I get pissed off every time I hear about this thing. Its not going to sell well so the Earthworm Jim franchise is gonna go right back in the dumpster. Imagine if they put it on the normal consoles. It would do so well.
I hear you - after seeing an Earthworm Jim topic on CE about an hour ago, I went on an Earthworm Jim kick. They took the HD port off of digital market places and everything, that sucks. And now the new one is being developed for the Neo Ouya? I get the frustration. Especially over those controllers - goddamn.

I think it's a worthwhile endeavour to keep an eye on this console, though. Chances are it's gonna flop, but if it's a decent console, it might be worth supporting when it comes out. If this thing is a dark horse success, it will need all the help it can get.

It's launching with remakes of that missile shooting game (Missile Command?), Breakout, some old run and gun game in a maze, something that looks like ECCO the Dolphin - and a brand new Earthworm Jim game made by Doug TenNapel and the original team behind the first two games!

The games are going to be sold for $3 to $8 a piece, and they're focusing on a simple, family friendly reputation. The controller looks bonkers, but there's gonna be an app for phones that lets you connect like that. The console itself is projected to cost. O more than $150.

This could be a Ouya or Stadia sized disaster, but I actually want it to succeed. Earthworm Jim alone is a big draw, but the new Breakout looks like a solid time as well.

Dude is head and shoulders above dudes like LowTierGod and DarkSydePhil in the personality department. His channel makes the fighting game scene accessible, he's not a salty bitch-lord every time he loses, and he has different series that are fun to watch as well as his fight videos.

Max comes across as a super open, fun dude, and I like coming back to his videos from time to time because his channel is just a lot of fun. Dude covers everything - Tekken, Guilty Gear, Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, Injustice, Killer Instinct (all the way back to the OG games, before he was hired to make trailers for KI 2013), even Power Rangers: Battle For The Grid. His enthusiasm makes things more fun, instead of inspiring him to engage in toxic behavior.

If I had to meet a prominent figure in the fighting game community - as in, if I had a gun to my head and had to choose a person to hang out with to save my life, because by God the FGC has some crust to it - it'd probably be Maximillian.

That corny shit works well in Endgame because it's all superhero shit, and even the best titles in the genre are a bit silly. The Star Wars line has to stack up against 40+ years of a beloved media franchise which some people take more seriously than the Bible. There's no way TRoS's line is gonna hold up within its franchise in the same way that Endgame's line is gonna hold up in its franchise.

man, I remember episodes I like of the Simpsons all the way through the 2000's. It did clearly jump the shark at one point, but the jokes are still solid enough to land.

Like damn, people seem to fucking hate season 9 and 10 of The Simpsons, but episodes like the Mel Gibson episode are classic in their own right for how goofy and stupid they are. The dog being the mastermind of Mr. Smith Goes to Washington is a classic joke. I get that they aren't as soulful as seasons 2-5 or whatever, there's definitely a lot more heart in episodes like Bart the Lover than a lot of future episodes, but the transformation of the Simpsons still have way to hundreds of amazing, nostalgic jokes.

It might be a cultural thing though. I think the Simpsons is regarded a lot more positively as a whole in Australia than in America.

MrMallard

Looking at anything relating to the Satanic Temple shows that they're pretty chill overall. The principles of Satanism seem to be pretty progressive, focusing on egalitarianism and social justice, and they advocate for separation of church and state despite being considered a religious entity themselves.

Meanwhile, some of the loudest and most controversial criminals in our society are self-righteous fundies who justify yelling racial slurs or otherwise harassing other people due to those people being affected by "Satanic influence". There's that recent video of a woman yelling "motherfucker" at people who she's trying to "help" in the check out at Target, and a while back there was a meth-addled woman who believed her children were being exposed to Satanic influences, so she worked with QAnon conspirators to kidnap them from their father. People who rant and rave about Satanism and Satanic influence are complete and utter lunatics themselves, so far from God's grace that they don't realise how awful their actions are.

