Wear a mask in public
Don't stand too close to strangers
Get vaccines if you want them
Nothing will happen to you if you're an asshole and ignore all this

Truly we were experiencing a preview of Biden's dictatorship. Republicans said it was basically Nazi Germany or North Korea.

There's nothing stopping you from wearing one.

I still see the occasional person at the grocery store wearing them.

Ill only disagree with that part, because people legit got fired for not complying to vaccine mandates. Especially if you had a government job.

So to say nothing will happen is kinda disingenuous. I understand your point, but I dont necessarily agree with it.

That kinda shit just made all the big bad freedom tough guys look like frauds. Oh sure, you're totally gonna go to war if Biden wins another election. You can't even handle an underpaid 20-something cashier asking you politely to step back without throwing a temper tantrum!

I mean I get your point TC but it also depends on where you lived

you basically couldnt be inside at a place with other people for the better part of a year, so no gatherings, events, essentially no getting out of the house etc

i dont disagree with it but you dont need to downplay that the pandemic itself was actually very fucking oppressive to everyone to dunk on idiot right wingers

I had to put myself between a large man in his early 50s and a tiny 17 year old girl at Target pretty early on. Dude was red faced rage screaming at her because she asked him to out a mask on. So I got between them, told her to go get the manager, and dude started screaming at me.

I've never wanted someone to take a swing at me as badly as I wanted him to. I wanted the excuse to fuck him up. Which probably reflects poorly on me as a person, but it is what is.

Dude was in my face screaming about tyranny and shit and said "I ought to kick your ass for getting involved". I said something to the effect of "give it a shot" but then the manager came running over with security and dude shriveled up and deflated.

Yeah, I feel a lot of guilt for the fact that the pandemic was basically the best thing for me. I was able to buy a house in socal because my industry did well during the pandemic and I made a ton of money, I was able to cut off friends that I had grown apart from, I was able to spend time reading books which I hadn't really done since college, I got in great physical shape, etc. and I had no deaths in people close to me or I cared for.

lmao it wasn't oppressive at all. A couple minor inconveniences and everyone lost their shit. I regret mentioning Republicans in the second part of my OP because it wasn't just them who were affected.

And yet I'm supposed to believe right-wingers will start a civil war, or that we'll stage a revolution if the GOP takes over. We couldn't even handle wearing masks and not going to large social gatherings for a little bit without getting traumatized.

You really gotta be extremely online to think essentially being confined to your house save for grocery shopping (and work, if you didnt lose your job and were deemed essential) for an entire year is a minor inconvenience

Yeah, this. It was absolutely justified and necessary, and was the right thing to do in the circumstances, but it did also have a very oppressive feel to it. Extreme situations call for extreme measures, that's just reality.

Man I didnt do fucking anything for a god damn year and a half

getting out of the house meant going for a walk around the block

we skipped over a years worth of family holidays and weddings even when other people went to them

Every night was puzzles and board games

and yet yall are trying to gaslight people into thinking it was a minor inconvenience and just a right wing American thing to think hey, that sucked

It's weird but I kind of miss parts of the worst of a pandemic. There were only a few people I permitted myself to see indoors:

1. My kids who I was starting to see a lot more often after winning some ridiculous custody battle with my ex-wife

2. I started dating my now wife at the time and we just spent a lot of time hanging out at my apartment and going on hikes

3. One guy friend who had been isolating quite a bit as well, and I would go to his place and stay over and we would drink whiskey and listen to vinyl all night

Plus the roads and the stores were so much more empty. I hate traffic and such

I masked up and got my vaccine as soon as I could and shit was still oppressive as fuck
-Library I worked for permanently closed because of the pandemic, making me unemployed for a solid 2 and a half years
-Attempts to start my masters via virtual courses didn't work out because the people running the new virtual courses were running like headless chickens to get them started
-Basically self isolated in my house with nobody to talk to
-Buying things was a hassle thanks to asshole hoarders
-Despite taking all precautions masking up and barely going out, still caught COVID and felt like shit for a while

But no, it was totally only the anti vaxxers and anti maskers that had a rough time of it.

Personally my life was barely altered during Covid. All I do is work and come home and spend my time at home. I never spend time with people anyway. So I was still doing this. Sure there was a little less traffic out on the roads but I already live in a sparsely populated area of the Midwest in the middle of cornfields and soybean fields with farms all around and just some highway driving. So that aspect wasn't much different.

Once a week I would go to the grocery store and sure I had slip on a mask but my days off are Monday and Tuesday so I always do my shopping on a Monday around Noon. Again I live in a low population area of the Midwest. The 'big" city I go to for grocery shopping is a town of 13,000 people. So it is always almost empty anyway except the employees and a few retired people or stay at home spouses doing a little shopping.

So other than wearing a mask for grocery shopping my life was exactly the same. Not much changed. When I'm not at work I'm at home playing games, reading, listening to music, watching tv/movies, and just spending time on my property which I like. That is where I always want to be when not working.
