Have a question

I watched a stream of the game where it said the orbital probe fired 9345 times, but the wiki has it as 9,318,054 times. Was that patched out or something?
Yes, it was patched to be a larger number, since 9000 times isn't really enough to grasp the magnitude of what the Ash Twin Project is doing. I think it could have been even bigger but 9 million is enough to make it make sense I think. It also makes it more obvious when you see what the current # is and being able to extrapolate to how many loops you've done I think

So I'm trying to to the Archaeologist achievement
Turned out I totally missed Feldspar's recording about reaching the Giant's Deep core and heading to Dark Bramble when I first went here. I wonder if that would have changed the order I did stuff at all.
I missed this too, but when I went to Feldspar I was able to ask him about the Giant's Deep core anyway.

I have the archaeologist achievement and I know about some of the easier things to miss so feel free to ask me, there were three things I needed to look up and Feldspar's recording was one of them

I dunno, I admit I did have a fair bit of trouble with Outer Wild's controls throughout. I don't think they're *bad* (in fact, I think they're pretty much designed how they need to be) but I do find them *difficult*.

Yeah man, I read up on that especially after your nudge. I landed in the Black Hole Forge a while back, early on in the playthrough.
"Landed on" is funny, I didn't realize you could get there that way. There is another, more intended way to enter Black Hole Forge that I didn't figure out until fairly late in the game

(No longer a spoiler for you really) (this stuff is just curiosity on what info you had when you solved it) did you find the information that is in black hole forge I think about how the towers don't need to align perfectly but can be off by a few degrees and that anyone that walks into the warp is immediately warped out? I think those were the hints that are supposed to tell you to run into the warp after the sand starts to come down (since that's when the center of ash/ember twins is overhead, aka when you can warp)

It's located in a cyclone much bigger than the rest. So no real trick to it, you just need to notice that and then try to land in the middle of it.
Oh yeah, now I remember. I noticed the big cyclone and was like, wonder if I can get in there. Then I did.

I think it's kind of funny that that tower was like, the only explicit puzzle-game segment in the game

Figuring out how to get into the quantum tower on Brittle Hollow was really satisfying for me too, I figured it out too, didn't realize it on accident

Is there actually a secret to getting to the quantum tower on Giant's Deep? I found it and didn't remember it being a problem or anything, I just kinda went there

Chester A Arthur is obscure because he burned all of his bridges making political enemies out of both sides in the pursuit of actually serving the public interest instead of the corrupt system he came out of, and nobody wanted to write his legacy after that. One of the few presidents who doesn't completely suck

With some knowledge of US history under my belt, I feel like Benjamin Harrison is probably the best answer - he's not only obscure but he doesn't really have any good reason to be not-obscure. The most notable thing Harrison probably did was add more states to the union than any other president in a naked power grab for the Republican party, thanks Benjamin Harrison, real swell of you to give us four senators from the Dakotas. Other than that, while he does hail from an era of US history that I think is pretty fucking interesting, you wouldn't really know of anything else that Harrison's done and he didn't preside over any prevailing historic events aside from an economic collapse that kind of got overshadowed by one that happened 30 years later. He's most well known for being in a Grover Cleveland sandwich. You don't want to be in a Grover Cleveland sandwich.

That run up of presidents before Lincoln may be obscure, but considering that was all pre-Civil War stuff it's actually really important and should probably be known.

This stuff really fascinates me, on a more serious note. I was thinking a lot about how they kept feeling the need to change Japanese things to be more western, and they just didn't realize that there was a whole young generation of me and other kids waiting to accept the Japanese things as they were

I was thinking about the Kirby's Dream Land 2 commercial the other day

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EqVVG4FCq7w

And it's absolutely bizarre to me that there was a day once where they thought they had to sell a KIRBY game like this. Kirby, of all things. I don't remember this commercial but I'm pretty sure it would have scared me off as a kid! It's so grotesque and mean when Kirby is so cute

Pokemon wasn't the first thing to change this trend - I feel like Sailor Moon was also a trailblazer here - but I feel like the success of Pokemon killed this era of localization for good. Once everyone saw the cutesy Japanese schtick was beloved here, they knocked it off with this shit, and good riddance.
