I probably wouldn't tell my 12 year old self anything.

I made mistakes during my teens, but 12 was a very influential age for me. At the time I was really fucked up, I had been bullied since like 1st grade and I was feeling really rough, I told my mum that I wanted to walk in front of a car to avoid going to school. I was too much of a bitch to actually do it, but I wanted to cause some serious harm to myself or those around me.

When I was 12, I tried desperately to find media that expressed the feelings that I was feeling. But MA15+ or R18+ movies/shows were always like needlessly violent and dense. I couldn't find anything to relate to, or find catharsis in. It took a weird fucking night of catching End of Evangelion on TV to finally achieve that catharsis, and while I did shitty things afterwards and hated myself plenty, watching EoE was a real turning point and I credit that movie with helping to build the person I have become today.

I would still have to deal with a lot of pain, but I've been through enough to think that I'm pretty good just the way I am. I can always improve, and there are always mistakes that I cringe at from my past. But every day I spend as myself, I appreciate what brought me here - the strength to hold out as long as I did, and the catharsis I sought in bad times to help me be a better person.

guess who's druuuuuuuuuunk

Um no it was installing the next chapter and you could do it all in one go from the main menu iirc and only happened on first playthrough. Also for the 1000th fucking time their is no 90minute cutscene, it's a myth that still persists for some reason.

There is a cutscene that goes for like an hour. It plays a thirty minute cutscene, you get the option of saving after that, then it plays another thirty minute cutscene that picks up right where the last one left off.

I liked MGS4 for the most part, but this cutscene is ridiculous.

Yeah, I've played all of the Solid titles. I played MGS 1, 4, Portable Ops and Peace Walker between January and September of 2015 - all of them for the first time - then bought Phantom Pain on the day it came out. I sunk 100 hours into it during the first week - I was literally waking up, playing MGS5, going out to the kitchen in the middle of the night to ingest the bare minimum amount of sustenance to survive, then going to sleep.

Fun game. Worst MGS game from a story standpoint, but it was a fun game.

I bought a friend's PS3 back in 2014, and I played the hell out of it until it broke down in 2017. Despite getting myself a Switch, I can't help but feel a bit bummed at how things ended with my PS3 - I had just started to play Suikoden 2, and there were still games that I wanted to platinum. There were still games that I wanted to play, period.

So when I saw a secondhand PS3 sitting online for around $75, I jumped at the chance. The Switch is great, but having skipped the PS3/X360 era completely, there are so many last-gen games I want to play at cheaper price points than most NS games. It's more value for money this way, and more vidya games is always better.

The Switch is my go-to console for Fortnite, Stardew Valley and party games - it's essentially my main machine. But the PS3 is where I go for quality games at great prices, in quantity bulks.

So now theres backlash in the gay community against mtf trans who prefer women? Lol

There have always been opposing factions in the LGBTQIA+ community. Trans exclusionary radical feminists, or TERFs, hate trans people. There are gay men who are misogynistic and abusive towards women, and vice versa for gay women. Gay men and women have shat on bi people for "lying about their orientation", or liking both genders "hurting" gay people by making sexuality look flippant, etc. - and that focus recently flipped towards asexual people, with people claiming that they're "hetero invaders". There are people who shorten the acronym or use alternate spellings, dropping bi or trans people. There are people who identify as queer and advocate for its use as a general-purpose term and as a reclaimed slur, and there are people who only see the word "queer" as a slur and claim that anyone in the community who uses it is self-hating, not actually LBGTQIA+ and bringing the word up to hurt others.

There's tons of shit in the community, and to my understanding there has been for a long-ass time. Lots of shitty people co-opting the community and redefining it for themselves and their ilk, and excluding other non-straight orientations and identities for being "icky". The important thing is to rise above that and advocate for unity and fair treatment, but this shit does persist in certain subgroups and it has for a good while.

