We need to show that it is NOT OKAY to celebrate these false traditions by taking down any anti-Christmas paraphernalia, and replacing it with the almighty love of our saviour in its stead - making our Christian nations properly Christian again, bringing back the love of our Lord as we celebrate his hallowed name in the stead of these false prophets. We need to organise and act as one!

Like... I'm sorry for the hard times and lost friendships that sprang from discord drama, absolutely. I was one of the folks who got mad about some dipshit threatening to release your nudes on CE chat - I've got nothing against you personally.

But with all the drama that's gone on, to the point now where people are saying "we don't hate you" and you're equating it to lying about something that's blatantly easy to verify with a glance, I can't say that I'm entirely on your side in all this. I don't entirely agree with Vulgar's actions either, and he even said to me later on that he felt really shitty about causing the drama in the first place, but he also told me that he had vented his frustrations because things felt like they were getting out of hand and that he felt like he was being used. He at least had the humility to admit that his actions were pretty dickish and that he felt bad for doing it, and even if I don't really speak to him any more, I can understand his feelings - even if in the long run, they were a personal extrapolation of actions that may or may not have happened.

I haven't followed your side of the story, seeing as we roll in different circles now - so I'm sorry if you feel like any of this is misrepresenting you, it's why I'm focusing more on the other people than using their justifications to directly judge you. I'm just going off of some 6 month old drama that this topic dusted off. I don't doubt that the drama took an emotional toll - all I can say for sure is that I was in two chats where drama got laid down and you were ousted, with the first one being a much more passive experience and the second one erupting into drama after Vulgar's post. I'm sure that you can find somewhere to fit in, and I regret that you couldn't thrive in either server that I shared with you, but with everything that's happened since I just don't give a shit. I want to post somewhere that's light on posters slagging each other off and getting wrapped up in stupid, meaningless bullshit. I'm glad that I don't reside in a server with users who flirt with like 3+ guys with every second breath - I respect your choice to do so, but I'm glad that I don't see that sort of activity much from any one else who I share a server with. I'm glad that the most drama I get involved in is me being a dipshit and baiting Menardii with Smash Ultimate screenshots of my Miis dressed as Isaac.

She has a really clear, well enunciated voice, and her music has held up really well over her career. And compared to other bands I've listened to, her newest output is arguably as good or even better than what she's put out in the past - the songs I've heard from Growing Pains are some of the best tracks I've heard from her library.

I've been hesitant to look into more down to earth pop like this, like indie-type pop - you hear a lot of like Billie Eilish or whatever, or these mush-mouthed indie-folk boys who like go for that southern twang or indescribable drawl, and it's just so off-putting and bland. Maria Mena hits the same emotional notes that resonate with me, like the Mountain Goats and the Weakerthans have in the past, with a voice like crystal and albums that hold up ridiculously well.

If you've heard vocalists go for that high note for maximum emotional impact, but fall flat on their face because their voice or forced accent or whatever trips over itself? Try Maria Mena, because she can actually pull that off. As far as I'm concerned, she's the real fuckin' deal.

A bunch of CP was on and it ended up getting pulled from app stores. They didn't know how to distinguish the stuff between other pornographic content that gets posted there, so they just outright banned NSFW material in general.

To some people, sure; no more porn posts sucks. But CP was literally the catalyst for the whole thing. That's definitely something you'd want to handle immediately.

It was a few things. CP was a big reason, what with the recent discovery of - and backlash against - "Minor Attracted People", or MAPs. But the website's porn bot problem was also pretty massive - to the point that I would call it one of the major reasons that the app got taken down, porn bots circumventing the Tumblr marking system and mass-reblogging posts all across the platform, potentially exposing underage users to pornographic content.

Tumblr's NSFW ban is essentially to try and cripple an issue that they let proliferate in the first place. It's an extreme last-ditch effort to get back into the good graces of the App Store, because they blew it hard enough to be unlisted in the first place.

But he A) had negative history with the teen in question, meaning that his barring from the funeral was more than justified, B) attended the funeral anyway like a fucking dipshit because he felt entitled to be there despite the family's wishes, and C) attacked the family for "their own failings" as they mourned the death of their son. Not exactly an original observation here but Capaldi was a brilliant doctor marred by lacklustre writing. There was that one episode where he was stuck in the groundhog day timeloop castle and that was terrific. The rest was terrible.

Hoping this was better than that.

Capaldi was an alright Doctor, my main beef is that he didn't feel consistent at all. He spends the first series being a prick, then he's chill for the second, then he has to like learn how to love again for the third. He had some cracker episodes, look at his introduction and Heaven Sent, but Clara stayed too long and he went through so many shifts between series that it was hard to keep up. Character development is one thing, this was just messy imo.

So yeah, I would agree with you that Capaldi's Doctor was pretty alright when the writing wasn't beans.

