DmC didn't deserve all the hate it got, considering that it ended up being a somewhat decent action game, but it was an entirely unnecessary redesign aimed at the western market that the west didn't even want.

It was an unnecessary and unpopular redesign with gameplay that ended up being okay. I think criticism of the redesign is totally justified, and though the initial backlash had people disowning the game entirely, I think time has been somewhat kinder to DmC as a whole package and people recognise it as an imperfect product, but a decent enough game to play.

Oh yeah, I was also gonna say - honestly, I prefer games that are either shorter and punchier, or I prefer games that require low commitment on my end to jump into and play. I like DanganRonpa and Minecraft for totally opposite reasons.

I'll still find a game that requires a significant commitment on my part to really enjoy, but those are few and far between as I get older. So to a degree, I can sympathize with the sentiment of this topic. I'm planning to go back to Atelier Escha and Logy when I have the time.

That being said, the sentiment of this topic isn't great. If it's a game with a reasonable length that you can see yourself being invested in, that's great. If the price is too steep, and/or you want something more substantial out of the product than those 15 hours? The reaction in the topic title is totally justified.

It's a balance between cost, length and engagement nowadays. A game could be a great, well-polished 80 hour game, but I have to know that I'll be engaged in it for that long. Otherwise I'm wasting money on a game I'm not going to play.

For example, I bought Atelier Escha & Logy a while back for around $30. I loved Ayesha, I was expecting to love Escha & Logy - it was a game I had to put time aside to play. It had a significant time commitment.

Unfortunately, I stopped at a certain point and I haven't picked it up again. It has a lot of content for a fair price - a bit steeper than I like to spend, but fair for what the game offers - but I just wasn't engaged and the time requirement needed to properly enjoy the game didn't gel with me at the time.

Now, A Robot Named Fight was something like $10 when I got it. I've played 100 hours of that game and unlocked everything. The price was fantastic, there was zero time commitment necessary but I was engaged the whole time.

And then there's World of Final Fantasy, which had a high-ish time commitment and a high cost. I loved it - the game was a very polished and in-depth 40 hour experience, and it was worth the $30 price tag. My engagement was proportional to the pricetag and the amount of content in that game.

If I pay $30+ for a game that I'm invested in, but which only has 15 hours of gameplay? Yeah fuck that. I'll consider it at around $20, and for $15 and lower it'll be on my shortlist. But the price has to be proportional to my engagement and the amount of content it offers. It's a balance.

I thought it was a funny way to approach the actual situation. Drake just DMs this guy in the middle of the night to put him down, basically saying that the only reason his life is worth anything is because he's still alive (and "somehow" managed to marry a black woman).

Rather than making a video like "uguu Drake attacked meee!!!!", the guy makes fun of the response by making up a completely uncharacteristic set of fake DMs depicting Drake as a friendly and thoughtful guy. Absolutely taking the piss out of Drake, sure, but in a way that kills him with kindness.

The video in the OP wouldn't have happened if Drake had seen the video and gone "well shit he's not addressing what I said to him, whatever I guess". He saw that Fantano wasn't taking him seriously and decided to show everyone what he actually said, which is a one-sided put-down which he initiated which makes him look like even more of a bitch than if he actually did send Fantano a cookie recipe.

What I'm saying is that making that video with the fake cookie recipe was the funnier option. He could have done the standard YouTuber thing and gone out of his way to smear Drake - look at that YouTuber who did the "roast battles" recently, who got so buttmad when his event was criticized by others he made the most sarcastically self-absorbed cry-baby pity party video he could to "get back at the haters". Fantano saw one of the most streamed artists in the world telling him he's worth next to nothing, and rather than milk that for clout, he made a fucking joke out of it by depicting Drake as a thoughtful man who sends baking recipes to other people as a means of burying the hatchet.

And by doing that, Drake ended up outing himself as a much more petulant and graceless figure, which makes the joke even funnier because it's completely at odds with the figure that Fantano's video painted him as. He proudly boasted that he sent an internet content creator messages devaluing his worth as a human being, because that same content creator ignored his messages and made up a story about being sent a cookie recipe by Drake instead. I honestly think that's a funnier outcome, and Fantano comes out of this looking better because he can at least poke fun at the situation and have a good time. It seems like Drake is spending all of his time trying to make this beef into an actual real thing, while Fantano is clearly taking it easy.

Like I said, Drake leaked his own DMs because Fantano trolled him. Fantano could have just ignored it and "been a professional" - to which I would say, maybe Drake should have been a professional and not sent those DMs in the first place - but I think he's tackled this whole thing with a lot more humor and humility than Drake has.

Basically, Drake sent a message to Fantano saying "your existence is a light 1, and the 1 is because you're still alive" and Fantano responded by making some fake DMs that depict Drake sending him a recipe for some vegan peanut butter cookies. He made a very tongue in cheek video where he went through the recipe and called Drake a very kind and thoughtful person for thinking of him and sending him such a nice recipe, and in response Drake posted a screenshot of his messages to Fantano saying that it'd be better if he was dead.

Dude could have buried the hatchet, or he could have shut up and taken the playful ribbing or whatever. There was zero reason to leak his actual DMs - in fact, doing so makes Drake look significantly worse than if he just let sleeping dogs lie. But in response to Fantano calling him a kind and thoughtful person, he decided to show his whole ass.

I feel like going free to play is Blizzard trying to compete with Paladins.

It's a silly take, but what other reason would there be to go free to play? OW1 was a fully paid game and it made millions of dollars. As far as I know, the only big f2p hero shooter has been Paladins, and it's almost ten years old and still going strong. I guess they want that sweet mtx money, but they're taking a huge risk where they're offering the game with no up-front cost during the worst optics of their life.

