Oasis blew themselves out of the water and stranded themselves with a bomb of an album, Blur kept creating into the late 90's with weirder and weirder stuff until the band broke up and Albarn went solo. The bad blood in Oasis hasn't healed, while Blur have put out a reunion album in the 2010's.

Oasis had meteoric success with What's The Story, Morning Glory?, but I feel like they didn't make a dent after that. They blew up and then died. Blur had massive success with Parklife, and they kept making successful albums for years afterwards. Song 2, while taken at face value when it seems like an intentionally shallow, sloppy take on modern rock, was one of their biggest successes on one of their later albums.

Oasis won the battle, but Blur won the war.

Yeah Trump is significantly worse. He was a horrible person even before he became President.

Morrison is overall a typical spineless and corrupt conservative politician who skates by appealing to being 'fiscally responsible' and to Christian fundamentalists. He isn't anything special at all. He'd be a dime a dozen in America.
I mean, he's no Malcolm Turnbull. Not a fan of the Liberal party whatsoever, but I could respect that Malcolm Turnbull could keep his head down and get shit done without the petty Liberal shit-flinging of Abbott and Morrison. Even if the Liberal policies sucked, I think Turnbull could lead Australia in a time of crisis, and people would respect him more because he actually acts like someone worth respecting.

Scott Morrison is a shade removed from Peter Dutton, but he's absolutely around the bottom of the Liberal barrel. In the history books of the Liberal party, Morrison will go down as scum - right next to Tony Abbott. I don't have any love in my heart for this prick - the Liberal party needs to split from the Nationals and put someone forward who's, at the very least, disciplined and well-meaning. They had that in Turnbull, and they threw it away.

Morrison isn't as much of an oaf as Donald Trump, but he's undoubtedly one of Australia's worst prime ministers.

Scott Morrison is a balding, squat, evangelical little prick, and he's had blunder after blunder during these bushfires. He went down to fire-stricken areas for a photo op, just grabbing people's hands and giving them a pat on the back while they beg him for help or tell him he's not welcome there. He doesn't listen to anything, he just blunders around and has his cronies deal with the rabble when they inevitably turn against him.

But are you really going to say that the leader of the free world, the man who's spent at least 112 days on the job playing golf and who's currently targeting 52 important cultural areas in Iran after assassinating one of their generals is a better man than the blithering buffoon Australia has? I hate ScoMo, he's the worst PM since Tony Abbott and Tony Abbott is scum. But frankly, he isn't as much of a fuck-up as Donald Trump. Very few leaders are as big of a fuck-up as Donald Trump.

The kindest praise I can give right now is that Australia would objectively be a worse place if a sack of shit like Trump was in charge. We had an entrepreneur run last year, that fatcat prick Clive Palmer, but thankfully he got shot down. Scott Morrison fucking sucks, Australia is already worse off for electing him as our leader - but by fuck, he's slightly better scum than the drain slime you guys have, sending you into war with Iran. When Scott Morrison deliberately fucks with another nation to trigger an armed conflict, I'll let you know. Until then - at a bare fucking minimum compared to Donald Trump - Australia is in better hands.

https://www.commondreams.org/news/2020/01/05/alarming-iranian-americans-reportedly-detained-asked-about-political-views-us-border

This is a developing news story, so things are subject to change. This news story so far covers allegations from two organisations that American citizens of Iranian descent have been held in detention for upwards of ten hours. They were detained after seeing a concert in Canada, and in a group of 60 people, an overwhelming majority were American citizens.

Reports that dozens of Iranian-Americans were detained at the U.S.-Canada border on Saturday and questioned about their "political views and allegiances" were met with alarm by lawmakers and rights groups, particularly given the soaring military tensions between Iran and the U.S. brought on by the Trump administration.

On Sunday, the Washington state chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) said it is "assisting more than 60 Iranians and Iranian-Americans of all ages who were detained at length and questioned at the Peace Arch Border Crossing in Blaine, Wash."