The full season is out, check it out when you can.

They've had some interesting ideas this season, but their refusal to do continuation episodes has meant that they clearly haven't had enough time to explore them. Almost every episode this season left me with the feeling "that could have been really cool if they didn't rush the hell out of the conclusion".

I kind of agree. I think the issue is more with the villains themselves, like Krasko - he just says some racist shit and gets ganked, nothing more to him than that. Single episode villains aren't bad, but I found that most of this season's villains were just a bit shit - as much as I liked Kerblam, it had a weak payoff. Arachnids in the UK was just balls for most of its running time. Though I did quite like the Pting, personally, and I'm down to see more Stenza in the future.

Really, I would say that your criticism sums up my issues with It Takes You Away the most. The ending was fun, but maybe there would have been more time to really establish an emotional connection, or just really hammer home the emotional impact of the episode, if it had more time to really flesh that final scene out. And like it didn't need to be a two parter necessarily, they could have just cut out Ribbons or reduced his role - an otherwise weirdly entertaining ending ended up falling a tiny bit short, just because they had to run through the climax of the episode. Not hating on the frog though, even as jank as it was I rather liked it.

Here's hoping that they get a slightly longer season next time, so maybe they can do a few two parters and spread their weight a little bit more.

it was a boring season where almost nothing happened. the new doctor is basically a watered down tennant. and i had to laugh when one villain of the week was literally a time traveling racist.

I think the new Doctor's more of a ditz compared to Tennant, whose run felt more like theatre in the long run - at least I thought so. There's definitely similarities, and I don't begrudge you for feeling this way.

I totally agree with you about Time Racist, though. I thought that aside from the song, the end of the episode was pretty solid on the bus - but the leather jacket guy was fucking flat. It was dumb.

people shit on the other seasons for this or that reason, but at least they had some weight to them. i could have skipped this entire season and missed nothing.

What I dislike about Moffat's seasons is that they try too hard to be weighty. The Doctor's death looms over an entire season, his first series was like Moffat broke his arm jerking himself and the Doctor off too hard, Demon's Run alone is just a disaster with how they went about hyping it up - none of that feels weighty to me, because the Doctor feels like a poorly executed cartoon character who can lift the most weights and beat the most baddies, etc. etc. And of course the Doctor is a cartoon character in a lot of ways, with his magic wand that opens doors, but it's like seeing an action movie where every blow - or most blows - feel impactful and punchy, and a CGI mess where hundreds of computer-rendered plasticine mooks get wiped away with little to no fanfare or consequence.

What I liked about this series the most is that it was a lower stakes string of one-off episodes. They were all boots-on-ground, getting into business episodes, instead of faffing about with a heavy-handed framing device for a series-long arc. No Vault, no Pandorica, no astronaut. Not against a seasonal framing device, of course, but I just liked diving into a new adventure each week without some bullshit looming over my head.

But again - this is a matter of taste, and I reckon we might just prefer different takes of the same show.

If any of y'all watched the new series, of course - the whole "woman Doctor" thing probably catapulted it off of CE's radar.

Personally, I enjoyed it. If this was a Russell T. Davies series, it would probably be the worst one of his run - but if it was a part of Moffat's run, I would probably rank it as equally as good as series 7, or even slightly lower. Which is to say - worst case scenario, series 11 is in the absolute middle of New Who seasons.

The episodes I liked, I really liked - Demons of the Punjab was a fantastic episode, it might trump Capaldi's run as a whole in my eyes. I also rather liked the first two episodes, even as people seem to dislike The Ghost Monument a fair bit. Chris Chibnall didn't write the better episodes of the season, but I liked his offerings well enough - like the Tsuranga Conundrum was just a good character episode, it really rang true with what I liked about Doctor Who as a kid.

But the season's best episodes were definitely done by the other writers - even with its weak villain, Kerblam was a really good action romp. Demons of the Punjab - already talked about it, loved it - The Witchfinders was surprisingly decent considering that I'm not a big fan of English historical episodes and It Takes You Away was flawed but nice.

My least favorite episode was Arachnids In The UK, because the Trump commentary was excruciatingly on the nose and it had probably the most needlessly self-righteous Doctor moment of the season. This was before Demons, so Yaz was still very much a periphery character compared to Ryan and Graham - and she got shafted in favor of her own mum in this episode. Not every episode in a series is going to be a winner, so it's not that big of a deal - but it was definitely this season's weak link.

My only other complaints are that the big Rosa Parks moment from episode 3 was really let down by the cheesy song choice and that the villain of that episode was flatter than a grilled cheese on a busy motorway, the TARDIS crew felt a bit too bloated with Yaz getting shafted for most of the season and Ryan and Graham falling out of focus in the second half of the season, and that while it was a good bit of poppy, sci-fi fun - again, very RTD - the finale crammed too much le epic finale stuff into a single regular-sized episode. Again - out of all of New Who, this ranks right in the middle for me.

