At 36 I was diagnosed with severe GERD. A few months later with Burkitt's Lymphoma (caught at stage 1 they believe it's cured now). At 38 my elbows really started bothering me. At 41 I somehow managed to herniate c5, c6, and c7 bad enough to need them fused. I had to put myself between a large man in his early 50s and a tiny 17 year old girl at Target pretty early on. Dude was red faced rage screaming at her because she asked him to out a mask on. So I got between them, told her to go get the manager, and dude started screaming at me. I've never wanted someone to take a swing at me as badly as I wanted him to. It must suck something fierce to be in for one kind of surgery and wake up to have the doctors be like "hey bro, we uh...found something else while we were in there".
