Now I'm playing Mega Man 10. I've beaten all the Robot Masters. I think 9 is better so far, and I don't think 10 has been particularly difficult. I do appreciate some of the quality of life upgrades, even minor ones, and Strike Man might be one of my favorite stages ever.

We'll see what I think after the Wily stages!

I think so too. Maybe you're just better at Mega Man games than when you played MM3, Leonhart, if it's been a while.

I've been replaying them all recently on the Legacy Collection. I think 9 might be more difficult overall, but it's not cheap difficulty like 3 is. It feels good to get past a hard part in 9.

Also I would argue MM2 isn't any harder overall than DKC2! But generally I would say out of the ones I've played (haven't gotten to 10 or 11 yet), only 1, 3, 9, and maybe 7 are hard. I don't think it's just the charged Buster either. They don't have very many difficult platforming segments. The games kind of transitioned into being more focused on the combat, which is why 9 is a breath of fresh air

MM Collections should not be played all at once. You'll get burned out after three games.

Eh, I'm sure I'll need a break at some point. That's fine. It'll be waiting for me when I get back!

Plus, at least with the Switch versions, I don't have to start all the way back at the beginning if I run out of lives, which is nice.

She is still in training after all!

And I doubt my Larry interpretation was the original intention because Takumi didn't write AA1 with the prospect of a sequel, which is why T&T kind of contradicts some stuff that happened there. We never hear Phoenix say or think anything of the kind, but it just makes sense in my head.

3-1 is really good. Best version of Payne, for sure, but the worst version of Phoenix. He's basically Larry Butz in a pink sweater. You can see why they were friends growing up.

But in my head canon, that's why Larry annoys Phoenix so much in the present. He reminds him of who he used to be and how Dahlia manipulated him.

And Engarde's reveal shows there's an inherent loophole with the Magatama because Phoenix asked if he killed Juan. Matt said no, and nothing appeared because technically he didn't. It can fail if you don't ask the right questions.

Im working on defining genres for my list (yeah, im bored on a road trip in a car for hours). would you call super mario odyssey a platformer or an action/adventure game? I could go either way. I think most people will default to platformer but it might be more than that given the world.

I would almost call most 3-D Mario games action/adventure games with platforming elements. I know that's kind of a copout answer, but it's hard for a 3-D game to be strictly a platformer, I think.

I do appreciate the darker aspects of time travel repercussions that Chrono Cross explores. It's just weird for it to come at Trigger's expense, which is generally an upbeat and optimistic game.