But it was a solid season, and I adored Jodie Whittaker's take on the character. Capaldi had the brooding thing going for him, and I liked him well enough, but as an older bloke I feel like he didn't bring as much energy to the table - Whittaker's brought a lot of that David Tennant/Matt Smith energy back, there's running and light-hearted quips again - it's nice to have that sort of energy back. And with her accent, there's a solid little nugget of the Ninth Doctor seated in there somewhere - overall, it's just a nice, new experience.

I'm pretty vocal in my feelings for Moffat's run - he wastes centuries of the Doctor's life off screen so that his version of the character gets to say that he's 2000 years old instead of 1000 years old, he does all of these stupid gigantic Doctor events like his name, or his death, or having the Doctor literally be the centre of the universe. The only series I liked of his was series 7 because it had fun monster plots and Matt Smith had finally grown into the role enough for me. It helps that, even with its flaws, the Clara subplot was still new and she hadn't overstayed her welcome yet - her and Matt Smith had great chemistry, and Matt's acting in this series was really the pinnacle of his run. The rest of Moffat's run, I can more or less leave behind - but 7 was a good series.

Series 7 is the only Moffat series that I would say could be better than series 11. Series 1 - 4 just beat out 11, and 7 isn't far behind, but 11 was the best series of the show after a lot of what I see as Moffat-shaped flops. Not the best series - but it was solid enough, and I liked it

Also aren't folks who are born with both sets classified as "intersex"? I've heard that there's confusion when parents decide to get surgery for one set of genitals, and then the kid starts presenting as the other sex during puberty and they have to break the news - and maybe sometimes both are present but one set is more pronounced than the other? Either way, that's a complicated world - and out of sheer ignorance, I've thought that the term "intersex" summed up that side of the coin.

Trump was seen as fairly friendly with the Russians, what with him having nothing but nice things to say about Putin. We now know that he was in talks to develop a Russian Trump Tower well into his campaign, and he and his family have repeatedly lied about business meetings taking place at Trump Tower with Russian businessmen.

With the DNC being backed by Russian spies, that didn't sit well.

I mean this feels somewhat like an audit, you're taking stock of someone's promises and running their word against whatever concrete fact that you can wring out of them to make sure that they're not lying. I would expect any public servant to be under the same level of scrutiny. If any illegal shit pops up, then it's on Donald Trump for being a disingenuous fuck-ass.

I think it's good for a nation's people to know that their leader isn't lying through their teeth, and has their well-being in mind. Donald Trump has lied multiple times about engaging in unethical activities, or deliberately obfuscated the truth to protect his own financial interests - just brazenly lied about it to reap all the rewards that he can while dodging any legal checks and balances that serve to keep things above board and well-documented. If this was a witch hunt, then Donald Trump would have gone through the wringer for alleged crimes that are patently false - but the probe has uncovered tangible crimes that he's committed since his election run, including a felony by verbally instructing his lawyer to engage in unlawful behavior on his behalf.

The term "witch hunt" here seems to imply that there are people who are just as corrupt if not worse running the show against him, and I do think that politics is a fucking slimeball profession full of this shit - but it implies that the "victim" here has no history of wrongdoing, which the probe is increasingly disproving in the case of Donald Trump.

Anyway Tumblr isn't dead yet, it'll go on for a good while. I'd like to say that it's got a couple decent years left on it, look at fanfiction.net and how long it's survived after it pissed off people with its own purge - but I'll be a bit more cautious and say that it's got at least another year left in its sails.

It's worth staying on the site because shit is well and truly going to flip when the site finally dies. The memes that came out of the NSFW purge were on point, and today's Fingers In His Ass Sunday/Energy Sword Sunday crossover was sick.

Porn has been dead on Tumblr for like a year or more, the website has been flooded with porn bots. Anyone's best bet was to follow a handful of blogs that consistently posted decentish material, but I feel like all of the niche stuff ended up being co-opted by all of those "You like Janet?? FUCK HER TODAY!!" bot posts.

There are boorus and tube sites that do a more varied and broad selection of genres. One of the most prominent social media sites around - at least, from the last time I saw it - has specialised porn boards that deal in specific fetishes and niches. Throw a stone on the internet and you'll hit porn, unless you've been following specific NSFW artists or whatever - relying on Tumblr after the bits watered down the porn supply is kind of weaksauce. Unless you're a MAP who flew under the radar for entirely too long, which I could honestly see.

Edit: I wouldn't implore you to seek pornography, as to keep in the good graces of the moderation staff - I'm just saying that if your only outlet for weird porn shit is Tumblr, then you've been backing a dead horse for way too long.
