I suspect you know why. It is politics. I have listened to Briahna Joy Grey a lot - she has a podcast for Bernie - and she is the furthest thing from an "idiot" that I know. However, instead of answering the question people pivot. Because that's what people do in this country and people die. The answer why a diabetic can die but someone with coronavirus "can't" is simple: political points. Nothing more.

It's dumb to imply that the reason people die of cancer is because they're poor when you're speaking to someone who had a relative die of cancer that wasn't poor. It's not offensive, it just proves that your own premise is pretty stupid.

My grandfather is poor AF and has had multiple rounds of chemo. Seems to get all the treatment he needs from medicare alone. Lord knows who is paying for it. I'm not, and I'm the only person in my family with any money at all.

In any case, I don't know about "just as likely" but I do know the premise that "poor people die of cancer and rich people don't" is blatantly and obviously untrue. If what you mean to say is something like "poor people have a 70% chance of dying from cancer but rich people have a 55% chance" then say that. But you won't, because it's not very rhetorically powerful now is it?

The premise isn't "Poor people die of cancer, rich people don't." The premise is that poor people are less likely to receive treatment and testing than rich people. Especially for preventable cancers, where there's a notable disparity in death rates.

After all, Covid does not have a 100% mortality rate.

Some people would neglect their health, but others would be able to get the testing and treatment they need. Especially for their kids. People may neglect their own health, but it's fairly rare that they ignore their children's health. And even wealthy people often neglect their health. It should help close the gap, and prevent more deaths. Especially for people who's employers don't want to pay their healthcare, so they give fewer hours so as to be under the requirement.

I actually disagree with this. People will go get treatments if it's free. It will take some time for the culture to change to where going to the doctor isn't seen as a big deal, but eventually it will get there. And then it'll be like it is in other countries where people go to a doctor for extremely minor things.

Even in those countries, 100% or close to 100% of the population have the Medicare equivalent as their primary insurance.

Medicare for All just means extension of Medicare benefits to all citizens. Doesn't mean that private insurers can't exist. They still exist in Kamala's plan but not in Bernie's.
