But at the same time those songs talk about getting drunk and pretty chicks and driving trucks, basically just a different take of generic rap music about drinking at the clubs with scantily clad women and driving fancy cars. If you dive into both genres though you can find compelling music in either one. Not sure if it's that twangy out of tune guitar, the overly blunt lyrics (where's the subtlety?), or whatever the deal is, but I can't stand it. That song you're referring to is Goodbye Earl. A funny song, but not much depth to it. Wide Open Spaces is a good starting point for them. Cold Day in July is another fave of mine. They also did a cover of Landslide by Stevie Nicks which is probably my favorite version.
