You're missing something here - more specifically, count how many threes and fours there are in circles right now in your solution

My dad played tons of NES LoZ, growing up both my parents played age of empires and mario kart (and I don't just mean in the sense that they reluctantly played it to play with their kids). Nowadays my mom plays mostly random facebook games and my dad plays... wordle, if that counts lol

the internet has become pretty polarized in the last few years while at the same time advertisers feel like they have gotten even safer with what they will/will not accept on pages. Properly moderating an open access general discussion forum nowadays just takes a lot of effort and I'm not really surprsied they just don't think it's worth dealing with anymore.

imo this is similar in concept to how many news sites have closed down the comments sections at the bottom of their articles. It takes a disproportionate amount of effort to manage them for how they are not even the main draw of the site

edit: so yeah I'm not sure there is any "constructive criticism" to give. as someonewho uses CE I sort of wish it didn't end up like that, but it's not particularly surprising it happened eventually and I don't think a compromise that gets what the users want while still fitting within the requirements of what fandom seems to be going for is even possible

my family has two fairly old large chest freezers and we clean them and scrape the ice off once per year. honestly it's probably a good thing since it also helps us index whatever's in the freezer so we don't lose track of things

I dunno, depends on which people and how much you care about what they think. Just go look up a gameplay vid or something and you'll probably see what I mean pretty quick

I have a few friends who play(ed?) it and they said the story is waay better than you'd expect from a game where all anyone talks about is jiggling butts

but personally I really have a hard time picturing anything in that sort of gacha zone being actually fun to play

I'm actually not sure if I've played any games in this category

In order to add a 'talk to npc' feature, I'm doing an OverlapSphere check to find if there's any NPC object near the player, then if there is checking if the player is facing them. If so set them as the interactable NPC, and change the function of the jump button to talk. but idk it seems like I could come up with a better/more efficient way to do it.

I dunno for sure what the best way to do this is but I recommend renaming SwitchToJumpState since somewhere down the line you will definitely be confused why a function with that name sometimes switches to talk state

you just gotta embrace the old IRC chatroom style - 4 conversations all going on at once in the same place, about different topics, and people hopping back and forth between them as they please

a rather recent memory, but I remember a few years back there was a giant topic full of tons of troll-ish edits to the trolley problem. really simple concept yet still one of my favourite CE topics

I think you misunderstood it slightly. The discussion here is not the "healthy discussion" anyone is looking for, and this place is a quarantine zone, not an exclusive super cool club

though I do sort of thing pokemon shouldn't have gone 3D either, since they clearly struggled with that

honestly if you really want to do this you should just find some existing forum creation sites instead of making your own thing. not really worth the effort

It was a 2D platformer where you were a little smiley face and people would make various maps, simple jumps and obstacles, but damn was addicting. You would play simultaneously with other people so it was kind of a race to the end.

I don't... really see *new* people coming to CE at all these days. The vast majority of us are old hands of at least five years, and over ten years is still a majority.

I think the big thing it does really is that it makes banned people actually stay banned. which seems to me like it would have a pretty positive effect overall tbh

I kinda liked all the level types in their own ways. the clues in the treasure hunt levels are fun ideas and it's interesting planning strats for the mech levels to get points for the a rank

I was in early elementary school and there was like a fight every day in the schoolyard over pokemon cards. actual stealing, accusations of stealing when it didn't actually happen, damaging/tearing up cards, and even dumb stuff like kids getting into a fight about not wanting to trade cards with someone else

I think the point is that it is sort of a framework to help people piece together all the different steps and break the problem down. It doesn't actually give you an answer but it helps you make an estimate based on individual probabilities you believe are true rather than just shouting a number out of nowhere.

It's a bit dumb with comparisons to more real-life scale things but imo makes a fair bit of sense with very large/small numbers since people are bad at dealing with those normally. Yes, the universe is extremely massive. But it turns out if you take a massive number and multiply it by 0.001 five tiems in a row, it gets surprisingly small

D/P saving is extremely slow. can be like a minute long if you've added/removed any pokemon from your PC

I don't think the saves fail or anything they just take forever.

bots obviously play nothing like real people in any way

I mostly didn't play online games in this era but honestly I really do like automatic matchmaking. removes the intimidating factor of actually having to choose and play against specific people

it's worth a try if you're at all interested in deckbuilders and aren't immediately turned off when you hear roguelite. it essentially invented the genre and spawned legions of copycats but none of them measure up to the original imo

I like how they're incremental value while you try to defend them, but I'm not too big a fan of when they are particularly effective at defending themselves. too much of a one-man-army sort of feel

I think the main problem is that playing to win in commander basically always means some sort of infinite combo kill everyone at once deck. nothing else really works, for two reasons:
1) there's 3 other players (or even more) instead of just 1 and they all start with extra life, so actual normal combat takes forever to get anywhere
2) if you appear to be too far ahead, you get blasted out of existence

which basically means the goal in commander is to look like you are doing nothing until suddenly you oneshot every other player simultaneously with no warning
