfield - every child, as well as every adult - starts dropping the heaviest shit on Bart. People drive up in their cars and insult Bart to his face, his fumble is torn apart in the news and everybody at school is pissed off that Bart missed the catch. It gets to the point that Bart has a nervous breakdown about the fumble and gets admitted to hospital, and then he climbs out onto a perch in an attempt to kill himself. Moe says something like "do a flip", and Bart jumps. Obviously he survives, but that's still super fucked up.

Marge rightfully flips her shit at the entire town for driving a 10 year old boy to suicide, and out of guilt they decide to stage a rematch so that Bart can make his catch. They set up the same scenario for about 12 hours until Bart makes his catch.

Weak ending, but it's the bulk of the episode and the suicide attempt that really puts a sour taste in my mouth.

She said it's the reason I turned into the man I am because as a teen in the early 2000's this site and all you people started frustrating me.

I can see this being the case, and I can understand and respect the stance on display here. For all intents and purposes a place like CE can foster an aggressive, defensive attitude, especially when you're exposed to a hostile environment like this from a young age.

But - as a relative noob, who started posting in 2015 - is the hardcore guilt-tripping really necessary?

Especially one user in particular, who due to my lawyer's advice I will not mention HER name in my topic.

Like unless there's heavier history here than I realise, is the salty jab really necessary? And:

She also said my sex life would be a lot better without CE also. Apparently you people are holding me back on purpose because you are jealous of me.

There's no way a rational person would characterise a mass of 100+ digital strangers as co-ordinating an effort to intentionally stunt your emotional growth out of a petty sense of jealousy. Not that many people on CE care about you to that degree.

Unless you're referring to a specific subset of people on CE and not randos like me - which, even then, is a pretty extreme comment for a therapist to be making. In my experience, therapists work with you to work out the source of your dysfunction and help you through heavy baggage like that. They don't feed you loaded lines like "all those internet people you don't like are just jealous of you, they only ever wanted to hold you back".

That shit's on the same level as your mom consoling you after being bullied by saying you're going to be a big computer programmer when you grow up and you'll leave your bullies behind to their mediocre lives. It sounds like a band-aid that lets you foist blame onto everything else and ignore whatever you don't want to confront, rather than a dose of anti-septic cream that's used to examine and clean the wound before patching it up and hoping for the best.

Like, I don't even know you. I wish you the best in life going forward, on a basic human level - but can you really dismiss a post like this as a stubborn hater who's trying to hold you back out of jealousy? If you're actually seeing a therapist and she's actually addressed this board as a place full of people who are jealous of you, then I think that's bad advice dude. It's a band-aid, it doesn't clean the wound. If it's you blowing her wording out of proportion, however, that would be a whole different story. It would explain some things.

Regardless, go and have a good life. The best way to dunk on the haters is to live well, after all. If CE has been such a toxic influence on your life to this point, then I respect your decision to leave and I genuinely wish you the best going forward.

Ehh, I still think it was an inconsistency that came from two different writers with two different visions of the show. I would have preferred parity between the two personalities, but it's understandable as to why this would be the case.

Part of what made Spyfall part 2 less good than part 1 is the unnecessary, miserable memory wipes. It's only made more jarring with the Nikola Tesla episode. It's understandable, but the inconsistency is palpable.

-Rankings, Best to Worst-

1. Clara
2. Rory
3. Amy
4. Donna
5. Bill
6. Nordol(?)
7. Martha
8. Rose

Im not ranking the guest companions like Jack, Mickey, and River.
My ranking would be:

1: Donna
2: Rose
3: Series 7 Clara
4: Martha
5: Amy
6: Bill
7: Nardole
8: Rory
9: Series 8 and 9 Clara

The fam hasn't had a lot of meat as individual characters, but as a unit I rather like them. I think Yasmin has potential to be a great companion when she has something to do, Ryan works well as a grounding force as well as a pragmatic "picks up gun" companion, and Graham had more of a personal arc and generally gets the better comedic lines of the bunch.

I think ratings dropped because Capaldi was given garbage material to work with. His Doctor's arc was basically finding his place after three seasons of inconsistency.

I was looking forward to his seasons, and his debut episode was great. But god, that entire run had characterisation problems.

it's not been very good since it went woke anyway
Doctor Who went woke in 2005. Interracial relationships, while maybe not as freaky as prior generations thought, still had their backlash - and I would imagine that a pansexual character like Captain Jack Harkness would have inspired its own sort of pearl-clutching.

Series 11 wasn't too flash. Personally I liked it over most of the Capaldi seasons - don't mind Capaldi, but the material was rubbish - but that season didn't have any crutches to fall back on. I understand why people weren't too hot on it, though I rather liked episodes like the Tsuranga Conundrum despite the backlash - so it's a throwaway monster of the week story, I rather enjoyed it.

My biggest argument against "woke Dr. Who is ruining the show" is Demons of the Punjab. Much like Rosa, it was a historical episode that explored prejudice - but it was particularly eye-opening in its subject matter (I didn't know that India and Pakistan used to be the same country, and the character wasn't a generic space racist) and it features much richer characterisation than most other episodes. The TARDIS team went back in time to the Partition of India to meet Yaz's grandmother, it featured a strong story about radicalisation, and it was a highly character driven and emotionally-focused episode in a series where the other characters were rather underwritten. Demons of the Punjab would be one of the wokest episodes of the series, and it was one of the best.

Also - series 12 got off on the wrong foot with Orphan 55, but every episode before and after that absolute turd has been fan-fucking-tastic.

Also, even though it's a bunch of meme shit, I'll respond to the goatthief alt comments. I have one account from 2012 that I actually used for GameFAQs stuff - rating video games, making reviews, asking for help on the appropriate game boards etc. I was 17 at the time, and eventually the username became outdated - I didn't like it any more, so I stopped using the account. I've logged into it maybe 5 times since 2018, and I've never posted on CE with it. I was considering giving it to a friend if he wanted to get in on this bullshit, but it wasn't his thing.

This account is the only one I use, and it's the only one I intend to use. I have no idea why people come back and shitpost on alts - if I got moderated, or if enough commenters regarded me as a nuisance who should close my account, I would take the L and leave CE. I went through an alt phase when I was using chatrooms as a teenager, MrMallard actually stems from a guest username I used when I was evading a ban once.

If people reject MrMallard, I'm not going to try and bamboozle them with a new name and try to get them to like me again. I'm not going to stick around like a wet fart and try and make people feel like shit. Why would I stick around a place where most users hate me?