Then you have Christianity, which has a habit of sheltering and hiding evidence of pedophilic activity on behalf of their priests. Christian and Catholic churches almost seem to create pedophiles by banning them from procreation, so the sick fucks find a defenseless target to take it out on. If they're lucky, the Pope gives them a paid vacation in the Maldives or Africa, where they either get off scot free or continue to offend.

When was the last time you heard of a Satanic priest molesting children? Probably in the same place those whacked out fundies read about Satanic influence in the US, come to think of it - so basically just nonsensical ranting about the Devil. But you almost never see Satanists in the news, which is funny considering the horror of their actions that have been depicted in TV and film for decades. The last time they were in the news was when they were suing Sabrina the Teenage Witch for using a depiction of Baphomet that was copyrighted by the church.

Satanists don't seem too bad in the 21st century, am I right?

D, democrats are definitely worthy of criticism. Remember what the DNC did to Bernie in 2016, and you have a lot of archaic old democrats who are assholes but who still get the DNC vote despite younger generations gravitating towards more progressive candidates. The only way a Hillary Clinton or Joe Biden can have their way nowadays is by trying to ignore the voice of the 18 - 30 demographic, which continues to grow - but by God, do they try to ignore those voices.

Saying that, if you're criticising democrats in the same breath as republicans, I think there's a lot more to criticise with the republicans. Not a fan of "hurr durr both sides" when the left at least has a smattering of unique figureheads while the right slides into authoritarianism, and when just about every democrat gaffe can be matched by some Mississippi senator changing the voting zones in their jurisdiction to try and make it harder for black and disabled voters. Democrats aren't above criticism, but very few of them reach the level of "absolute scum" that the bottom of the Republican barrel is caked with.

Can we post individual threads about warnings and the like again?

It's all petty drama, but those threads are really funny and I miss them. Never had a problem with those threads, just with people getting salty about "keeping it in the general" when the occasional thread did pop up.

One good thing about bringing these threads back is that it opens up discussion to the whole board. When it was just the general, you had to wade through tons of irrelevant chit-chat and deal with regular lurkers in the thread. Individual threads have a broader selection of people discussing the moderation, and depending on the calibre of poster being moderated, they can occasionally feel like an event.

Some people would say that it's just antagonistic mudslinging, and there are users who are way too invested in what happens to other users. But it feels so good to clown on someone for saying something blatantly racist or homophobic, or who just went postal on their keyboard for a stupid fucking reason, and who got warned or suspended for it. Like sometimes you have to savor the little victories in life, when some asshole gets mildly inconvenienced on a platform they use regularly. Everyone gets a jostling and has a laugh, and it's fun.

What's the verdict?

Remember when people would jump down your throat for posting "*username* is WARNED" topics instead of using the general? The general always felt kind of lame, like the same people were always posting there and there was clearly an issue when people bucked the trend and made individual topics about moderations.

CE is a disposable message board, you post something stupid and it's wiped off the face of the earth 2 days later. You've got websites which record everything, which only the most hardcore of assholes tend to use - but the whole gimmick of CE is how often it scrubs itself clean. So why not have individual threads about users who have been warned? Just post individual threads that run their course and get deleted instead of maintaining a general thread frequented by the same handful of users. It gets the news to more people, and when it's done, it's done.

Also just wanted to say that this venom dude is super bonkers, like "you don't have a wife like me, error! or a job like me, error! you only stay here because you love having control over people, error!" Like bro, if your life is really that fulfilling, why the fuck do you still have a chip on your shoulder from a VG message board snafu from 6 years ago? Christ. And you closed your account out of protest? What the fuck was that meant to accomplish? No-one followed you, it didn't harm the website's bottom line at all. You removed yourself from the equation.