Those detained, according to CAIR, were returning from an Iranian pop concert that took place Saturday in Vancouver, Canada.

CAIR, citing an anonymous source from Customs and Border Protection (CBP), alleged that "the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has issued a national order to CBP to 'report' and detain anyone with Iranian heritage entering the country who is deemed potentially suspicious or 'adversarial,' regardless of citizenship status."

"We are working to verify reports of a broad nationwide directive to detain Iranian-Americans at ports of entry so that we can provide community members with accurate travel guidance."
- Masih Fouladi, CAIR

An individual CAIR identified as Crystal, a 24-year-old American citizen and medical student, said she was detained and interrogated for more than 10 hours at the Washington-Canada border before her release Sunday morning.

"The vast majority of people being held last night were American citizens," Crystal said. "We kept asking why we were being detained and asked questions that had nothing to do with our reason for traveling and was told 'I'm sorry this is just the wrong time for you guys.'"

Masih Fouladi, executive director of CAIR-WA, said in a statement that the reports of detentions are "extremely troubling and potentially constitute illegal detentions of United States citizens."

"We are working to verify reports of a broad nationwide directive to detain Iranian-Americans at ports of entry so that we can provide community members with accurate travel guidance," said Fouladi. "We will continue to update the community and other civil rights organizations as we obtain more information."

Rep. Pramila Jayapal, a Washington Democrat, tweeted that she is "deeply disturbed" by the reports, which come amid soaring military tensions between the U.S. and Iran following the Trump administration's assassination of Iranian General Qasem Soleimani.

The National Iranian-American Council (NIAC) said it is also "hearing credible reports of detentions at U.S. borders, both of Iranian-Americans and permanent residents."

"We are working to independently verify, coordinating with lawmakers and allies," the group said.

"First they ban us. Then they starve our families via sanctions. Then they threaten our cultural heritage sites with bombs," tweeted NIAC organizing director Donna Farvard. "Now they're detaining us at the border."

He could have avoided this. He could have de-escalated the situation, he could have held off on assassinating a prominent Iranian general. Through his actions, Donald Trump has all but made terrorism against the American people an inevitability, and in extension he may have made war with Iran potentially unavoidable.

Goddamnit, this situation has me talking like Duncanwii. I don't want to be that sort of person harping on about nuclear annihilation and war, but this just puts a pit in my stomach and makes me fear for the rest of this decade.

The inciting incident seems to have been aggression leveled at the US embassy, for which the US assassinated a high ranking Iranian general with a drone strike. Now Donald Trump is talking about bombing 52 locations in response to Iran taking 52 American hostages in the past, which seems unrelated to the current goings-on and hardly seems relevant or fair to what's going on at the moment.

America is escalating this conflict instead of de-escalating. There's no negotiations, no soft words - just America's biggest shit-for-brains saying "yeah, we killed him, and we'll do it again". Your military killed an Iranian general out of nowhere, because Donald Trump said he could do it. This is only going to generate more hate for the US, and rightfully so because they just fucking bombed a general out of nowhere when neither nation is directly at war with each other. If war breaks out, there's no way in hell Donald Trump is coming out of this looking like the good guy.

Shit sucks when people don't give a good show a chance and gloat about it. Reminds me of people who shit on Titans because of Starfire - that show is a goofy, fun time. The Witcher might be worse off because the lashing is coming from professional critics, but I can understand the bafflement that comes from people shafting a show for stupid-ass reasons.

Final Fantasy X-2. With the Macalania temple in decline, Macalania forest is slowly dying. The wildlife who live there, as well as the Guado, are doomed to die along with it. The cause would have to be because the climate is warming up, as Macalania temple housed Shiva and was responsible for making the surrounding area all frosty and cold. Without that familiar cold temperature, the forest can't sustain itself.