Antifa is a literal domestic terrorist group, soooooo who cares

more than 30 years of antifa activity, there has been one confirmed fatality caused by an antifa group member in 1993, when a Nazi in Portland, Oregon, was shot during a fight at a gas station. Far-right extremists, by contrast, were responsible for 670 fatalities, 3,053 injuries and 4,420 attacks in the United States from 1990 to 2012, according to a report from the Combating Terrorism Center at West Point.

Even if we class Antifa as a domestic terrorist group, the people they fight against do more damage to more people - and by all means cause more domestic terror.

Antifa is about cleaning the streets of violent Neo-Nazi scum, people who pose an actual threat. They have one reported fatality compared to thousands caused by the racist dipshits they oppose.

Why would you be so spooked and angry at a group of people who only plan to fight the already radicalised and violent?

I dug my heels in for the winter

It wouldn't let go.

And when the time came, I could see it happen
Blossoms rich and deep as Texas crude
I saw the future, rupturing like a broken vessel
Somebody's gonna get screwed.

It won't be me.
Someday I'm going to walk out of here free.

See, despite any blind support that Jessica Price is getting, it's easy for anyone to go into the series of events and see the whole thing for themselves. Do we really need to reiterate how wrong this person is because a small subsect of people stand by them blindly? Just ignore the bullshit, maintain the series of events as they happened, and be chill about it.

The only thing that raving lunacy does is make you look like an unsympathetic asshole. Jessica Price's Twitter behavior has proved this, because anyone who's actually given it a decent look has decried it as shitty behavior. Be decent instead of being bitter, and things won't blow back.

Though I will say:

Yeah, absolutely. I never would have given it a chance if it wasn't free, and I think that's a big reason as to why it's gotten such a foothold in the gaming world. I mean it would have been a big "maybe" even for around $20, but for free? Well, I've played nearly 60 hours of it on my Switch, played daily since it came out.

And I mean shit, you can see the remnants of Gamergate-types in today's world, like "pizzagaters". Good angle to the story, people want to expose child sex crimes, but it stems from some insane theory about Hillary Clinton bankrolling and colluding with a Washington pizza place to house influential and powerful people with sick sexual tastes. All wrapped up in a bow of "Oh, we're trying to accomplish a good thing!" - and inevitably there will be good people buying into it, because they want to stop child sex abuse. They believe in a good cause.

But a driving force behind the whole thing is some conservative fanbase of morons who ascribe some insane conspiracy-level shit to it, to have the same movement cater to the unsympathetic crazies of the world. The type of bold asshole who walks into an establishment and fires a few rounds into the roof in the name of public safety and righting supposed wrongs.

Gamergate was the biggest embarrassment in gaming history. You have a bunch of 24-35 year olds crying about zoe quinn having sex. Then the excuses were sjws were taking over. It was one of the beginnings of the alt right becoming more and more verbal.

While I'm all for mocking alt-righters, if you watch the video I posted that doesn't really sound like a fair summary of the scandal

Keep in mind this was a sort of line-in-the-sand event where people either sided with review sites and believed that people were being harassed and assassinated for being women or were against them and went tinfoil hat against all media

It's hard to find people that can step back and look at the whole thing because both sides are extremely aggressive about "converting" people

That's what makes Gamergate that much more pathetic to me, because you can easily do both.

You can look at the instances of incel fuckfaces harassing women, trolls trying to doxx feminists and sending death threats and such - real, observable events - and still think that gaming websites are inherently biased or tainted by corporate sponsorship, and that a massive upheaval or reform would do some good for everybody. Though even then, you could sympathise with the staff of a gaming website who had to put up with this dogshit - because as shitty and egregious as some of the sites could be, the online pony-sig/anime-sig crowd was inevitably more toxic and objectively created worse content to consume.

