Still doing some fall cleaning and found my Digimon CCG cards. I can barely remember anything about the rules at this point, other than having attack strength based on the opponent's type.

Also found a YGO card that looks like the card is a rare (because the name has silver lettering) but it's a normal monster with shit attack and defense.

Found a Witch Hunter Robin tape. Loved the show (a lot more than the original FMA, which was also running at the time), but kinda forgot it existed.

Witch hunter robin hits me right in the nostalgia. Staying up too late to watch it at like 12:30 as a kid. It's tone and pacing making me feel like it's super mature even though it's not really compared to cowboy bebop and ghost in the shell that aired before it.

I do miss that kind of show though. The serious action show with mystery in the background. Kinda reminds of texnohlyze and ergo proxy now that I think about it. Now the same show would be way more bright and silly.

FMA also pandered to a younger, less sophisticated audience which I'm sure helped. It was a pretty typical youth shonen series and I mostly remember it -- when I'm not reminded of it elsewhere -- because it had some cool merch I picked up.

I'm quite enjoying it so far. I can understand people being thrown off with the art style, it is different. But for me, the characters are still the same so I can easily overlook the change in art style. I'm only on episode 3 so some of the characters can be different but I doubt it.

The only thing I'm sad about is the OP and ED songs are different.

I'm saving season 3 parts 1 & 2. It's getting another season and it was titled final season, so I'm just holding off. Nice that I keep hearing s3 was good though.

I reached the Trunks/Goku Black arc of Super, and the logic bombs concerning Emperor Pilaf and his crew have become impossible to handwave.

- Do Bulma and crew really not recognize them at all? They caused a lot of trouble in the past, and now they're house guests.

- Are they just going to ignore the fact that they're not really kids? Mai hooking up with Trunks is fucked up, even by anime standards. (It's actually worse than Trunks and Pan in GT.)

- How did the two of them meet in Future Trunks' timeline? That might be answered in the future, but at this point there's no explanation for how they know each other, or why she's young in the future.

Forgot to mention it, but I saw Alita: Battle Angel the other day. It managed to be the first live action movie I've seen based on an anime/manga that was actually good.

Dude, watch the live action Rurouni Kenshin.

I saw Alita in the theaters about a month after it came out.

I liked it, but even having not read the manga or watched the anime, I could tell it was trying to cram a little bit too much into one movie, so it had a few pacing issues imo.

Other than that, it was definitely one of the better live action adaptations I've seen.

It gives me hope that eventually we'll see a live action Akira with bleeding edge cgi to make it even more gruesome.

DBS episode 52 hit hard. Plenty of people hate that Gohan isn't a fighter anymore, but Trunks' first reaction was to be happy for him.

Then after initial discomfort and seeing everything Gohan has and how happy he is, he thinks of everything that's been taken from them in his world and what could have been, I was about to tear up.. and then he did. Oof.

Finally finished Vesperia Definitive the other day.

I missed scanning ONE missable monster and a couple of titles so it definitely wasn't a 100% run. More like 90%.

Oh well, it's pretty much impossible to do a perfect run before NG+ anyways so I'll just have to do it then.

But for now, I'm moving on to Dragon Quest XI!

Ehhh... I know I said I was taking a break from manga, but I somehow found and got into Love Tyrant (which had a really rocky start). Now once I finish what the scanlation is up to, I'll have to check out the anime that I learned after finding the series' wikipedia page (I *think* the anime ends a little past where I am with the manga, but I want to avoid spoilers)

I've been watching a bunch of cooking videos on youtube for some reason and am about to rewatch shokugeki no soma to prepare for season 4. I think it'll be better if I have a few weeks between finishing season 3 and starting season 4 since the show gets pretty repetitive. I also FINALLY get to eat some different food. Doc wants me to eat glutten for my upcoming 2nd endoscopy (with a colonoscopy) to test for celiac's disease. If that turns up nothing its out with my gallbladder.

I actually know how to cook Mapo Tofu served over rice now, and its SUPER tasty and VERY spicy.

Okay, I'm depressed. I just realized if I keep reading Love Tyrant at my current rate, I'll be at the end of its run in under a week. Conversely, I don't like having to stop reading it so I won't run out. And if I do run out, it's almost guaranteed that I'm going to look for something similar to binge.

If you're into wacky rom/coms like Love Tyrant, I HIGHLY recommend Jitsu wa Watashi wa.

It's definitely up there as one of the best rom/coms I've ever read. Plus, it's completed so you have 196+ chapters to binge.

I realize "under a week" was overly optimistic. I finished the remainder in under a day >_<

On the plus side, chapter 52 might have ended in a bit of a cliffhanger but it's not as bad as some of the ongoing major story arcs that some of the other manger I was reading have stopped on.

That's My Monster Secret, right? I'll give it a try, but I'm honestly not looking to get into something new right away. I can't take that much binging in a row and, especially when it comes to manga, binging is the only speed I know.

I did something similar today. Stumbled upon a webtoon comic called mage and demon queen and read all of it and now I have to wait but I don't want to. It's a wonderfully yuri story but still pretty short so far. Was hoping it'd last me a few days.

Anybody here playing or have played Dragon Quest XI?

Looking for tips on how to build the party.

This is my setup so far

Hero - Greatswords
Erik - Dual-wielding Knives but has 2 boomerangs in the inventory for groups
Veronica - Nearly filled in Heavy Wands, working on Vim
Serena - Nearly filled in Wands, working on harpistry
Sylvando - Did the early hustle Dance trick, and filled out some Whips

I just got Jade and Rab, and I wanted some advice on how to build them.

Been watching the Zamasu/Goku Black arc in Super. For the record, I like how they seem to handle power levels for this particular arc; Trunks isn't even Super Saiyan 3 yet he can still hold his own for the most part against enemies much stronger than him. That's how shounen series should handle battles; higher levels shouldn't render lower ones completely obsolete.

The only problem is, this logic goes against everything we've seen throughout the series up until now.

I dislike power levels and its proxies as a general concept because it makes for shitty storytelling and promotes the illogical progression of always-stronger villains.

wish the rest of super was on par with the goku black arc :/ (asides from the opening arc which was also pretty good).

Seriously, this arc has absolutely blown me away. The plot, the action, the voice acting (especially for Zamasu). It started off decent (and raising a lot of questions), but now I haven't been this invested or hated a DB villain this much since Frieza himself.

If I remember right, i went with claws on Jade and really didn't use Rab a lot but you'll see why later on in the game.

I more or less did this, too. It'd be neat to try a spear build with Jade, but she's just too good with brawling. Rab requires a bit more care.
