This is my biggest issue. There's been no civil dialogue regarding this vaccine. Everyone's physiology and situation is different. Any time someone asks a question or makes a critical statement, they become the victim of childish name-calling and insults. I got warned for trolling of all things here not long ago because I raised numerous questions, of which I didn't get any answers. Just insults. These people love to praise science, but do a horrible job at defending it. They completely forget that the very foundation of science is built on challenging existing truths. But now with this vaccine, any kind of criticism is silenced. And to me, that ideology is scarier than anything this pandemic has brought forth.

You don't have the qualifications to criticize the vaccine. Doing that rationally would take decades of study that you clearly don't have, because if you did, you'd have been beating down clinic doors to get it already. Like all actual scientists and doctors already did. Any questions you have could be addressed by a simple google search and selecting a reliable news source or reading a public health website. I guarantee your concerns aren't unique and there's nothing you're "worried" about that hasn't already been addressed a thousand times over. You're not some scientific genius that's come up with a question that never occurred to doctors, researchers, journalists, or public health experts.

The information is all readily available and has been the entire time. That's why we got the vaccine already. While you're sitting here complaining about having "questions", you're also helping variants develop by being unvaccinated, you're higher risk for helping the disease spread, etc.

It's a bad sign that you're asking random posters on Gamefaqs to answer your vaccine questions. That's the type of information gathering that's likely led to you being misinformed about the vaccine and latching on to some victimhood narrative.

Type your questions into google, avoid conspiracy websites, select authoritative, science based sources, read them, understand them, and then go get the goddamn vaccine.

Let's say a poor village is experiencing a famine. There is actually a lot of food to buy, it's just that no one can afford it. Without the food, the people will starve. But there's a profession of people who have ownership over all the food. They already have enough food for themselves, but they buy up all the food the others couldn't have afforded anyway as an investment. They sell food of varying quality at inflated prices that the villagers can just barely afford. But there's no other way to get food within the village if you're poor.

Are the food sellers providing an essential service or are they taking advantage of poverty?

Rent is the very reason that many people can't build savings because they pour money down a hole for nothing for years. Rent is often significantly higher than the mortgage for a comparable space. It's people's biggest and most essential expense, and when you don't pay it, the landlord can just throw away all your stuff and put you out on the street, forcing you to pay additional startup costs specifically because you didn't have money.

Landlords buy up all the property that may have otherwise been available for purchase. When the renter can't afford to purchase, they literally pay just not to be homeless. It's literally the worst form of rent seeking behavior. It's unproductive and exploitative when we're talking about poor people, not people who choose to rent for convenience. It's a stick up operation. That's not a "service", it's a broken economic system.

The CDC says that it is more severe. But I acknowledge that the jury is still very much out on that point.
There's no question that it spreads way more quickly and takes advantage of unvaccinated populations though.

In the rare case that someone cant get the vaccine, then they can take extra precautions. We dont do anything special for people who cant get the flu shot or chicken pox vaccine.

As for the risk of new variants, Im not going to run around scared about some theoretical possibility, every virus that exists can mutate and be dangerous, we cant make policy on the what if scenarios or else this pandemic will literally never end.

It's not a what if scenario. We're already in the world of the Delta variant which is more severe AND as infectious as chickenpox. It was allowed to spread due to the lack of vaccination in India, the UK, and the US. The Lambda variant has already been identified and is also vaccine resistant.

Not masking up and not vaxxing up is going to get a lot of people killed and society re-shut down, regardless of your reason for doing so.

But that's impossible when some people act so recklessly, so selfishly, so thoughtlessly as to treat the prevention of deadly, contagious disease as an entirely personal choice that can't be challenged. That choice directly affects whether other people live or die, can work, are permanently harmed, etc. It's harming businesses, it's harming schools, it's harming society as a whole to choose not to get vaccinated.

For now, you have the right to refuse, but don't think for a second that people won't have a lot of negative things to say to willful plague vector.

Unfortunately, his and T.I.'s views aren't even close to uncommon. Mainstream rap has often been so hypermasculine it's beyond parody. He's partially right about why they're talking about him, but of course they're gonna talk about him. He's still easily the most important politician in the country other than Biden himself with a grip on the balls of one of the two major parties in this country. That's not because of the media talking about him, it's an independent fact.

This is way too reminiscent of all the people who said that the media were causing racial discord by focusing on police brutality and systemic racism because it helped ratings. Maybe they did do it for ratings, but it's just a way to blame cultural enemies rather than the country as a whole for the country's problems.

Yep, maybe this is correct. But it'll take a hell of a lot of evidence and may be impossible to justify. And that's ignoring the question of whether horrible things can be justified by good things happening later. And if the balance comes out negative, the advocates of that stance defended horrible things for no reason.

Seems like mostly downside and relatively little upside that is hard to even call upside. Just like the outcomes of bombing Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia back to the stone age for geopolitical/ideological reasons.

I get zero percent of my opinions from the Kremlin. Yes, depriving people of their political choice and sovereignty and imposing our vision of order on them through violence is bad. The band-aid that you're talking about is people's lives, their culture, and their self determination. All of which cannot be recovered once they're stolen.

Maybe the countries in Central and South America would have discovered a better economic system that could have been a better model than authoritarian communism or capitalism? Maybe they would have devolved into hell holes? They'll never know because we took that freedom away from them and imposed our own vision through blood.

The share of the world's population living in democracies has skyrocketed during the Pax Americana. As have incomes, literacy levels and access to health care. All while poverty, hunger and deaths from war decline.
