The way it's talked about in the game makes it seem like it was a scandal for the police but it was a shame for Misty because she got it wrong.

What I find weird about this would be like, the scandal would be that mediums don't actually have spiritual powers or something and she's a total fraud

But there doesn't seem to be any actual disputing that she HAS spiritual powers, it's just that using them did not successfully solve the case

Catan was my gateway but it doesn't interest me too much to play it anymore - I feel like I've solved it, and 'solving' the game doesn't feel very fun. Playing the game optimally means blocking people out from getting to good settlement locations as a matter of necessity, and it means basically never trading because trading with someone when it's not your turn is almost strictly suboptimal to do.

Fix the load times.

Don't change a single other damn thing about this game. It is awful and I love it. I love how awful it is. Don't make it better and turn it into a mediocre, forgettable game. I don't want that for Sonic '06.

But the load times are not an integral part of enjoying this game's shittiness. No matter what, it would be improved with non-shitty load times.

Merchant looked like he was dancing to me in the most recent gameplay video I watched, but he wasn't dancing in an earlier video a couple of months ago

I thought this remake looked really terrible in the trailer, like the charm was just sucked out of the original with no real upside to it

Did they at least include an actual rearranged soundtrack or did they leave it as a copy and paste from what I saw in the early looks

i was underwhelmed by boss monster - fits the typical american game mold where cards/characters are full of stats, there are too many unncessary rules, and the whole thing seems a bit strategically flat. c'mon now, ONUW is definitely better than that

colt express is a pretty good time though. the programmy element works well, and there's always that moment of comedy gold when somebody did exactly the wrong move at the wrong time

Yeah I was really disappointed in Boss Monster for all the reasons you said, rules didn't feel very clean, strategy was pretty whatever, game flow felt weird

The Seattle/Tacoma area is the only place I've seen in the country with natural beauty that might rival Hawaii.

Whoa, whoa. Man, there are some things about this area that are beautiful - the mountains, the puget sound, the fact that we built our cities inside temperate rainforests that tower over everything - but Hawaii is on another level.

It doesn't matter if she's doing the right thing out of the goodness of her heart or not because hoping for that is just setting yourself up for disappointment. The best we can get out of politics is to use our votes to force politicians to do the right thing in order to get elected - that's how we can have a democracy that actually works and doesn't fuck us over

I get that social deduction games are popular, but I seriously cannot understand the appeal. I have never had fun playing one - not once. They all seem to be big guessing games. I see no actual deduction; just atempts at guessing if the other person/people are lying.

I think it's really dependent on your group. All of my groups tend to take social deduction games pretty seriously, so there's a lot of material to work with - both in logical deduction but also in trying to seriously read people, both from their behavior but also their actions. I know that some people play those games pretty low-key though so it's probably not as fun if you just go through the motions without really making your best attempt. These types of games are best when you really try to encourage discussion as much as possible and try to force the 'mafia' players to slip up and show their hand.

And yeah, the one you guys were thinking of is Coup. Coup is, in fact, basically a better version of Mascarade, so you're pretty on point.

I've actually played Mascarade a fair number of times. It's... okay, but it's pretty swingy. We haven't played it in a while and I think it's shelved for the most part.

I agree on everything you said about Secret Hitler. Worse times can be had, but I think it's just a shitty version of Resistance with a really tasteless theme (there's always the ONE asshole at the table who makes crass nazi jokes. It's like, we fucking get it already). All of the criticisms you gave are totally accurate. SH just hasn't encouraged good debate or interesting play at our table whereas Resistance has given us hours upon hours of it. (Resistance is my favorite game.)

To be fair, I think there really are genres for which a perfect game has never been made

I almost added the line about how "his true identity is shrouded in mystery" but I thought that would make it too obvious. They knew what they were doing by calling Samus a 'he'
