DxD changed art style with the 4th season (Hero) that came out last year. I don't like it as much as the original style, but it's still fine. For some people I guess it's a much bigger deal. The season itself was really good, though.

3rd season was the only low point so far, and it still was pretty good, it just...completely shredded the plot from the novels.
Sadly, looks like we're never getting the Gremory vs. Sitri rating game animated, was hoping maybe they'd do it as a flashback 2 part OVA for season 4 or something...

His parents were out for the evening and left the boys home alone as investigators said the boys were wrestling at 7pm to see if the family dog would react to the 11 y/o being attacked.

That's when Carter picked up the pistol and removed the magazine but left a single round chambered. The gun discharged when he pointed it at Vaughn.

Sounds at least a bit premeditated, don't you think?

I'm not one to generally say that someone can be objectively wrong about food but fresh meat is objectively better than meat thats been frozen for a month. The inefficiencies and bureaucracy you experience in dealings with government agencies are the result of mandates in the law, typically put into effect by Congress. Some for good reasons, some less so.
But you actually think every time it takes a long time for a government agency to perform an action, it's because the low level employees themselves are intentionally just choosing to wait a few weeks to get to it, lol!
Do you also blame call center employees for the corporate decisions of a company you don't like?

I don't mind Congress and the President still getting paid. the most corrupt and rich won't care either way, but it could impact the few elected officials who aren't wealthy, and lead them into making bad decisions in their haste to escape oncoming debt.

What SHOULD happen though, is that if there is an impasse, then the existing spending levels are maintained while it's sorted out and the employees still go to work and get paid.
If the president and/or some in congress are unhappy with the current spending levels and want to make a stand about it, put the onus on THEM to resolve it in a timely manner. Because otherwise each day that ticks by, the spending is done the same way.

But of course, then they couldn't have nearly as much theatrics about the stand off, nor get jollies out of economically crushing middle class federal workers.

It doesn't have to be, but it often ends up being based on anti-Semitism.

The example of the UN passing tons of resolutions against Israel for their military activities compared to the few or none passed against other countries who've done worse being the most prominent one.

In general, if someone seems to be criticizing Israel excessively compared to other countries for similar actions, holding Israel to a higher standard than its neighbors, or so on, it's likely based on anti-Semitism by the person, whether consciously or unconsciously.

I mean, look how much we in the U.S. freak the fuck out about some Mexicans coming here for jobs. Don't kid yourself for a second, if Mexico started lobbing rockets at us because they're upset we are "occupying" the southwest US, there would be a military response, and it'd be brutal.

From the US Department of Justice:

Between 2012 and 2016, COHEN concealed more than $4 million in personal income from the Internal Revenue Service, avoiding more than $1.3 million in income tax. COHEN also made false statements to a federally insured financial institution to obtain a $500,000 home equity loan.

Finally, in 2016, COHEN made or caused two separate payments to women to ensure that they did not publicly disclose their alleged affairs with a presidential candidate in advance of the election. In one instance, COHEN caused American Media, Inc. (AMI), which was identified in previous court filings as Corporation-1, to make a $150,000 payment to one woman; in the other, COHEN made a $130,000 payment to another woman through an LLC he incorporated for the purpose of making the payment. COHEN was reimbursed for the latter payment in monthly installments disguised as payments for legal services performed pursuant to a retainer, when in fact no such retainer existed.

COHEN made or caused both of these payments in order to influence the 2016 election and did so in coordination with one or more members of the campaign.

AMI is the owner of the National Inquirer.

I support the death penalty.

But it should only be used for homicide cases that are especially heinous or multiple deaths, and only in cases where there's no real doubt that the person convicted committed the crime. Like Dylan Roof, or that Cruz guy who shot up the Florida high school last year.

Unfortunately, a lot of other pro-capital punishment people are a little too gung-ho about using it in a wide swath of cases, and actively resist the Innocence Project and other attempts to re-examine death penalty cases that may have been decided unfairly or with missing/corrupted evidence.

It feels lonely, being pro-capital punishment yet also strongly supporting the Innocence Project. If capital punishment is so deeply flawed, it's better to shine a light on it and take measures to fix the issues (scrapping immunity laws that legally protect prosecutors from outright hiding evidence from the defense or lying would be a great start!) than try to hide it.
Not only does supporting the latter mean you're a disgusting human being who wants innocent people to be killed just to protect your precious punishment method. It also does way more damage to "the cause" when the truth gets out anyway if it's been actively fought and buried by the pro-capital punishment crowd.

The murder was not justified.
But if there was a legal protection for unwilling fathers to disown their responsibility, a "legal abortion" as it's sometimes called, he wouldn't have had any reason to care about the hidden pregnancy in the first place.

I strongly support a woman's right to choose whether she wants the responsibility and burdens of becoming a parent. I also strongly support a man's right to choose whether he wants the responsibility and burdens of becoming a parent. Sadly, most people only support the former, or support neither and think babies as "punishment" for promiscuity is a good thing.

Still using Firefox pre-Quantum

It's not safe, and I really need to find a new browser, but I don't know what...

I love IE's user interface, but I don't think I can get Adblock / Ublock / etc... on it?
Quantum still seems bad, and iirc once you upgrade you can't go back if you regret it?
I hate Chrome, both the interface and the resource hogging. NEVER.
I guess I need to check out Pale Moon...

Are you getting Xenoblade Chronicles X?

It's one of the best games on Wii U, and one of the only ones that hasn't been ported to Switch.
I'm not even sure they could port it to Switch...at least not in any form where you play in docked mode, it makes such heavy use of the gamepad screen to manage probes, fast travel, etc...

i'm more concerned with the fact he was fired over it,

Student: This is my name
Teacher: No it's not I'm calling you the name I want

I'm fine with firing that teacher. That's really not an appropriate way to treat a student (or anyone, really, and it's pretty disturbing how many people think they're taking some sort of moral high ground by acting that way), and that means he shouldn't be working as a teacher.

He offered to use the boy's name and to avoid feminine pronouns

Well done, you mis-characterized the actual situation about as much as is logically possible!

annoying as fuck

There are several reasons I'm glad I don't ever have to work in retail again. And Christmas music is so awful, it's actually right up there w/ the low pay, no benefits, etc...
And I "only" had to hear it for a month. There's some poor souls forced to hear it on their store's speakers for a solid 2 months now. Legit don't know how they don't mentally snap.

District Spokeseman Michael Lawrence said it happened Thursday morning at Lake Brantley High School as panic ensued when a Lake Brantley student shared the screenshot of the alert that teachers also received during the drill that warned of an active shooter on school grounds
................................................................
Principal Trent Daniel sent out an email that stating that a student was responsible for the "campus disruption caused by a social media post" and added that it is being investigated as a "disciplinary matter and all responsible parties will be disciplined"

What "disruption"?
Anyone at the school was already being told by the alert system that there was an active shooter, and not being told it was just a drill.
Anyone not at the school finding out about it via the social media post wouldn't arrive until the drill was over anyway.

Sounds more like the school is pissed that the student publicized the incident to world and brought the well-deserved embarrassment and condemnation on the school that it's now receiving.
And thus, they're going to try and punish the student. Who probably wasn't even trying to humiliate the school and legit thought s/he may be about to die and was sending the alert message out so loved ones could find out about it promptly.