Seriously, I don't get why so many people are batshit insane about this website. A Blogspot website about "exposing the lies of GameFAQs mods", a Twitter handle dedicated to @ ing Error and a subreddit comprised of a bunch of troll circlejerking have been active over the last few years, all of them stemming from sore feelings in users from a decade ago, or even longer. Some stupid motherfucker even has a reputation for doxxing people on here, he's that obsessed with this website that he'll try to ruin people's lives. Legitimately, what sort of Kool-Aid are some of you guys drinking? How miserable do you have to be to hold internet grudges for this long? It's really, really pathetic.

Yeah, because "genius" is as loaded as the n word is. Excellent deduction.

I'm okay with racist pieces.of shit getting bashed, sure. They know what they're saying is inflammatory, they know there's history behind a word and they say it anyway. It's extraordinarily shitty of them to do, but they want to say whatever they want and get away with it. It's not right, and if they want to be clowns, then they should be prepared to get clobbered for it.

Again, the n word has roots that go back centuries, to when black people were treated like cattle and kept in chains. A white person using that word against a black person is basically saying "black people are little more than slaves to me". You've got clowns who want to use is because they like rap or whatever, and even if it doesn't carry the vocal weight of the word compared to an aggravated use, it's still invoking a terrible term with centuries of hate behind it.

Motherfuckers like Richard Spencer can dress up in a suit and get an interview on live TV about his political views, despite being a neo-Nazi. His point of view was taken seriously, he dressed up all nice and presentable and he got to spread the word on his shitty little cult on the news. Them someone punched the little shitrat in the face, and now he isn't shit. Scum like that are asking to be punched, and they're banking on other races to "be the bigger person" and avoid falling into stereotypes of violence that have been levelled against them along with the words used to degrade them. You address a person by a racial slur, you're asking for a flogging. You know what you're doing, and you shouldn't feel safe demeaning other people like that.

I'm sure you know the weight behind racial slurs, because you're an intelligent man - you just like to troll. So tell me, do you think addressing white people as "Vanilla Ice", "mayonnaise" or "cracker" are comparable to calling a black person the n word? Because even if you argue that they're aggressive terms that target the color of your skin, none of them are actually that bad. It's being nicknamed after a goofy white rapper, or a tasty condiment. Cracker is more loaded, seeing as white people were slave drivers and the term derives from the action of cracking a whip, but that still comes from a position of power, calling white people racist and violent. It addresses the color of your skin in a way no other racial slurs in American history has, and it has some of CE's biggest chuds so upset that they'll successfully get people modded for using them.

But even a term like cracker doesn't match terms like the n word, which was used against black people when they were considered to be property and were worked and killed like dogs. That's what being invoked when the word is being used. You're asking black people to "be the bigger person" when some racist dipshit goes ahead and drops whatever racial slurs they want, because it's "just a word". Fuck that - use a term like that to demean someone, and you can say goodbye to your safety. You don't deserve to have a safe space where you can say what you want with no negative repercussions - say something that shitty to someone, and you deserve to get belted by them.

But no, let the white man say the n word to harass black people, it's more important for them to be the bigger people and avoid violence even when white trash won't leave them alone for their race. Sausage could be anything. I don't mind sausage from time to time, but the fact is that it's all meaty bits that weren't pretty enough to be sold on their own and fat. At least 50% of all meat sausages are usually fat, which is why they leave that awful feeling in your mouth when you eat one cold.

There's good bacon and bad bacon, but you always know what's inside bacon. Bacon's only ingredients? Bacon, and a stripe or two of fat - much less than you'll get in one single sausage. You know exactly what you're getting every single time.

trumps gonna win again isn't he

One of the biggest issues right now is the language used by Democrats and Republicans.

Right now, Republicans feel like they can't lose. Look at all the right wing dipshits on GameFAQs saying "four more years of Trump", trolling about how the Liberals are going to cope when Donald Trump is re-elected. Not "if", "when". They're acting like they've already won, like most of the country slurps his nuts like they do. Right now, they're confident. And that emboldens them and gives them a sense of power.

