long version:
- make it much less realistic and plastic. make Eggman cartoonish again and give the other human characters actual animation.
- shorter load times by actual smart loading processes. if you're using like one screen for a city, don't load the ENTIRE fucking city
- not include load times for a single line of dialogue
- give it actual fucking level design. not these 10-minute long homing attack garbage festivals and outright broken puzzles that feature little in the means of even quarter-decent platforming
- make the medals you can collect actually do something
- fix the controls for basically every character except for Blaze
- Knuckles and Rouge can't get stuck on walls (too many glitches need fixing but this is an obvious one)
- have it so set pieces can't kill you
- actually explain some things, like Rouge having a bomb move
- give the game actual hit detection. especially for the homing attack.
- just get rid of Mach Speed altogether
- also get rid of Silver altogether
- that especially goes for his boss fights
- Elise should have never happened
- the Iblis fights need serious work. they are far too long and dull
- before we even get into shit about Elise or Silver, the entire story
- actual voice direction
- the camera
- probably legitimately a thousand other things i'm forgetting

Fix the load times.

Don't change a single other damn thing about this game. It is awful and I love it. I love how awful it is. Don't make it better and turn it into a mediocre, forgettable game. I don't want that for Sonic '06.

But the load times are not an integral part of enjoying this game's shittiness. No matter what, it would be improved with non-shitty load times.
