Wife has been unemployed since May, fired because she got long covid(because of her employer no less) then shattered her ankle really badly. And we were struggling before that because I've had the worst luck with jobs for a few years, and declining mental health.

I have been working, but my contract ended in February and I haven't been able to find a replacement until now.

Yeah this all started because my job told me a week before my wedding they wouldn't approve time off for the wedding or honeymoon despite having requested it five months before

Bankruptcy is definitely under consideration, but I'm trying to avoid it. Fact is it really isn't going to restrict me from anything I'm not already restricted from.

Biggest problems are dealing with the anger and suicidal thoughts(not in danger of it now, don't worry) because while some of this is definitely my fault, the things that put us at this point absolutely aren't.

Kinda wish we'd sued both of my wife's previous employers, try to make then carry some of this burden.

Wife never got a call back :(

Basically, the State pays for one month of expenses with very little requirements.

The only catch is that this can only be done just once in your lifetime.

Do you think you'd be interested in learning network engineering? Pays well and doesn't cost much to learn. It's a huge time sink to learn it and I'd recommend actually checking to see if you're interested in the subject material, but... If it sparks your interest and you get the hang of it, it's a skill that will make a lot of employers interested.

Maybe but I'd have a lot more steps I'd need to take before that point. I've thought about different trades but the reality is my ADD makes it incredibly hard to focus, and my depression makes working in any environment where I'm not engaging with people a challenge. Neither insurmountable, but I need to be able to get some regular therapy and medication first.

Understood. If you ever feel like you're ready to take a look at it, I can share some videos with you that will go over the basics. IMO, it's the kind of thing that will bore you to tears pretty quickly or spark interest pretty quickly. If it ends up being the former for someone, I wouldn't recommend trying to do it professionally.

Thank you! I'll definitely consider it. I genuinely love doing customer service especially in call centers, but not sales so that kinda limits my potential there :(

Yeah, one reason I went into network engineering was to get away from the average end user. I did tech support for 5 and a half years and was burned out. The job in its purest sense was cool. I liked helping people who didn't understand computers with computer-related problems, but there are too many people who:

• Clearly Don't know jack shit
• Think they know everything
• Try to tell you how to do your job
• Don't want to listen to any recommendations you make to fix the problem they're calling about, no matter how commonly you've fixed their exact problem
• Don't want to take ownership for things they've specifically done to cause their own problems.

When I got hired at a network operations center, one of the things my boss at that company told me was, "For better or for worse, a router, firewall, switch, etc. will do what you tell it to do 100% of the time." That sounded amazing to me, so I gave it a serious shot and it has worked out well.

See, one of my previous jobs was working a call center for a senior focused phone company. I had to walk seniors with zero experience through multiple tech issues and loved it lol

Overdraft protection just stops charges from going through. Had to turn it off when living paycheck to paycheck because it'd block me from accessing funds on payday

I love how three of the four accounts are with Chase, the rep even sees my two bank accounts overdraftwd a combined $500, and the best they can offer is to schedule the payment for the middle of May and expect me to get right back at it as soon as I get the job

Fuck them I'm almost tempted to let the credit card go bust and just block any attempts at repossession.

I've tried Uber Eats and Doordash, they're godawful services when I can even use them and barely cover the cost of gas.

I do not have the mental health stability to do service industry.

I did have an emergency fund. My wife has been put of work for a year because of two emergencies.

But yes, keel trying to be judgemental, it sure helps.