It really does feel like they're following Paladins' league and trying to compete. Granted, I have Paladins in my sig so you know I have a bias. But still.

Zack Snyder is an auteur. Unfortunately, his style is bloated and pompous. His movies are filled to the brim with simplistic platitudes and symbolism that's like being bashed to death with a skillet, and they're filled with what's supposed to be "style" but which is usually clunky and unwieldy CGI.

Zack Snyder's bread and butter is slo-mo money shots set to a blaring choir. It works for one single frame that's intended to look exactly like a comic panel, but the second one of his movies begins to move around and function as an actual movie, the whole thing falls apart. I have no idea why he was getting to make three hour movies to the tune of hundreds of millions of dollars, well past the point that his movies were being critically panned. The dialogue in them has always been dogshit, and a ton of the runtime is "epic" cinematography that's mostly a waste of time in service of trying to look amazing. Every ZS movie I've ever seen has ended with me thinking to myself "what a monumental fucking waste of my time."

Zack Snyder is unironically an auteur. He has a distinct style and flair to his film-making, you can put on a Zack Snyder movie totally blind and tell that it's a Zack Snyder movie. Same with Michael Bay. Unfortunately, ZS's style of film-making is tedious, shallow and unforgivably boring. I've regretted every Zack Snyder movie I've ever watched, and I don't think I'm ever going to watch one of his movies again. I wouldn't have seen any of his movies past Man of Steel if I didn't have friends who sat me down and made me watch them with them. I get that I'm taking this topic way more seriously than I maybe should, but I can say without a shadow of a doubt that I hate Zack Snyder's work. As a person, that's not for me to judge. As a film-maker, I just outright hate his work.

I like posting here as much as the next guy, but I can't understand how someone whose experiences here are so negative spends over ten years making and losing new accounts to troll people. Like his WordPress blog about Error's "mod aboose" goes back to at least 2013, and I'm almost certain he'd already gone off the deep end before that. He's dedicated years of his life to harrassing gamefaqs users on here, WordPress, twitter, Reddit and discord.

And he's always like "haha my life is awesome, you all have to cope by pretending I'm a sad person and that's what's actually sad". And like maybe he does have a good life outside of this abject fucking quagmire of an online presence, but what we ever see of him is someone who spends all of his time on a platform that hates him, intentionally trying to start fights and get banned so he can shitpost about right wing politics on his dumbfuck subreddit and discord server. I don't see how a happy, well-adjusted person spends over ten years doing this shit.

But then you point any of this out, and it counts as him winning because this is exactly the reaction he's trying to get. He wins when people question his mental and emotional stability, because that's how trolling works or some shit. I genuinely don't understand people like Tails. What the absolute fuck is up with people whose brains work like that.

On one hand, the live-action remakes tend to suck and Disney has a track record of having very surface-level representation in their movies. This is better than the slew of "first gay characters" in Beauty and the Beast, Star Wars and the MCU, but I'm somewhat wary because of how terrible Disney's track record has been with these things.

On the other hand, it really is harmless and I'm so fucking sick of the dumbfuck troll takes about "redhead erasure". It feels like "great replacement" bullshit, where they pretend to uphold the cause of redheads as a minority whose few visible role models are being erased in favour of other ethnic groups, when the real point of concern is "ThEyRe bLaCkWaShInG tHe ChArAcTeRs!!!! AfFiRmAtIvE aCtIoN!!!!!!!". It's really fucking stupid. I genuinely feel like those people are the same shit-for-brains making jokes about gingers having no souls and shit back in the 2000's, it's so transparent what they're doing.

Every iteration of the Little Mermaid still exists. Even if this movie is terrible, the first one will exist. friends of mineral town is a remake of back to nature on the PS. I played the series from the snes release up to the last GameCube release, maybe another after but I lost interest around then.

idk if it was burnout or the change in graphics but AWL / Magical melody were the two games where I felt HM started going downhill.

i played the new remake of friends of mineral town on the switch, hated the graphics but damn does that game still hold up imo.

It's crazy how good FoMT was considering it was a demake of a PS1 game. I actually bought Back to Nature on PS3, and I can't get past the isometric controls - Friends of Mineral Town really streamlined the whole experience.

And yeah, the graphics seem like the biggest turn-off about the remake. I wish those fuckers at Natsume hadn't fucked them over with the Harvest Moon branding, I feel like the series lost a lot of its cuteness thanks to that lawsuit.

I bought a mattress today. It was like $1200 - original plan was to get a budget $800 one but this one was half price and I could feel the difference.

Even with the budget mattress, the plan was to get the mattress first and have a floor bed before I got myself a frame. The soonest I'll consider buying a bedframe is next payday, which is two Mondays away. But that doesn't mean I can't start shopping around for one.

The most I would pay for a bedframe is like $600, and even that's stretching it. The one thing I don't want are those bed bases with wheels on the bottom and a headboard you attach to it - I want a sturdy bedframe that sits on the ground and doesn't move. Once I put this bedframe together, I want it to stay put.

Friends of Mineral Town was a GOAT GBA game. idk how the remake fared, but the original one was a landmark farming sim.it was my absolute favourite one before Stardew Valley.

A Wonderful Life is up there as one of the more beloved HM cult classic games. Never played it, but it definitely left its mark.

Just read up on the State of Play.

Honestly, it sounded really good. Yakuza: Inshin! remake for all markets and Tekken 8 are GOAT reveals.

I think I prefer the sheer volume of Nintendo announcements and the reveal of Tears of the Kingdom, but the Sony showcase was really good too. I would have hoped for more, but what they showed looks really good.