Democrats are still arguing about the challenger, and this message gives off an aura of hopelessness or resignation. Of course, the Democratic party still has to decide on a leader to challenge Donald Trump, and that's proving to be a difficult task with all the different financial backers and such. But that can't be an excuse for defeatism.

Right now Biden is throwing as much shit at the wall to see what sticks, including slagging off Bernie Sanders. Hillary Clinton, the woman who benefitted from biased media coverage and what might as well have been a fix on behalf of the DNC, is slagging off Bernie Sanders. She's not running, but she's using her clout to go against Sanders, who's been a big hit with moderates and progressives alike - unlike her appeal with diehard Democrats and moderates who didn't want to see Trump in the White House.

But as a voter, you can't let that shit get to you. Joe Biden keeps fucking up and looking like a creepy old man. Hillary Clinton is the Democrat who lost the White House to Donald fucking Trump - who the fuck cares what she thinks? Right now, Bernie has a solid base - at least, he has a more solid base than he did in 2016 where literally everything was trying to fuck him over. As a supporter, it's important to support and uplift that base, especially in the face of an opponent who are already acting like it's a sure thing.

Republicans are already celebrating another four years of Trump. During this crucial phase of the democratic process, it's important to consolidate support for your candidate and go to bat for them. I'm gonna be pissed if Bernie gets swept under the rug again, but this fight isn't over and "oh no, Trump's gonna win again" is a statement that only further emboldens his fanbase. It strengthens their rhetoric, and that only serves to further fuel any hopelessness you might be feeling about the 2020 elections. That mood also rubs off on the people around you, which makes the problem worse.

The more that people lose faith, the better of a chance it will be that Donald Trump will be re-elected. The language used to discuss political candidates doesn't seem important, but a strong campaign is built on the back of a strong supporter base. Republicans and alt-right shitheads are using a united front of "another four years of Trump" to trigger the libs - excuse the phrasing. It's important not to give in to that, because that only grants their platform more power.

meaning that it was bland, featureless and lacking in any positive quality. A person or thing so devoid of notability that its only remarkable feature is its lack of remarkable features. Y'know, like drinking a glass of milk while eating a single slice of dry toast.

I looked up the etymology, and it seems like it comes from a cartoon character named Caspar Milquetoast. And he got his name from...

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Milk_toast

A comfort food named milk toast!

I thought the term was spelled like "milquetost", and I thought it was like some stupid fucking British or French term that's all uppity and snooty despite sounding like something lowbrow and disgusting. But no, the word is derived from a dish named milk toast, and its use and meaning derives from a cartoon character who's predominantly soft-spoken, meek and feeble. And it's an American term, too. That's neat.

I'm glad it isn't just some shitty coincidence, and is actually derived from those two words. Kinda funny to think that a term with something of a high class bent to it is derived from a forgotten comic character from the 20's and 30's.

I see more in common with UnfairRepresent, DifferentialEquation and Damn_Underscore, personally.

TheRealDill, to me, is definitely his own beast. Questionmarktarius always seems to fly under the radar for me, maybe some goodwill from ages ago when he wasn't a political shitposter? I dunno. UnfairRepresent I have on ignore, so I haven't seen him in months. Maybe he's gotten worse, and his personality differs enough from the other two I mentioned to say that I was wrong in lumping them all together.

He says "this was always my vision!", but it's literally a play by play of seasons 6 to 8 with little to no nuance added to it. The gratuitous bard cameo is there, so is Tyrion's character degradation. The bad Daenarys stuff is still there, as is the on-the-nose scene at the end with the Iron Throne and Tyrion talking about stories and babies. Not a single thing is changed, it's just a little bit flowerier.

I mean, MLK is dead so anyone can just claim that he would've said this or that and he's not there to say otherwise.

Martin Luther King Jr. would have endorsed my homebrew beer if he was still alive!
