We watched the first half of the first episode of 24 and my initial thought was to wonder what happened to Elisha Cuthbert. Feels like I haven't seen her in anything in years.

Yeah, my wife was sharing some of those pictures with me earlier. It's kinda surreal to see, can only imagine what it's like to actually be in it.

This Is Us complete!

Seasons 4 and 5 were a bit of a lull, but they really finished strong with 6. This is like the Clannad of American TV shows, so many emotional moments revolving around family.

I guess next up is the Metal Gear Solid of American TV shows, in 24...!

Honestly I usually dont care about story in Zelda games, but I think they did a great job with that and the lore in TotK.

Yeah, same. I think both games have done a pretty decent job with the world building and characterization, which is what makes this stand out from other Zelda games for me.

We spent a lot of time in Kakariko Village last night looking around the Ring Ruins. It was a rare story-heavy Zelda section!

Oh, it turns out going into a shrine before the blood moon just pushed it back to the next day. I guess you could keep warping to a shrine to get around it over and over again if you were willing to put it in the extra effort.

This one does a good job of showing how life sometimes circles back around for parents and their children.

Also last night I entered a shrine right before a blood moon was supposed to happen and it made me wonder if it still occurs even if you're in a shrine at the time since you don't see the cutscene for it

Yeah, the Rito Village skill is definitely very useful, and that section is a lot of fun in general.

Actually, just for fun, I ran through the first round of 2002 with her just to see how many she recognized, and I got a lot of blank stares!

The beginning felt very Wheel of Time to me, with the whole "seals on the Dark One's tomb ready to break" and all that. It just felt like it was inevitable.

Yeah, despite its usefulness, I often forget Ascend exists. Maybe it's because it almost feels like a hack or a cheat.

Out of interest, how much do you know about the series right now?

I know the main character is Jack Bauer and each season is about a single 24 hour day (or I guess I assume that's the case), and that Kojima wanted Kiefer Sutherland for MGSV because of his role on this show.

We've only got three episodes of This Is Us left, so I've been thinking about what to watch next. Transience's topic today has inspired me to give 24 a shot, so we'll see how that goes!

I saw it coming over the last few episodes, but Miguel's story still managed to hit me hard here. His arc over the course of the show might be the most impressively done of all the characters.

Yeah, I'm thankful my mom is pretty tech savvy, so I haven't had too many of those moments.

So Netflix started implementing all their anti-password sharing stuff. My wife is the one who pays for Netflix and was sharing it with her family, but of course, they didn't reach out to her about making her the primary account. It just asked the first person who logged on, which happened to be my technologically illiterate mother-in-law. She just clicked yes without thinking what it meant.

And apparently the only person who can change the primary account is the person who set it in the first place (and they have to be connected to the WiFi it's set to), so now my wife is having to try to walk her through the steps over the phone and it is not going well.

Netflix really did not think this through.

If you use a guide, you could get all the Stellazio coins pretty quickly.

There's a city you can find called Daguerro that's completely optional.

I made it to the Wind Temple. This section has been really fun so far. Let's see if the dungeons have improved from Breath of the Wild.

Yeah, I think in most FF games, you can get away with ignoring status protection, but IX takes it seriously.

It's not like those are vivis best spells so it's kinda w/e to me.

They're still the top level elemental spells, so they're pretty useful for exploiting enemy weaknesses.

I can't imagine it wouldn't be Subsistence in MGS3's case, at least. That camera was a game-changer.

It'd be a huge gaffe on Konami's part if it's the original, but at the same time, I wouldn't be surprised.
