GameFAQs doesn't even have its own spellchecker. What you are actually seeing is your own browser's built-in spellchecker flagging the word as not being an actual word.

We did have a contest during the beginning of the pandemic.

I suspect what might be holding up the prospects of another contest is the acquisition of the site by Red Ventures, which happened near the end of 2020. The change in ownership means we're not sure if Red Ventures is even willing to approve the necessary budget needed to provide prizes to the top contest entries.

Ah yeah I guess you missed Steiner's ranking project where he averaged lists from the entire board together. Mimikyu ended up almost at the top of gen 7 while none of the others did all that well and some were close to the bottom of their gens.

We haven't done a Gen 8 ranking project yet, and that's due to the uncertainty of when Gen 8 will be considered "complete" in its roster of Pokemon. Gen 7 marked the first time new Pokemon were added mid-generation, and Gen 8 is continuing this trend. The Switch being more capable of handling DLC than the 3DS has made it a lot easier for Game Freak to add new Pokemon mid-generation. The upcoming game Pokemon Legends: Arceus will add several new Pokemon, and there's still one more Gen 8 Mythical that has not been revealed yet.

This is an extremely easy vote for Ribombee because it's actually cute. Also the most battle capable of the 2 stage early bugs.

Cutiefly is the clear winner for me.

As votals have fallen, so too has the fate of our beloved puppies. Turns out they were the ultimate Casual Bait after all! Yesterday's upset shouldn't have come as a shock given the way results have been trending, and also how it had been five years since they last went to war, but the result still stings bitterly for all Doggie Diehards like myself.

I'm guessing cats are doing much better today than in previous polls is because of the fact that cats are low maintenance pets who can at least take care of themselves for short periods of time when you aren't around. Dogs simply get too attached to their owners to be left alone for any extended period of time. And with the aging userbase of this site comes more responsibilities like family things such as having children (and going out more often with your children), or caring for elderly relatives, which would create a conflict in being around often enough to care for a dog.

Following a year where the vote totals held steady from the previous year, I really thought we had finally hit rock bottom and reached a stabilization point with our vote totals. Turns out that wasn't the case. Perhaps the first year of the COVID pandemic played a role in preventing vote totals from dropping in 2020 compared to our 2019 vote totals. Maybe it was likely that was just a temporary trend, and the normal trend of declining vote totals would return when the world finally got somewhat back to normal (with the vaccines).

Just like how it's very difficult to predict what the COVID virus is going to do in the future, it's also quite difficult to predict our vote totals will change in the future as well. Only one thing is certain so far with our vote totals, and that's the continuation of a declining trend. I've given up trying to predict when this trend will come to a stop, either by reaching a point where vote totals have finally stabilized or even an increase in vote totals.

December 2021 was the first full month where every single poll got below 10000 votes. You have to go all way back to September 2000 for the previous time that happened in a single month.
