like the school year already is once you pass spring break, it's a home stretch to the end of the year. asking for something later than that is silly.

for something not silly and likely a sign of things to come for other states:

It's the same as the freezes going on. Like, sure your rent isn't due for 3 months, but then you have a 4 month rent bill the 4th month. Utilities, etc.

It is potentially helpful, but they probably need to suspend it over a longer period. Like suppose nonessential jobs are shut down for 3 months; it would be helpful to say that you need to have nothing paid after month 3, the first 4 months paid after month 6, the first 8 after month 9, and everything paid by month 12.

I just wanna point out that New York City has 8.5 million people in 303 square miles.

This virus is obviously going to spread fast through it.

For reference,

Italy has 60 million people about 7x more population spread over 116,348 square miles.

Their biggest city is Rome at like 2.2 million which is 496 square miles.

So Italy has 7x more population than NYC but in a 385x larger area.

In total, the CDC estimates that up to 42.9 million people got sick during the 2018-2019 flu season, 647,000 people were hospitalized and 61,200 died. Thats fairly on par with a typical season, and well below the CDCs 2017-2018 estimates of 48.8 million illnesses, 959,000 hospitalizations and 79,400 deaths.

That's just America I believe btw.

Those numbers are just for the US, from how they sound. Very little chance that could be a worldwide figure being that low. Also we will never know the actual mortality rate for this virus because of poor and inadequate testing plus the amount of people who probably just aren't getting tested. Anyone with mild symptoms are probably not going to get tested out of fear at this point, not of if they possibly have it but of contracting it by going into a highly condensed area where other people could have it. This is probably especially so for places like Italy, which is probably why their numbers are so out of line with most everyone else. Not to mention the death rate their is probably being skewed by the inundation of their heath care system.

in the latest instance of please don't trust China, Spain learning the lesson the hard way.

https://www.businessinsider.com/coronavirus-spain-says-rapid-tests-sent-from-china-missing-cases-2020-3

Studies on the tests done in Spain found that they had only 30% sensitivity, meaning they correctly identify people with the virus only 30% of the time, sources told the Spanish newspaper El Pas.

Those sources told the newspaper that the tests should have a sensitivity of more than 80%. The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says rapid tests for influenza are required to have 80% sensitivity.

now you have China's defense here:

The tests were made by a Chinese biotechnology company called Bioeasy, El Pas reported. Other countries, including Georgia, have bought the company's tests.

The Chinese Embassy in Spain said on Twitter on Thursday that the medical supplies China was donating to other countries did not include Bioeasy products.

It said that the Chinese Ministry of Commerce gave Spain a list of manufacturers and that Bioeasy was not among them, adding that it had not been given a license from China's National Medical Products Administration to sell its products.

but ultimately this is still the problem:

On Monday, Spain said it received 640,000 rapid testing kits from China and South Korea; it is unclear how many were manufactured by Bioeasy.

Medical professionals in the Czech Republic have also said that rapid tests from China were not working properly, but it was not clear whether these tests were also made by Bioeasy.

they got lucky in that they managed to get a specific shipment and tested its accuracy.
problem is they don't know how much of all of their shipment is bullshit. same for other countries too. you don't know if your rapid test is 70% false.