TopicI've noticed that SJWs aren't offended to be called an SJW
MrMallard
01/04/20 10:52:41 AM

SJW is such a butthurt label. Like if someone comes up to you and earnestly calls you an SJW, no leftist is really gonna flinch. It's a pointless buzzword that's been thrown around for years, to the point that it's lost any of its power or meaning. Whenever some moron wanted to complain about something they viewed to be left-of-center to their core beliefs, they defaulted straight to SJW - now no-one gives a fuck about the label, because the people who actively use it are some of the most overdramatic bitches on earth.

Honestly, I think "snowflake" is gonna get to that level too. Now that people have stepped away from the SJW label, anyone talking about stuff that's left-of-center from a self-professed conservative's core beliefs is labelled a "snowflake". Snowflake this, snowflake that, Conservative Uncle Randy spent most of Thanksgiving talking about snowflakes like he was talking about last year's white Christmas. It's been an effective go-to for a lot of people because while it sums up the angry backlash to identity politics in its metaphor, it can also be used as a weak, demure term for groups that conservatives don't like. But it's getting old, and the more it features in conservative media, the weaker it's going to get.

Seriously, in 2 year's time, who's going to be upset about being called a snowflake? It'll be run into the ground to the point that its practitioners look absolutely ridiculous going red in the face using such an innocent, childish term. You can't define them by a single, united point, or you're too much of a pussy to say "the left" - it only makes you look stupid by clinging to it like a security blanket.

Meanwhile, there are two groups who have become so upset and offended over their labels that some people consider them to be a slur. You have TERFs, who think that being labelled a Trans Exclusionary Radical Feminist is akin to using homophobic slurs against the gay community, and you have Boomers - pretty much any stuffy old fart with access to the media instantly went on the defensive with that one, decrying the youth's discontent with a wasteful, entitled older class as ageism targeting society's most vulnerable members. Both subsets considered to be conservative in one way or another, both of them absolutely ass-blasted by the monikers ascribed to them by the lefties.

You're going to have hysteric people on both sides of politics, but I think left-leaning people are letting it roll off their back a lot better than they used to. Right-leaning people, however, continue to get ass blasted when the leftists touch a raw nerve. They fall straight into the same traps they accuse SJWs or snowflakes using, and they try to limit the damage to their brand by asserting that their poor treatment is an attack on their human rights. It's really pathetic.

At this point, it's really a "who cares" situation. You want to spend all your time telling off the SJWs, the NPCs and the snowflakes for their predictable leftist drivel? Everyone around you is just gonna associate those terms with the same static, boring group of assholes who use them, and they'll use them to weed out the assholes who use them. You're literally only hurting yourself at that point. And as people have demonstrated several times, the same sort who decry the left for "identity politics" clutch their pearls and go apeshit whenever a derogatory term for their beliefs begins picking up steam.

The internet shit flinging isn't that different depending on both sides, and I'm sure conservaturds are starting to feel a similar level of apathy and mockery towards "boomer" as leftists feel towards "SJW". No one gives a fuck, because they're just overused words on the internet that attack a broad group, which broadens more and more over time until it's stretched too thin and begins to mar the image of those using the term instead of the group they're trying to sledge.

Yeah, there's been anti-American sentiment in recent days which saw the US Embassy get attacked. That sucks, but is the killing of a prominent general comparable? Is there any reality in which this would de-escalate things?

Apparently, "ending a war" means "blowing up a prominent military figure while relations are fraught, and acting like you're the rational one". Americans.

It's not usually a long shot for people to share the opinion that Nazis are shit and deserve to get fucked up. Stop shitposting.

Name a Western nation which has outright executed its citizens for not going to war right off the bat, instead of sending them to jail for refusing to comply. Your country didn't cap people in WWI, WWII or Vietnam. If they start now, then I think it's pretty official that you live in a dictatorial shitheap.

I'm not going to bleed for any country on earth. Not Australia, not America, not China or Iran. This attack on Iran is fucking bogus (in the "bad vibes" sense, not that it didn't happen), and I fucking refuse to put my life on the line for Donald Trump and Scott Morrison, two of he biggest fuckheads in modern day politics.
