We are like 10,000 deaths away from the estimated flu deaths in the 2018 flu season.

500,000 people tested positive so far for corona

Estimated 35.5 million people had the flu in that season.

Are people still just calling this a bad flu?

Those numbers are just for the US, from how they sound. Very little chance that could be a worldwide figure being that low. Also we will never know the actual mortality rate for this virus because of poor and inadequate testing plus the amount of people who probably just aren't getting tested. Anyone with mild symptoms are probably not going to get tested out of fear at this point, not of if they possibly have it but of contracting it by going into a highly condensed area where other people could have it. This is probably especially so for places like Italy, which is probably why their numbers are so out of line with most everyone else. Not to mention the death rate their is probably being skewed by the inundation of their heath care system.
