With that being said, a gay man using it as an insult is still clearly being shitty by doing it. I get gafemage's intentions, and if it was worth the moderation to him then whatever, but it's still a pretty fucked up word to use to insult someone knowing the weight it can carry to people who are around it.

To me, the word f***** has absolutely nothing to do with being gay.

Freddie Mercury is gay, guys that drive like assholes in loud, obnoxious pick-up trucks or sports cars are f*****s.

The word is levelled at all gay men, as well as people who are accused of being gay to further demean them, regardless of your intentions.

The word also has a lot of pointed history towards gay men specifically, where they weren't even deemed worthy of being burned at the stake. They just threw them into the fire beneath whoever was being executed, which is where the f-slur became synonymous with gay men - as the original definition of the word is "a bundle of sticks tied together to make a fire".

The word is like calling gay people kindling, and making light of the fact that they were burnt alive en masse. It doesn't matter how you use it, that's the historical baggage that the word has. You use it to insult a specific, bad group of people rather than to slur a whole demographic, but the word has that baggage across that entire demographic anyway.

It's like how you're not justified using the n-word to slur black people who you deem to be "the bad ones", because regardless of how you use or quantify that word, it has that wider baggage for black people as a whole. In your mind, you're just like "I just mean the ones that stab old ladies to death over $25!", but the word has been levelled against all black people as a derogatory term, and it's historically been used to demean black people as a whole.

There's no moving the goal posts to suit your needs because you want to use the word. The word is a slur to more than your narrow definition, and it has wider implications than just some narrow subset you're trying to insult. You're not justified in using a slur because you're using it to insult a wholly different subset of people that no-one likes, like people who talk too loud in public and have shitty loud vehicles. The history of the word, and the effect on the people who have traditionally been targeted by it, still remain.

I've seen some gay dudes trying to reclaim it online. I heavily disagree with it, I grew up when the word was at the height of its power and it jars me whenever I see it or hear it, but if gay dudes want to reclaim the f-slur for themselves, in their own spaces, then that's their business.

Like the user admitted, it was a justified moderation. He phrased his explanation in a way to suggest that it was a power move against another user who he described as a "hetero right winger". Like other slurs, it's not accepted on gamefaqs, and he's taking the punishment in stride for what he said. Everything past that point is up to the person.

Personally, I'm all against the word. I'm cool with the LGBTQIA+ community's reclaiming of the word queer, but the f-slur is something that I heard a lot as a kid and I really, really don't like it. But you do see some people reclaiming it in their own spaces, and that's their business. I don't think GameFAQs is the place for the f-slur personally, regardless of how you feel about it, but if it's a word that the modded user is comfortable with as a gay man, then that's his business. As long as he's taking responsibility for what he said, which he is, that's all there really is to say imo.

It looks and feels like a pretty decent PS2 game. It would be downright impressive running on a PS2 - it looks good if you think of it as a 6th gen game, shackled by its own ambition.

Ridge Racer and Ridge Racer Revolution are the first two games, the second one being more like an expansion pack than a sequel to my knowledge. Rage Racer is the third game, and it takes a dramatically different approach - the visual design is a bit more grounded and dark, there's a credit system so you can buy new cars and tune them up, and the music is a lot more harsh and electronic than the prior games.

I remember trying that game, but was terrible at it since I was trying to drive like it was Gran Turismo.

My main exposure to the Ridge Racer series is the PSP games, and the drifting in that game is smooth as butter. I've gotten the hang of drifting in Rage Racer, but hoo boy - that's some crusty ass drifting. Like you had to get good enough at Ridge Racer PSP to propel yourself forward, because the drifting - when done right - could literally drag you through corners and shoot you forward at top speed, while Rage Racer's drifting is basically "if you don't drift through this corner you'll probably crash, drifting will slow you down, but if you do it right you can set up a direct path through this corner that'll save you a few seconds and let you overtake".

Ridge Racer PSP is high risk, huge reward until you learn the best drift spots, whereas Rage Racer feels like huge risk, high reward for the time being.

I was gonna buy a bunch of crap because I feel bad about window shopping at my local game store, but I saw this on the shelf and I just had to get it. I'm big on Ridge Racer, at least to the point that the PSP games are some of my favorite racing games ever, so when I saw this I just had to have it.

Condition isn't mint, but it's a black label copy and the case is in okay condition. It's even got the manual and everything.

I think it's so funny that something like Avengers Endgame can be as watchable and enjoyable for what it is, but Disney can't even manage a decent Star Wars trilogy.

Honestly, even if it's not considered high art, Endgame is a cinematic accomplishment. Cramming that much shit into a movie, and that many characters, into a solid 3 hour runtime - and somehow not falling to pieces in a glorious, flaming ball of hubris - us pretty amazing.

TLJ existed in part to rebuke aspects of TFA, and I think it was a stupid decision that damaged the trilogy beyond repair. Its focus on subverting expectations ruined an otherwise decent enough set-up, and the stupid comedy scenes like Finn waking up from his coma and leaking medical fluid everywhere in a bubble suit just really didn't land. I think TLJ, while overhated for aspects like Rose and Luke Skywalker, was a pretty crummy product that reeked of Disney's "fuck you we're Disney" overproduction and gross commercialisation.

Saying all of that, though - my least favourite scene of the sequel trilogy is their justification for bringing Palpatine back.

I like the feeling of getting trophies and achievements, but they're the worst thing to ever happen to games next to microtransactions. Their sole purpose is to get you to play the game longer, to push yourself beyond the point of enjoyment for the dopamine hit that comes with the trophy/achievement sound.

It's the same basic mechanic as a slot machine - something good happens, an extremely pleasant sound starts playing to signify this, and that noise is now tied to your brain's dopamine receptors. When you hear the noise, you feel good, so you keep playing to hear the noise again.

Games used to be fun on their own merit, but once you introduce that manipulative mechanic that's designed to trick your brain into feeling happy, chances are your personal enjoyment of video games is slightly tarnished forever.
