Republican voters at the end of the day want an insult comedian as President. Someone who will attack his enemies mercilessly, regardless of who they are. Someone who will say out loud their worst thoughts and thereby make them safe. That's what Trump provided and why they love him so much.

The only way to defeat Trump is to punk him, to make him own his losses, his high chance of losing to Biden again or ending up in a prison cell. The fact that DeSantis won't do this dooms him out of the gate because Republicans don't want a punk who won't attack and just says rehearsed lines of standard far right propaganda. To become the alpha, you must defeat the alpha, or at least not be visibly shaking at the prospect of looking the alpha in the eyes.

It's actually worse because he earns the same hatred Trump got for his fascism, but with none of the media trained weirdo outsider, America's id charm. AND he's clearly susceptible to getting Jebbed, corncobbed, and soyfaced. He's got no shot if Trump is anywhere but in a casket or a prison cell in 2024.

We should stop putting human beings on pedestals, from Mother Theresa to MLK Jr. And I LOVE MLK Jr.'s ideas, but he's a great example of what happens when someone is transformed into some type of paragon of peace rather than a real person. His actual views and acts get filtered out, but not just randomly, it's done for political purposes.

It's not just presidents. I don't like any individual person that much for them to qualify as a "hero" or beyond criticism. And that's not edgelordism, or nihilism, I have strong beliefs and some people were much closer to "ideal" than others, but no one was particularly close.

We need to cut hero worship of all public figures anyway, exactly because of this example. It gives people the license to think that if they're powerful or influential enough, future generations will lionize them and ignore their atrocities.

People should be assessed accurately, and their ideas should be too. If an idea is good, then good, but good ideas should not make us ignore hypocrisy or people destroying the ideas they claim to uphold.

Keep the good ideas and take them to their logical conclusions. The slavers don't need statues or poems or glowing hagiographies.

Seems pretty simple to me, but a lot of people actively want the minimization of horror that comes with lionizing a person who wrote pretty things, while performing brutality. That's a very convenient political idea for some.

It's so easy for them to believe in politically motivated conspiracies because they're constantly engaged in them. They fundamentally believe everyone is awful as them and is simply hiding it like they are.

Congrats! I'm also at 10 pounds in a month, it's clearly becoming much harder to get below this point and I'm calorie restricting, cooking all my meals, and going to the gym daily, cycling between arms, cardio, legs, cardio, arms etc. I'm looking to lose 45 more to get to my ideal weight (according to the web at least). Much of the most horrific abuse humans have inflicted on other groups involved a mix of hatred and convincing themselves that the horrible treatment was somehow meant to benefit the victim.

On the one hand, it's an incredibly dangerous and reckless activity, and I have zero zero zero love for drunk drivers.

On the other hand, addiction is a horrible things, and I never like it when people are locked up forever for a crime that by itself doesn't justify that, even if I hate the crime and they've done it a lot.

This has little to do with the tenant. This is happening because we don't take care of disabled retirees. Because mortgages are too expensive. Because pensions and retirement funds have been decimated. Because Social Security and Disability payments aren't enough to live on.

If the tenant never lived there at all, he'd be in the exact same situation. That's what we need to talk about here and it's disgusting that this story would be framed so as to ignore the central issues.

I didn't play Xenoblade 1 until last year and it was still one of the greatest RPGs I've ever played. The music, the characters, the battle system, the exploration and visual style all held up to the maximum extent possible despite the graphics not even being amazing when they came out. I'd highly recommend starting with Xenoblade 1 DE and going from there.

They had a racial caste system they took for granted, it elevated them by default, and that's what they believe made America "great", or at least having White men at the top did. That's why they perceive black people having basic rights and autonomy as an attack and a loss of rights for them. Having your servant class/lower caste comparison that you could treat with infinite cruelty does kinda suck when your ideology makes you value domination and control and the ability to exert it above all else.

They're trying to ban any source of accurate information that leads to people being aware of or opposing discrimination or unjust hierarchies. Because they support those hierarchies outright and think there's nothing wrong with them or think they're good or necessary. They also recognize that people who are aware of history and can think of things beyond "personal responsibility" will almost never vote Republican.

They don't think persuasion is an option anymore, so they're just trying to make sure some types of people can't vote, never enter the country, never come into existence, or stop existing. It's fascism and they're attempting it wherever they have control. They're fine with saying the quiet part out loud now because they know they won't win in an open, free society and will just try to lock in their power where they can.

Juries are a state function. And the state decides whether to seek the death penalty in the first place. They decide what evidence to present and what to withhold. They decide what crimes are eligible for the death sentence in the first place. They decide whether they have the death penalty. They decide who is pardoned or has their sentence reduced to life in prison. They carry out the killing. It's a state decision and a state action.

Additionally, the Supreme Court has explicitly held that it is unconstitutional to execute even child rapists. It is only legal to execute people who intentionally killed other humans. This would be an illegal and morally repugnant law.

A lot of the best people are going to leave. They're already leaving as we speak and that's before this rollback. Additionally, a lot of these government offices have legally binding agreements with their unions providing for telework or remote work. I would hope "Union Joe" wouldn't shred those agreements for the sake of Bowser and real estate interests.

Republicans take it for granted that no social issues that lead to violence can actually be solved, so they want you to arm up instead. They want a society where no improvement is possible because everyone is armed and hypersuspicious of everyone else.

It's the same mentality that billionaires have toward climate change. They take for granted that we're not going to do what's necessary to solve the problem (while actively stopping attempts to do so), instead they plan for a future where we haven't solved it and they leave to terraform Mars.