The thing about Gamergate and some of its biggest faces is that it all came to prominence via internet basement-dweller rage. Anita Sarkeesian was some nobody YouTuber with a small following, and she only gained as much attention as she did because people rallied against her "Tropes vs Women" videos and kept her name relevant. Zoe Quinn was alleged to have fucked a reviewer for a game review, but the last I heard, the link between her and the reviewer was tenuous at best and raised as supposed fact by a jilted ex. Sarkeesian was given a platform by the Gamergate types, and Zoe Quinn was some lady who wanted to make some games in Twine - she was brought to prominence by her mistreatment, but folks like to play it off as her milking a non-issue for attention. Like she didn't wake up one morning after living a basic, boring-ass life to find some 4chan neckbeards telling her to drown herself in bleach.

Meanwhile, IGN and sites like it would take brand deals involving full-size banner ads, and just throw any old fucker onto a game whether they enjoy the genre or even understand it. Throw a JRPG fan onto a copy of X-Com, and you get a shitty review. Get someone who likes puzzle games and story-based games, and throw them onto God Hand. You get a review that misrepresents the product, and it can lead to games not selling well. When a reviewer doesn't like a game that's sponsored the site, and expresses that in a review, they can get fired. Professional reviews were - and can still very much be - a joke. And there was a good base of people who just wanted some positive change to these systems, and who saw Gamergate as a good way to bring about this change, by protesting.

But that was undermined by a shitty, exploitative side of Gamergate who used the event to just be toxic shitheads and just all-around oxygen thieves. I'd go as far as to call it a majority, because I didn't see a single Gamergater online without an anime sig and a rant about "stupid feminazi bitches". It's why I wouldn't give a pass to Charlottesville protestors who marched with Nazis - even if you did believe in a good cause, you stood shoulder to shoulder with a bunch of reactionary, radically angry fuckfaces. That's your image now, and their sins taint your movement.

Tbh, I still have no idea what gamergate is about.

It's about calling out corruption in games journalism. Games journalism instead claims it's about nazism, violence, bigotry, harassment and terrorism.

Because the jumping-on point for a bunch of people was when a jilted ex-boyfriend ranted about his ex cheating on him, and alleging that she fucked some small-fry reviewer for a fraudulent review on her small-scale indie game. Then 4chan got involved and escalated the situation.

Games journalism has been a shit fight for ages, I agreed before Gamergate and I agree after it happened. And the movement led to reviewers clearly disclosing any deals or whatever, so there's that. But Gamergate did involve a lot of shitheads being shitheads. People were harassed, a lot of pro-Gamergate folks were the "stupid SJW censorship!!" type etc.

It's really down to @SBAllen's incompetence at running the site and CBSi's mismanagement. Allen is totally incapable of growing the site with any amount of success, so he's mostly focused on squeezing whatever ad revenue out of what's left of the flagging userbase. White supremacists trolls still drive engagement and page views, so he's not going to ban them and risk losing out on whatever value he can still salvage from this place. The only time he's going to take a hard measure is when people start going over his head and shit rolls downhill from GameFAQ's parent company.

Now there's an idea.

Not that I would do such a thing, or otherwise state any personal intent to do so on the website, of course.

seriously, why cant they just usermap axe these people

would be a simpler solution in this world but they won't do that.

They managed to keep Dawkins off the site yet all these other weirdos get to stick around.

Dawkins threatened to sue the site, apparently that's an instant and cohesive ban.

Yikes, I hope visiting this blog doesn't get me put on an NSA watchlist. All sorts of crazy going on there, and lol @ the blog being abandoned for like a year before TC decided to bring it back during his insane Twitter stalking of a GameFAQs mod.

Hotline Miami is solid. It's a shame that the second game is banned in Australia, so uness I pirate it (like the developers themselves suggested) I can't play it.

Probably wouldn't play on PC anyway, so that's out of the question almost entirely.

Yeah, I've got Jackbox Party Pack 4 on my Switch. It goes over great at my fortnightly dinner night with friends.

Use Your Words is also a good game in the same style.

Do you mean you have a dinner night with friends every 2 weeks or you play fortnight with friends and have dinner with them?

Why not both? :P

the former
