It's been ages since I saw an Auton in the show. Last time it was some plot wank applied to Rory so they could have a Moffat Approved Sad And Suspenseful Moment To Be Overcome By The Doctor Winning The Most Since The Last Time He Won. Before that, it was the series revival.

If series 10 - or even series 11 - doesn't have an Auton plot, I'm going to be disappointed. I miss them.

I went to Sydney for a family thing, and today I got to go shopping for a while. I got an Omen 800 gaming headset because I've been looking for a nice pair of headphones lately, and I got a greatest hits collection for Men At Work as well as August and Everything After by Counting Crows.

Then I went a bit games crazy. EB Games had a 3 for $18 deal on PS3 games, so I picked up Red Dead Redemption and Borderlands 2 with an expansion pass disc with 2 of the DLCs on it. Which was a pretty shit deal on my behalf, because I went to another store and found the GOTY edition for $6. Fuck.

At the same store, though, I snagged a copy of Final Fantasy X/X-2 for ten bucks. So I have four solid games to play for $28, some good tunes (Overkill is a jam and a half, and it was about time I dropped some actual money on Counting Crows) and a rad as fuck gaming headset. Good fuckin haul.

When he gets out of jail in one of his episode, he appears to go straight. If he handles himself well, he could go on to become a relatively well-liked guy and probably get a reasonably attractive woman to be with him. Instead he continues to stalk and harrass a woman he attempted to rape, because he feels entitled to her and sees himself as the beleaguered good guy being beaten down and stripped of his rightful bounty by an unworthy other. He hates that he was rejected by a woman he likes, and rather than take the L, he'll insist that his warped viewpoint is correct and it's society that is wrong. That she's wrong for rejecting him, and that she should feel grateful for his affections.

He's frustrated by the subject of his affections being repulsed by him, and when he finds that she prefers another man over him - someone who takes action and is virtuous, not sleazy and cowardly like he is - he turns violent and attacks the other man when he's in a helpless state. He has no greater pleasure than dealing out punishment to those he sees as less worthy than him, then having sex with their girlfriends. He's always a victim in his own mind, but highly unsympathetic and detestable as a human being to anyone with half a brain.

Victor LaRue is a pretty ham-fisted soap opera-level villain, made to be as unsympathetic and deranged as possible. But did the show manage to accidentally hit the incel stereotype on the head? Probably not, because he actually takes action unlike the usual basement dwelling weiner-jacker, but Christ - what an unpleasant, shitty coincidence.

First up is Tales of Symphonia. I'm playing it because I have games downloading on PS3, and this is the only game of note that I can play without pausing the download. I've been playing that on auto-battle, but I'm enjoying it well enough.

After that, I'm planning to move onto Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne. Really give it the attention it deserves. It'll be a pain in the ass, but I'm a glutton for punishment.

And after that one, I'll be playing Suikoden II. I enjoyed the first game a lot, and I got to play a bit of this one last year before my PS3 failed. It looks like a really solid game from the time period, possibly living up to the hype surrounding it.

These are the three most immediate RPGs on my radar, but I'm gonna have a pretty big line-up afterwards anyway - I might replay the XIII games so I can finish the story with LR for the first time (first game sucks but a fine game for $10, second game is better), I'm planning to replay the Mass Effect games, and I might finish Atelier Totori in due time. That's on top of the games I want to get to on Switch, like Mega Man X Collection and Sonic Mania Plus - not RPGs, but very solid platformers that I haven't played yet.

Man, the PS3 is a solid console. Get your cheap games while the service is still up, I'm neck-deep in RPGs that I bought ages ago for almost non-existent prices.

My way of thinking is that every life is broadcast like a TV show or movie. Shorter lives are like 30 minute episodes of a TV show, or a 5 minute short or something like this. I think it was such a good movie because of its humor that was a step away from James Gunn's Guardians movies, but also for developing Thor as his own character as well. It was seeing him outsmart Loki and realising their differences that really tied the movie together for me.

Symphonia was the first RPG I played where I actually read/heard the story. As a first RPG, it's really good. But if you've been around the block, it's a tropey, dopey, cliched mess of anime-isms and melodrama

I've just started the game (crummy PS3 port) and I'm wondering how viable grinding is gonna be in this game. It's one of those big, mega-hyped RPGs from the time, but I don't like the combat much - so I've currently got it set on auto-pilot.

As soon as grinding becomes a viable option, I'm thinking of beefing up my characters. When would you say grinding in Tales of Symphonia becomes a viable option?