How many places do they do what I've suggested? It's worked where it's been tried. We've steadily increased the budget for homelessness for decades now and it's not working. Hell in my opinion it's the main problem.

To much time and money is wasted on people that just use it so continue their life style rather then uplift themselves.

In all my time on this board, I've never seen you post something that didn't have the gist of "this group of people is hopeless/not worth helping/we're spending too much on marginalized group X."

We spend money on ways to circle around the problem because we don't want to do the thing that works: providing housing and support services. That's what works, we don't do it for reasons of ideology.

Do not listen to doomers or people spouting incel adjacent rhetoric. Success is possible, even though the numbers are certainly skewed. No one is putting their pay on these apps, so that's not actually an issue. I've found that often times, people don't even notice my job. It's a visuals, vibes, and humor driven arena. That's what you need to focus on. If you haven't taken 5-7 high quality, good variety pics, imagined how your profile comes off from a woman's (presumably) perspective, and worked on your canned and tailored opener skills, you're not giving yourself the best chance.

You can stand out by not being a horndog with some people and by being a respectful and funny horndog with others. You also need to remember that people not responding is not a judgment on you all the time, other people are living complete and busy lives and don't always have time to respond to each stranger that reaches out to them. They might also be looking for something different at that time. It's kind of a crapshoot out there. All you can do is put your best foot forward and avoid getting jaded like the plague because that attitude seeps out and it doesn't help.

They just keep upping the ante. As trans people have been warning for years now, this has genocidal intent and there's no limiting principle. We've already seen a far right government take each of the steps the Republican Party is taking and it didn't stop there. It ended with death. We're on that path unless things are stopped and reversed.

All of this shedding crocodile tears for the children was merely for show. It was a shield that allowed them to spread hatred and cloak it as love or concern. It was never actually about the children. It's always been about maintaining gender and sexual lines and rigid hierarchies within those lines. This was always the end game.

They don't think trans people exist or can exist. They want them to not exist and will enforce that through the power of the state. They'll attack them early when they're children or later when they're adults, but the constant is always attacking.

This is absolutely infuriating! Democrats have power and they refuse to wield it! Dragging their ass on this is going to be catastrophic because if these vacancies are unfilled and a Republican wins, they will be filled by a right wing ghoul.

That ghoul will then proceed to strip everyone nationwide of civil and economic rights. It's not a hypothetical, a case I just worked on came back with a terrible decision written by a team consisting of a Bush, Reagan,and Trump appointee. The decision harms poor people, disabled people, everyone. That's what these people are causing through their weaponized incompetence, hoarding of cushy positions, and fake identity politics.

While non-woke people may find some aspects of LGBT people and culture confusing and many have bigoted views, this stuff is weirder and more immediately offputting than any of that stuff. It comes off as obsessive and unhinged.

The Kirk types who have been in conservative echochambers since birth and have little interaction with actual normal people don't get that. They think talking about LGBT groomers is some genius strategy, an auto-win button. But it primarily works on people who already have or are susceptible to brainworms. For regular people, doing this shit makes it look like YOU are the one obsessed with kids and sex.

They think it wins elections because of Youngkin and random schoolboard stunts and elections. But it demonstrably does not.

Isn't this literally what they wanted? They raised interest rates to cause a recession. The bank crash was in large part caused by increased interest rates. So this is just that with extra steps.

Stop trying to change my words. Atheists can be very condescending to religious people/people with religious beliefs, and this board specifically is pretty egregious at it.

It has to do with the ideas people push and the impact they have. No one is dunking on Christians for turning the other cheek or being gracious towards their fellow man. No one hates on Muslims for complying with their obligation to be charitable. Even when people believe the entire religion is false.

So why do you think people are less than pleasant when the subject is conversion therapy, intelligent design, anti-LGBT laws, or banning abortion? Don't you think there's a difference between that and charity? Or some common negative qualities that tie these latter examples together? Those are all religious beliefs, so maybe religion being the source of the beliefs or even the veracity of the religion is not the issue????

When was the last time they did something good that was not also supported by Democrats? What is the specifically Republican policy that is targeted towards ordinary people and not corporations or the rich? That's good for the average person and is not an attack on some group of disfavored people?

I haven't seen one. The party in its present form should not exist. It's an active cancer on democracy in every sense of the word.

Its not corporate speak, its personal exp. People I've encountered that refuse to work are generally young, lazy, entitled, egotical NEETs. That produce nothing of value, consume far more, and the rest of society has to care for.

How else are those people surviving with no income? Adults not having to work is a privilege unheard of until modern day.

It's also telling how in a topic about a systemic flaw of capitalism: the omnipresent tendency to rely on younger, cheaper, and more exploitable work, regardless of the damage that does to the child, you attempt to redirect the topic to focus on your personal moral assessment of some adults you know.

Life is not a morality play. Capitalism gleefully exploits children.
Also maybe those adults present as "lazy" because they're expected to work hard for wages that don't pay the bills? Why work hard if you don't get any of the things hard work is supposed to provide. This may come as a surprise, but when the work is not interesting, people only work hard to get things.

If worker shortages are real then you really only have 3 options. Have more baby's, increase immigration, or lower the working age.

You've accepted corporate framing by omitting the most obvious option: higher pay. Conservatives and business people are always dunking on socialism for conflicting with "basic economics." But then they forget supply and demand when it's convenient for them.
